Britney got booed because a lot of people didn’t like her in the beginning. When she first came out her biggest fan base were mostly youngsters. Kids who are too young to question anything. I remember reading news articles and magazines how people felt divided about her in the beginning almost like 50% loved her and 50% hated her. She used to cry a lot about it because she couldn’t understand why people hated her. She spoke about it right before her second album release. There was also a lot of pressure of her to portray an image that wasn’t who she was. She was forced to deny to her fans that she smoked cigarettes at 15, lie that she was a virgin while dating Justin and stuff like that while in turn this made people resent her for being dishonest. People felt like she was a big phony back then. Older people her age and older. It wasn’t her fault but she got shit for it. Britney was trapped from the start to be a forced performing monkey and never allowed to be herself thus why she developed real mental issues in the future. I remember it all because I am only a few months older than Britney and I remembered those interviews and reading those articles as they unfolded many years ago. I was one of those who didn’t like her years ago but I still read about her since something about her story always seemed off. When her mental breakdown happened then it all made sense. I’m not a Britney fan but I do feel empathy for her as a person. She suffered so much and she still isn’t free, probably will never be. Her life is doomed to be under control since no one wants to listens to what she wants. Her own fans deny her wish of wanting to retire and just be a mom like she dreams because they want her to keep entertaining them like a monkey on a leash. Selfish but true.
