Another new series on my channel. This time, I start exposing some rotten areas of the truck camper and see how bad it is and then start planning the rebuild.
This is part 1, and there will be many more.
Shoutout to ‪@covetthecamper2289‬ and ‪@McSpeedAlaskanAdventures‬ for providing their knowledge in camper repairs, updates, and remodels. I feel a lot more confident now, thanks!

I have the same camper...a '96. It was in very good condition, but I still had to replace some wood up in the right front of the cab-over bunk end, under the little cabinet and back to the window. I also replaced my fridge with a Dometic NRX-130C 12v compressor fridge, which I can highly recommend. It only draws about 4.5amps when running. Another big improvement I made was turning it into a totally boondocking rig, with no connections to the truck other than for the running lights. The shore-tie cable is completely disconnected from from the AC-DC converter, as is the 12v source from the truck's trailer plug. I added 200w of solar panels to the roof, and a 100ah LiFePO4 battery with a 30A MPPT charge controller, added a distribution block, and run everything through the output of the charge controller. The air conditioner has been replaced with a MaxAir Fan all the interior light bulbs have been replaced with LED bulbs. Running the MaxAir Fan, the range hood fan, the water pump and a bunch of lights on, I never got over 15a of current draw. There's dozens of other little projects, and I'm babbling now, LOL....Good Luck with your camper; they don't make them like this anymore, and once you get it fixed up, it will be better than anything out there that's new!

Awesome project!!! You are starting with a much much better camper than I did. I’m jealous. My vote is to eliminate the front window. They are just a leak hazard anyway. That wood rot is very fixable. I’m installing a new three way fridge in mine. Probably my next video.

Yeah, I feel very confident about this project. The only thing about deleting the front window is I'd need some new aluminum siding, framing, and closing it would be easy. Just sourcing the matching siding may be an issue.

You defiantly have some long days and nights ahead of you. Trust me i know. ive been rebuilding my Lance 915 for the last 2 months. It had a ton of rot as well. I did eliminate the front window on the build back. We have been documenting it on my channel. Its defiantly been a lot of work but has very rewarding. Like yourself this is the first time ive ever done any repair work on a camper like this but thanks to you tube ive have learned so much. The best advice i can give is get a Oscillating tool. It has been my best friend in the whole process and Kreg pocket screw jig and screws for reassembly and lots of liquid nail. Good Luck

They're a can of worms for sure. I just got a 76 camper, 8' unknown brand. Luckily I only had 2 spots to fix. Waiting on my new jacks. Done with messing with old pump jacks. I am amazed they stay together with 1x2's frankly. I could have swore my 80s had plywood in the walls but can't remember

I got my eye on a 350 dollar camper. Is just the way I want it on the inside. But the outside like yours is oh brother. I don't know if I;m talented enough to replace so much frame.

I'm a pretty handy guy, but I don't have much experience with wood, etc. I'm more of a metal fabrication guy, welding, etc. But as I tear into this camper, it's really fairly simple. Just a lot of time being careful removing the hundreds of staples, etc. But I'm feeling confident.
