LANCER Lore: SSC | Anime Mechs, Gucci, and Genetics 

I have to remember to mention it in the manufacturer videos one of these times. LANCER is a ttrpg where you play as elite mech pilots in the far future of the Orion arm.

I find it funny that so many people focus on SSC's potential for catgirls in space, but they probably have The Thing sitting in an illegal genetics lab somewhere.

I once made an SSC Death's Head pilot that was basically an influencer used by SSC as a way to appeal to the young-adult population, which of course was the most bio-engineered catgirl thing in the cosmos, that in the free time smashed herself with alcohol and nicotine because she couldn't cope with the fact that she had to go into battle dressed like that as contract policy. She piloted a Death's Head because she could be as far away from everyone else as possible and hopefully never have to interact with her co-workers.

One of my characters (their chassis is a Monarch) says they like Smith-Shimano Corp not because of the luxury factor, but due to the unique engineering philosophy behind the designs of the chassis. They also bought cat ears alongside their chassis so do with that what you will.

Monarch: "The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't."

I do love the idea of playing something like Atlas as a character who treats their mech as just a major cybernetic enhancement

I want to make a campaign centered around union sending in some lancers onto Opal and just fill it with terrifying monstrosities and other terrible experiments for the players to fight now Also you cannot tell me that SSC doesn’t make furry gene mods, because that is absolutely a thing they would be doing

I imagine that the Mourning Cloak's teleport looks kinda like Loki's timeslipping. It's technically harmless but it looks and feels like they're being ripped apart.

the fact I picked SSC as a ex-scientist for my first character without prior knowledge as to how "interesting" they are really tells me a lot about my thought process (I don't think)

14:00 another interesting thing about that metavault raid, if i understand correctly, horus sent out a message to a bunch of people basically saying "raid a metavault lol", in the hopes of getting the tech from inside (page 406 of the full lancer core book), but it leaked onto the net and ssc got a hold of it. So the dusk wing is basically a horus mech made by ssc (hence the eldritch horror flavour texts)

Wasted opportunity for Ace Combat jokes about Monarch. But I'm going to remember the "we don't sell *people*" slogan. That is such a suspiciously specific denial

Oh my god I was not expecting this company to be so dystopian. I mean a certain amount is expected but still I was surprised how deep the rabbit hole goes. I do like a couple of their mechs though.

If you are playing morning cloak you need to play one of the disappearing scream meme when ever you teleport

Mourning cloak also has some text about organic components that need to be maintained if memory serves. With the implication being that not all the genetic work went into human lines...

I’ve spent whole day writing lore for my campaign just waiting and hoping for this vid to come out and i knew it wouldn’t disappoint, great job! Also I’ve shared your vids with my players and they loved them as well and helped immensely to get them into the setting

I played the Mourning cloak during a oneshot to rescue a non combatant from a station under siege and I just teleported past all the enemies, picked them up, and teleported back. Still had a boss fight but we really didnt need to as we got the target to safety but decided to stay and finish off the enemy(and to not let our GMs work go to waste). I flavored the blade as a laser scythe… It was so fun

So... time to talk about my character Sniper, first introduced on an SSC research world, ie no actual colony, and is afraid of space... on a planet with no colony... made a mistake and ran with it, had him actually be a clone because he was a damn good lancer for SSC but it memory transfer messed up so he didnt remember anything from his original life. He got his fear because his previous life ended with him suffocating in the vacuum of space. His first mech was a Deathshead, because I like being a glass cannon, and his suit was designed around survivability without direct confrontation, so of course stealth suit and sylph suit. He was a wrenchmonkey sniper, made his own weapons, and if he couldnt make it out right, he went for the best of the best of the best, SSC loyalty and all... even his signature heavy weapon was something he made on the battlefield (yes, i used invent and create skill a lot, GM both loathed and loved me at the same time), a 100mm single shot anti material rifle... he also could somehow never die and was always on the brink of death, HA got his dna once and he got cloned (turncloaks, the lot of us) and the clone got double whammied with reroll twice, so he was super dumb and crippled (which later came into play as a copy of a copy situation). He later started using Monarch, which I'll summarize my usual first turn with a quote, "I am become death, destroyers of worlds". We created a company by accident because i needed an excuse to not leave my mech because space, i created Nutrinobars. And not only that, but i also had to tell my sister that i had died and now i was a clone, she didnt take it well. Also put an NHP in a female version of my body. And we blew up the space Vatican. Stopping the Aun war that was going on. I miss Sniper, but my GM did say that he plans to come back to the Lancer universe, and i already have a character in mind, Sarah (aka S4R4H), the NHP put into the human body... I waited to see this one because of how closely related my character was to SSC lore and all

SSC mechs are great. Love me some duskwing. Also wasn't ready for the, "We don't sell people, we sell potential." Lol

Metalmark is more like the Solid Snake of the SSC line, it is also very much an "I'm invisible all the time!" character like the Dusk Wing but the fantasy here isn't to be a ninja, it's to be the ultimate special forces soldier.

This is quickly becoming the set of vids I get the most hyped for when a new one drops. Love these, keep up the great work! 🖤

Also, I wanted to comment that I think you have improved your talking timing a lot, you used to do a little way too many dramatic pauses but now they actually hit because you just used them like three times, and usually w something happening in the background. Keep up the good work. Considering the amount of people that play Lancer, it's surprising how little quality content there is. Hope that once you are done with the Manufacturers series you get into other lore stuff, I'd love to see your take on the Aunic or Karrakin lore.

All of my pilots are catboys and I've justified it by writing a unified backstory where, during the Interest Wars, a family of Karrakin knights purchased an experimental super soldier gene sequence license from SSC so that their lineage would produce better pilots. The genome happened to also be one of SSC's first animal splicing projects that they are now famous for (and Tom can't stop us).

this group is giving such a fun idea for a pilot.

Currently assembling a World of Darkness and Lancer hybrid setting. SSC is a Toreador and Tzimiche coalition project to produce terrible things and research dark perfections deep underneath Constellar worlds. Having a lot of fun with it so far.

My first ever real character in Lancer pilots a Monarch. He got the print key for it, as well as the original mech, by trading it for the starfighter he used when he flew for the Union. While it was worn and torn from use, it still had its air of luxury and grace. Until he repainted it stark white with red Mustang stripes and surrounded it with camera drones that livestream all of his missions.

This is such an awesome series. I love it

Ok, mourning cloak It not only can send you "SOMEWHERE" that traumatizes both you, mech and your team when it happens (so quite possibly rolling tripplets exposes everyone to dimensional goatsy), it's also possibly made from people. Somewhere in it's sheet it's stated that it has bio components, so ya know- stolen tech, traumatizing teleporting accidents and there's probably someone's brain (and possibly more) stuffed into a CPU

You happen to have a explanation and focus video on being a Pilot? Like we could get into the talen tree, but I feel like understanding Pilot Equipment is a pretty cool concept that would be worth investigating, because I still have no clue what a proper "Hardsuit" really is.

Monarch is the Macross fan's choice, and I love that! Because not all "anime" esque mechs are shonen, some go back to the old school mecha. Also I'm a sucker for missile spam.

The Mourning Cloak may teleport you to a completely different part of the galaxy if you roll three of the same number, but you do get 20 coins as consolation so I think it balances out.

My head canon for the teleporting is they get stretched to the point they have to be, then the rest of there body follows. This doesn’t kill them obviously but having your body stretched across time and space can’t feel good.

Hold on... That cut away to some Gigantic titan looking thing of a mecha going slowly up a wall... That implies you can mix and match your mecha using some kind of system... I gotta wonder how that works, and I can imagine some... Odd builds coming about because of this.

I played with a Death's Head in a one shot. I literally sat on the backline, destroyed things at range. Also played a little support. Had a cockpit that could hold a few passengers, so if anyone went down they could just shelter in mine.

My character got his Duskwing by stealing it from his ex-boyfriend’s show room, where it was basically just collecting dust. He has proceeded to use himself as a living disco ball in every fight he brings it into, and is being hounded by several repossession agencies. He’s a menace.
