I owned a 2000 gtv and now a berlina 2000. I also own a fulvia 1600 HF. They both drive fantastic. The frontwheel driven fulvia is a typical rally car, fw drive, faster, raw, more nimble and overall better engineering. The alfa's 105 are fantastic rw drive cars with a lott of charisma. I could not choose between the two. And why would you. Just see the beauty in both.
Guys you have gone to the trouble of getting a camera man, a presenter, a shiny red car - but please do your research correctly especially when talking about a car that had a rally winning variant. Most of what you are referring to is just a sketchy pastiche of the previous owners representation of the HF model which this is not. It’s not difficult call upon a car club which will most probably be more than happy give you the correct run down of a car.
Do not get me wrong the Alfa Junior was a brilliant car in almost every aspect (all cars did rust excessively back then except perhaps some niche brands) but the Fulvia was an absolute masterpiece!
You say the 1,3 Rallye sits between the std Fulvia and the 1,3S and HF variants… but badging on the rear suggests it is in fact a 1,3S ? Nice looking example in principle, but unoriginal dash and instrumentation, seats, unnecessary kill switch, molded wheel arches, don’t add to it. Also, has the engine been worked? If so, this would add to sale enthusiasm.
I love the Fulvia, my father had one and I've got fond memories of it, apart from the fact that he sold it the week i became old enough to drive! This review needed less talking about the bleeding obvious and more about the history of this particular car. Also, there was a bit much blue smoke to attract serious buyers surely?
Two opposite car concepts of that time. Both lovely cars, the one more effective on the track, the second one more effective and safe on the road, I would like to have both!!!!!
I had to laugh when he mentions the water temperature guage and the camera cuts to a shot of it...and it's completely not working! The car seems to be a bit puffed up with the big rallye lights and a prominent HF sticker on the side when it's not actually an HF.
When cars are this small, the FWD dynamics are different, just ask anybody who had a Sud. Another commenter compared this to a Fiat 124 coupe. They do both have an airy greenhouse. I like the 124 coupe and am an Alfa guy so a GT jr is always a like, but this seems like the perfect 1300 with a pair of dual throat carbs. The alfa world is too in love with the Guilia GT, this is refreshingly different and the engineering of Lancia, and build quality, are equal or surpass equivalent Alfas. The automotive world was better when Alfa and Lancia were independent, although neither could stay afloat building drivers cars.
You might be interested in what I'm currently working on, a fwd honda 1300 with twin Weber dcoe 45, it will be revving up to 8k rpm. And yes it makes power up there :)
You can’t listen to somebody selling this car giving a review. And this car, a push button starter switch. I am an Alfa guy and am considering buying a 1.3S it’s a better value than a GT jr, gorgeous and a totally different feel.
Its rather this FWD against Alfa’s RWD. Do not forget the likewise RWD Fiat 124 Coupe, 1400-1800 marvellous Lampredi twincam, 5speed and disc’s all ’round. I think it looks best out of this trio too, IMHO. (Apart from being the overall better car, according to roadtesters both then & now).
I like the Alfa Giulias and Giulettas of the time more. Dont get me wrong, for a FWD the Lancia performs and drives very well, but the Alfas are a little bit more active and you can do much more with them.
I don't recall seeing a road test between the 3 of them so would love to see a link as that would be a great read. I remember a road & track article where the 124 blew MG and TR6 away. I had a 124 1.8 before fulvia and although great engine and fabulous sound found driving it absolutely exhausting compared to the fulvia.
These S1 Fulvias have tons of understeer; they just won't go around corners when given any heat. I owned one for 13 years (S1 1.3S; very late S1 from early '70) so I'm just telling ya.
The party crasher for most of the potential buyers is probably front-wheel-drive. Collecting cars is doing their best on not mentioning this little, but important fact, neither in the video or on the bidding-page itself..
That usually only disappoints people because it looks like a rwd car. They drive like any good fwd car, minis and hot hatches for instance. Temper your expectations for that and they're excellent.
@@Munkenba It looks like a FWD car, clearly? That front overhang doesn't fool us. :) Anyway, FWD or RWD does make a huge difference to the experience of spirited driving
@@pereldh5741 Well, yes, but it doesn't make one configuration better than the other. Ask any journo with a decent head on their shoulders which is best among a classic mini, a gr yaris and an e46 m3. Add in a motorcycle if you want, for good measure. It's apples and oranges, the question is moot.
Video is more style than substance. Particularly in the actual spec of the car. Would it have been that hard to move it past it's wet patch or at least mention that I was overheating.
@@toml5451 the 1300 rally was for competition while Giulia gt 1300 was for normal use with 87 cv. The right comparison you must do with 1300 Gta built for road with 113 cv this is the right comparison with the 1300 rally built for oad If you get the 13oo.hf you must get the 1300 Gta built in 1969 but the Fulvia won only in Rallies and only one time the Montecarlo rally with Sandro Munari but was built in 70 years. Another context.
@@agorlucio7683 no, the rallye 1,3 (86hp) is only a few HP over the std Fulvia coupe, the 1,3S (91hp) a little bit up on that, and the 1,3HF (100hp) 1967 was the homologation model. Prior to that the 1,2HF was the homologation model. Eventually you had the 1,6HF (113hp) in 1969.
You can rotate the car very easy on the brakes. Kinda like a Mini. For the most part it is easy to control. As with all cars, once you throw performance parts on it, it will become more snappy.
Terrible experience with collecting cars! Won the auction for the yellow FK8! Then did everything they requested! And they sold the car to another person using some lousy excuse, maybe their auctions is not as legit as it looks like! Why would you need to block my posts if you are legit? Why can’t you come upfront and face the problem?
Based on this video, Collecting Cars looks pretty sketchy . I assume they are not, but this is the kind of sales pitch giving one a bad rep ; see other comments for reasons why .
I owned a 1971 1.3 fulvia in South Africa in the late eighties. Definately a different car - very charismatic, but rust and squeaky springs a problem!! They were built by Daihatsu!!
Why put one of the cameras down low on the passenger door, then you turn your head too far over looking unnatural and awkward, eyes way off the road… Better to place it as others have near the A pillar?
😕 Hang on.... Is this character going to be a regular with Collecting Cars? I've seen him babbling nonsense on a few things before. True to form, he's ladelling out his usual clumsy, amateurish hyperbole.
Feel like a lot more could have been done with this video - not particularly informative and dull, didn’t even bother to get a 1300GTJ along to draw a direct comparison?
