The side draws might benefit from those push to release pegs like in a kitchen draw without a handle, I think Bunnings sell the kaboodle ones but they are pricey like $15.
Are you using Formply? I used some about a year ago to replace a tabletop on an outdoor table because it is waterproof and cheaper than marine ply. It was great for that.
