Living in an Amish Community: Embracing Simplicity, Tradition, and Community
The Amish community is known for their simple way of life, their adherence to tradition, and their close-knit community. For those who are curious about this way of life, or seeking a simpler way of living, joining an Amish community can be an amazing experience.
At the heart of Amish life is the idea of simplicity. They are happy to live without many of the modern conveniences that we take for granted, such as electricity, cars, and phones. Instead, they use horse-drawn buggies for transportation, hand tools for farming, and wood for heating. This way of life may seem austere to some, but for the Amish, it's a way to live in harmony with nature and to prioritize the things that truly matter.
One of the key aspects of Amish life is their strong sense of community. They work together to build each other's homes and barns, to plant and harvest crops, and to care for each other's children. This communal way of living creates a sense of connection and belonging that is rare in our modern, individualistic society. For those who join an Amish community, this sense of community can be both comforting and fulfilling.
Living in an Amish community is not for everyone, and it requires a willingness to adapt to a new way of life. But for those who are open to the experience, it can be a way to connect with nature, to embrace simplicity, and to find a sense of belonging in a close-knit community. It's an opportunity to learn from a culture that values tradition, community, and a way of life that has been passed down for generations.
In a world that's constantly changing and moving at a breakneck pace, living in an Amish community can be a refreshing change of pace. It's a way to step back from the hectic pace of modern life and to connect with something deeper and more meaningful. Whether you're seeking a new way of life, a sense of community, or simply a break from the chaos of the world, living in an Amish community can be a unique and rewarding experience.

Some Amish use power for lumber yards, building sheds and other work, they live near me. It depends on the sect they are from .

Living next in a Amish community doesn't make you Amish, and it's kinda hard to fit in if you are driving a pickup around. If it came with an Amish Wife then you'd probably get a lot of interest 😸 Living without power for say washing and internet is quite hard, so the neighbours would have to be OK with a bunch of solar panels going up

Pretty little place. Of course I'd want to add electric and if it don't have indoor plumbing add that. But I like the idea of a peaceful Place. And with 8 acrs maybe a person would have abit of freedom if they wanted to own a couple animals. Maybe even a breed of dog that some cities don't seem to like cause the people running it are ignorant with stereotypes.

My dad refered to them as the " armish"
@BradSimmons
@BradSimmons Год назад
The Armish warsh their clothes, then they squarsh out the excess water... hahahha. I LOVE these dialects and colloquialisms... we would often hear this in NJ. I looked it up - you may find this interesting: The intrusive R in “warsh” is most commonly associated with a dialect of American English known as the Midland dialect. The exact boundaries of the Midland dialect region vary from study to study, but all the analyses agree that covers most of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri, as well as parts of Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma. This is the region proposed in the “Atlas of North American English” by William Labov, Sharon Ash, and Charles Boberg. (1) Earlier studies have the region extending into western Pennsylvania, and the earliest ones have it covering all of Pennsylvania, plus some of Maryland and Virginia. Intrusive R can be found in all those areas. A “Washington Post” columnist in 2004 even wrote about hearing the pronunciation “Warshington” on a regular basis where he lived and worked. (2) Even so, it may be dying out. In some places, such as Missouri and western Pennsylvania, it tends to be used more by older speakers, and I’ve seen comments from speakers of Midland American English who don’t say “warsh,” and don’t know anyone who does.

You're trying to sell the Amish community and that's not how it works. Buying property in the area will not make a person Amish nor part of their community. It's just an off-grid property.
@BradSimmons

Are you aware of the Amish people's practice when it comes to the heavy horse's they use out in the fields, day after day month after month and year in year out? They do not treat these massive gentle giants with love and respect. No, they work them to an early grave. ALL OF THEM!. EVERY SINGLE ONE. THAT'S THERE WAY. Then when these gentle giants are riddled with arthritis and other overworked ailments they sell them for dog food. It's true. I am 63 year's old and have always respected these people to the point of wishing I was born into an Amish family/community....NO MORE. just a little more vitamin's, better food and a veterinarian check once in a while and these beautiful big work horses could live longer happier pain free lives. They could be retired earlier. They don't do anything for them except expect a decent amount of money from the abbatoir. That is not a godly act, that's capitalism and cruelty.
