LAND OF THE LOST (TV 1976) stop motion effects. Harry Walton and the late Gene Warren Jr. talk about the stop motion effects for various projects. Photos: Harry Walton, Gene Warren Jr.
I was on the Big Island, Hawaii and I met a local resident with a Waterworld prop rifle hanging on a wall in his garage. He said he saw it floating when he was fishing from his boat outside of Kawaihae Harbor so he scooped it out of the water without the film crew noticing. I don't know if that prop is in the film. It was a black futuristic rifle that was made to look weathered and aged. It's very cool looking. I asked him if it was for sale. He said no. Not for sale.
Behind the scenes of possibly my favorite show ever!!!! Land of the Lost!!!! Thanks for making that show BETTER than its budget should have allowed!!!!
Loved 'Land of the Lost' as a kid. BONUS blurb at the beginning of this video mentioning 'Davy and Goliath'! I remember watching D&G Sunday mornings at 7am before mom and dad would take us to church for the 9am Mass. Memories! Thanks 😊
Man, such great history here. Totally took for granted the "stop motion" factor of Hamburger Helper, Pillsbury, etc, when I was a munchkin... Marshall Will and Holly... Thank you for this!
Such great background info (and *terrific* BTS shots)! I remember Harry being covered in Starlog magazine for the LOTL effects...nice to hear an actual interview. Possibly my favorite of the RU-vid posts - thanks!
Seriously fantastic! I've never seen (or read) an interview with Harry Walton before, who has had a pretty fascinating career and certainly deserves greater recognition for his work. The behind-the-scenes photographs he provided are treasures.
@@piercefilm Thank you! I knew they were in Mandalorian but there they were cg, so I wondered where these practical ones could have come from - now it makes sense! I saw the Ewok movies as a kid but didn't even remember these creatures, though they seemed oddly familiar in Mandalorian 🙂
No idea how I've missed this documentary for all these years, fantastic stuff! Can the DVD still be purchased? It's no longer available on Amazon and I'd really like to see the cohesive documentary, rather than just the clips here. If not, could we maybe get a Playlist that puts together the clips in their original order?
I think the DVD is sold out now. There is no particular order to these segments. Perhaps if you go by the year the films were made? There are so many segments and I haven't even finished editing some yet. Many more to come!
Just saw your comment on the devastating news about CINEFEX. Surely somebody in the industry could have helped, they were so much more than just a publication pushing for a story, they were an integral part of the industry, everyone read it religiously it always seemed.
@@piercefilm . Ha, ha yes, that’d be my idea of heaven actually as it must have been for you (well, apart from the hard work it must have been). I contacted Jody Duncan via a comment she made on RU-vid and got an immediate and very frank response. They did campaign to the ‘industry’ asking for assistance and she was sad to say responses were rather lacking. What a terrible shame. Thanks for the reply.
Huge Sid and Marty kroft fan land of the lost from 1974 one of my favorites saw land of the lost,lidsville,h.r.pufnstuff,sigmund and the sea monsters,Electra woman and dyna girl and the bugaloos they are my favorites too🤡
Maybe using a different mic setup, not clipping the mic to the person would improve the audio in all your uploads! Apart from that complaint, great channel, really interesting behind the scene stuff!!!
@@piercefilm No but you could place the mic so it doesn't rub up against clothing, surely that doesn't cost a thing!! Actually do have a mic I could donate but how long it would take to send from New Zealand is up in the air?
As much as I'm surprised ! i think this man made good decisions! but some of the worst as well ! star wars Dennis murrain ! turns down empire ! and the clash of the titan's oh my !
