I've had this browser tab open for, literally, a year with the intention of watching this video and I'm glad I finally got around to it. Always nice to see "real world" builds, rather than vehicles that have just had giant piles of money shovelled into them. 👍 I'm noticing a trend, here, of attempting to do stuff cheaply and then, when things go wrong, buying a more expensive replacement. I don't mean that as a criticism. Some cheap stuff works out, some doesn't. Whenever you do stuff that doesn't work out, it's easier to do it properly next time around.
I first thought „a almost 1 hour walkaround..wth“... but it was really 100% interesting, very good explanation and, and that’s what i liked most: It’s not a shiny out of the showroom build with a lots of money.. its a practical built and its your built., a very sympathetic build and Restauration. GREAT!!! Save drivings forever!
Im so doing this. Im in my mid50's, single, and I love Rovers, traveling and camping. First things first, find a Defender 110 I can afford.. $100k plus here in the USA.
Thanks so much for taking the time to go through all your work in such detail. I’ve just purchased my first defender last weekend - 1986 ex army 110. Can’t wait to get going on works with it . Cheers
Brilliant job! If you go for a galvanized bulkhead avoid Ashtree, that's just bad service and low quality. For your kitchen table you can buy some non slip rubber mats for a roll 25 x 100 cm. My OneTen HT got a long range fuel tank, so it's carrying 120 l in total now. I'll go for two or three side lockers for storage. For constant ventilation I put a marine solar powered ventilator in the roof. Thanks for sharing your ideas, I've got some input now! Keep on Land Rovering!
Ah fantastic! Thats all brilliant advice. I have got some rubber now for the rear table, super non slip! Thats a good idea on the ventilation, I like the idea of having a rear window that can open. Thanks for watching!
good on ya. clutch may during lockdown on a J plate 90. after attending a couple of events july and august bank holiday (trialler currently laid up. thought clean and paint chassis. tried one shot in swivels ran out. week off october new swivels . found holes in turrets at same time not there when painting wasnt doing front shocks but while apart. had already done rear shocks snapped a bracket now replaced. bit more time with the welder. one Friday almost succumbed to looking at a 110 4/5 door van of more recent vintage but looking elsewhere it looks like the new stuff rots faster than the old and they got computers! review in new year and may have to bite the chassis bullet as you say towards the end of vid or if still sound in spring might be a weekend with the waxoyl. like the curtains use the 90 as overnight camper for short events seats folded forwards with expanding bed at body capping level. few other ideas might adapt.
Love the long video, can detail every modification perfectly. Brilliant build, can’t wait to get home from Iraq to my defender 90 and start some mods 😀
Great video and a brilliant refurb. So glad to have found your channel. Looking forward to watching your other videos and those to come. Cheers. Wayne. 😎😎😎
Second time watching your video as inspiration for mine! Hoping to achieve something similar to you love it! Really like the look of the old lights you had. If you’ve still got the old lights would be interested in having them off you as mine aren’t great?
It gets dangerous when you go down the galv route. It goes from "i can get away with doing this" to "I can't put that back on looking like that" queue the full restoration!!
