We buy a V8 exhaust system from ebay to see if we can fit it to the STIG - we cut the exhaust open to see how it works and compare it to our standard exhaust to see how we can fit this to the car.
Who even thinks about putting a V8 exhaust on a 2 litre jobby ! Only PowerfulUK could think of this ! Classic watching and took my mind off the boring meeting I was attending via Teams !!!!
Just a techie thing… magnetic SS is ferritic (grain structure), while non-magnetic is austenitic - difference bought about by either or both chemistry & heat treatment. Usually the difference is designed according to end-use. Cheers Frank
Great video, might be an idea to run the calculations on the pressures for the turbo / engine. If its too big, the gases can cool down, and you will see a slight drop in power, it has to push harder to get the gas out. I found out the hard way on my D1 3.9 V8 🙂
This explains things , last week while temp about freezing i was behind a new Defender with exhaust only coming out of 2 of the 4 pipes .. i thought the other 2 pipes were stick - on fakes ... i take back everything i called it
Hi Simon, another great video. I was wondering why you didn't put a hose down the exhaust and then blow air through it to see if both pipes were indeed separate, it would have saved re-welding up the silencer box. Also what about if you have an engine issue under warranty and the Stig ends up on a four post lift and the dealer sees your custom exhaust? it could all end in tears but I suppose with all the work and modifications you have done to the Stig, maybe not worth worrying about that now.
Not sure if this has been mentioned already (sorry if it has!!!) BUT not to Pee on your Parade.... you may have the underpinnings of a V8 but do have the wiring loom of a V8??? In order to make those outter exhaust Butterfly flaps to work you'll need the wiring plugs to actuate them with the motors which you need to source as well. Only way I can think you being able to use all four outlets is remove the flaps somehow and then the exhaust gases can use any route it wants to escape. Plus it may make The Stig more gruff with the permanent 4 outlets being open. Just a thought if I'm wrong then I'm wrong!! 😁😁😁
Gosh…I thought that was a brave wallet busting purchase..Who has already destroyed their V8 then??? At £4000+, a seriously expensive bit to replace one day. Now…I only mention this from concern and because I had an ear “accident” a year ago, PLEASE don’t use that grinder without ear defenders on….you can ruin your ears in seconds. I simply dropped some ceramic tiles in an empty skip that was surrounded by three walls…the explosion was astonishing and damaged my hearing for a good three months. It is 95% better now but my perfect ears and not the same. So men…please take this as kind advice for two people I like to call good friends, always save your ears with loud noise around…it only takes once.😬😬😬🙉🙉🙉 I look forward to seeing the upgrade…or hearing it!!! 😃😃😃😃Richard.
