8:40 I am glad that it isn't just me, I also consider myself not particularly stupid and it seems like people fit things like this in just a few minutes when in reality it took me more like 3 hours, really good videos I am really enjoying watching them, I have only got a few left then I have watched all your videos
If you contact the manufacturer there should be a service menu you can get access to where you can set the volume to maximum Also digging your choice in music :)
Terrific video. Planning on fitting something like this in my Disco 2 (will be modifying the dashboard as required) and it's great to hear practical advice like this. As a result of watching this, I think I'll look at fitting some kind of 12v fan behind the dashboard to cool the Stereo.
Again, nice video as always. Having just purchased a LR3 and finding the last update on the Nav DVD is something like 2011 here in Dubai (about a 100 new roads built since then!) I am thinking of getting some kind of Android unit. I did find an American unit called Nav Tool that uses the original LR3 display screen and basically plugs in under the seat where the DVD nav unit is. Apparently you can still see the 4x4 information too. But its not cheap! We fitted a similar Chinese unit to our old VW Touareg, it had a 9inch screen and similar functions but connected direct to the Canbus system so had interaction with all the original features of the Touareg. Incidentally my LR3 is a HSE and has bluetooth hands free on the radio (which looks the same as yours) and has steering wheel call buttons and a built in mic. It also has voice control but so far all she says is "Sorry"....
Maybe call the manufacturer in the US and as them if is compatible. Since 2011 here in Germany, we added bike lanes and closed some roads. So no need for an update 😂. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian Guten Tag Christian! Thanks for the reply, good point. Actually I've seen a few posts now about people fitting an iPad mini in place of the nav screen, which seems like a really excellent solution. You have to get the iPad with the SIM slot (not just the wifi version) as that has a built in GPS. And of course with the iPad you can have Google Maps, proper screen mirroring and lots more. You have to make a few adjustments so it shuts off when the ignition turns off, but its all possible.
Looks good! I've seen the huge replacements for the D4 (which I have), they don't look all that great, and they're so expensive! Wish mine was this easy! Great way to modernise the car
Hello Bugjuicer, we did not have the 4WD info screen and Bluetooth phone. Only the NAV. So no reason to keep the original system. That made the decision easier. Today I would spend more money on it to get a better system but most of them have full 2DIN depth and don’t fit. Thanks.
There is a way to remove a wire on the back of the original screen. This tricks the screen into thinking its a Range Rover, thus giving you extra features including 4WD and Bluetooth. @@Vera_and_Christian
Hi Christian & Vera, greetings from QLD Australia, love this channel thanks for such constructive and concise info. I am having a new head unit installed I was advised to make sure the old (existing) speakers match the the new system. So after lots of asking around I’m none the wiser. Radio guy says if the speakers are 8ohms it’s best I replace them with speakers that are 4ohms to match the head unit
Thanks for the video, my LR3 came without the Navegation sistema, but it is a 2008 TDV6 HSE Automatic and the 6 CD charging audio unit, but it has bluetooth sistem with pickup and hangup intégrate controls on the steering wheel (original). My question is: will the bloutooth original unit to make phone calls work? And the steering comanda will keep working?
You will need to keep the original Bluetooth function on your radio. Yes, it will still work. Basically, your phone will show two Bluetooth members: The Disco3 (as now) and the Android head unit. You need to decite to which one you connect. If you connect to the Android head unit, your steering controls will not work and you have to switch to aux before you hear anything. So I would keep the original system. Sorry for my late reply.
I’m going to say that they are truly good off road generally reliable enough for farming. I’m just not happy with uk 🇬🇧 right hand drive electrical issues and the rear bushes in the suspension issues replacing can be murder god only knows how much Land Rover would charge however minimum 120+ hrs
Muy buen video ....eres una maquina trabajando ....eres bueno en tu trabajo .... te agradecería que me pusieses el modelo exacto que comprasteis esa pantalla .Un saludo
Hi, I wanted to ask. How did you connect the radio to the AUX of the car. Did you connect from the line outputs of the radio? Or did you feed the signal from the radio speakers to the AUX.
Great video!! Love your content :) Do you know where I can find diagram for the original head unit connector so I know where I can tap wires in? Thank you
Subscribed to your channel. Excellent well presented videos you produce. I wondered if you can remember which wire on the Land Rover harness you connected the head unit yellow wire, a permanent live. Thanks in advance
Thanks and welcome. See if this wiring diagram answers your question: media.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/11468/informationandentertainmentsystem.pdf
I got a head unit just like that during Black Friday sale last year for a 4Runner but it has all sorts of weird problems. It's basically just an Android table with a radio in it. The unit was easy to connect using an adapter cable from Ebay and it has Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, steering wheel controls, etc. but there is no way to turn on Bluetooth when you want to use it, it only works when playing music from a phone then goes away! I was going to use a Bluetooth TPMS but had to change to a USB model. There is a TPMS app already on the unit but that wouldn't work with my adapter and had to install another one. It won't start up or run in the background though so the only way to see the tire pressure is to stop the radio and go run the app, then I have to exit it to go back to the radio since it stops playing when other apps are running! The steering wheel controls only work intermittently. When using the Aux input for satellite radio there is no way to adjust the volume and it plays at full volume all the time, even when the built in FM radio is playing! Fortunately I can turn down the volume on the satellite radio. Then, no matter which radio is playing it stops when some other app starts running so I can't check the GPS and listen to music for instance! It's like all the different modules were developed by different people and someone else put them all together without bothering to check if any of them worked together or not!
Hi I really enjoy watching your videos, could you please send me the details of the jumper cable for the fiber optical cable. I have fitted my unit but not removed the original one. Cheers nick
Hello Nick, here is the optical fiber link to jumper out the original display unit: amzn.to/3kePnqV Always look in our video description, we link a lot of the stuff we use, but make sure to always look for the newest model. Thanks for watching and take care. 🙋♀️ Vera
@@karimalameddine5092 I only shopped at Amazon. First it looked like there are very many similar units but once I narrowed it down to my criteria and Android 10, there was really not much choice. Maybe this is different now. I also returned the first unit because the microphone did not work. Then there are different accessories included but the base unit is the same.
Hello, how did you connected the head unit to the aux of the stereo? I installed a android head unit and everything is working however I have no sound. I have a LR 3 HSE 2007
I cut the 3-conductor aux cable going to the jack of the rear center console. Then I connected the 3 wires to the chinch out of the head unit. So L, R and ground. Try if your aux works using a cell phone or a MP3 player first.
It’s simple to install just most land rover owners are to lazy to know or what to do when fitting a head unit they rather get ripped off by a Land Rover dealer to do a simple task I suppose there’s no teaching dumb nice job happy times with it
@@Vera_and_Christian you can get the 4WD info by removing the middle wire (3rd yellow lead from the red lead)to the original info screen. It will put the screen into Range Rover mode, and gives access to the Phone function,TV function and 4WD function
I am not sure, but according to google, as long as the speed camera reporting function is not enabled, you should be fine. I have never heard of Waze before, so I am no expert. But google seems to know it all 😃👍🙋♀️ Vera
Hi Charlie, here is a link to another video, which we liked, about that Android unit ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JSr8npp4kkg.html . Our Discovery also has a Harman Kardon Audio system. 🙋♀️ Vera
The Amazon link is listed in the text description of that video. If you scroll down you will see it. But look for the newest version. It's been almost a year since we bougth and istalled it. 🙋♀️
I added a link into the video description. Here it is too: amzn.to/3dlfx8Z This unit has a external mic input and is not very deep, so that it fits the LR3 dash. It also has now a better Iphone link.
