Very capable cars, the defender, disco and shogun. Even in standard, they’re good. With decent all terrain tyres, right tyre pressure and half competent drivers, they become super capable - all 3 of them, including the shogun.
Thanks for posting, I found it interesting (particularly as I’m fortunate enough to have a Disco 4 and a 90!), they are both extremely capable but do it very differently and require their own techniques. The Shogun did better than I expected, would be interesting on the ‘right’ tyres. I suspect that it’s much steeper than it looks on the video, that’s usually the case. Stay safe.
Thumbs up! Good job with the Disco 4. It’ll look even better when you get your rock sliders. That was quite the obstacle. Perhaps super extended mode could’ve helped but it becomes very bouncy in that mode. The Defender is awesome but I think the diffs needed to be locked because he was getting quite a lot of wheel spin from various tires, while others where not spinning. These rides will make you try all of the knobs and switches in that very capable vehicle. Also the Defender’s step sides could be replaced with true rock sliders for higher clearance.
Thank you Rick for your comments if you check out some of my later videos I have now replaced those sidesteps with some terra firma rock sliders which does help a lot unfortunate on this particular obstacle the vehicle was already in it’s super extended mode it just wouldn’t quite go
@@RobertDawson85 I have the same rails on my 2013 NAS Disco 4. I have wide, 31.5” 285/60 R18 tires (tyres), but I am now looking at replacements, and considering going to a slightly taller but more narrow tire. Yours look like they might be 32”. I am surprised that you got momentarily hung up on that shelf while in super extended mode. That obstacle must be taller than it appears in the video. Probably the camera angle. Video rarely conveys how steep a climb is. With as much trouble as the first two Landies had it did not surprise me when some of the others couldn’t make it all the way up. When I saw the older Disco I suspected that would scramble right on up. They are beasts.
Picking my lr4 next week the garage has put a brand new set of side steps like them i was like I'll give you them back in a couple of weeks because I'll be fitting rock slider bars lol
The LR4 had too much fun hahahaha. You blokes made them drag their sidesteps HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA WANKERS ! really fun to do but the defender bloke needs to slow down mate. Crawl and she will make it. So much fun !!!!
Started watching the vid thinking I'd never heard of a green lane called "Broke Side Step"....Then it became evident how thick I am..! Great vid, looks fun.
@@RobertDawson85 even with mud terrain tires, i would have never thought the shogun would suceed... The shogun has poor approach n departure angles, so only thing that would help it is a lift i guess... But it actually made it up there😅
We measured the weight of lr4 and a Toyota on weight machine This car is much heavier than you think Toyota -2.8 tones Lr4 can an exotic 4 tones with only bull bars and rooftails for extra The landrover information is wrong The all are too heavy !
