Having driven Discovery 3 and 4's for 11 years I can assure you the rear seats on either are more than comfortable for long journeys. I often used to drive my family to my parents in Wales (5 hour trip) and my wife preferred the last row as they were more comfortable than the middle row. The 5th incarnation of the breed are nowhere near as spacious for foot/legroom and headroom. The smaller windows on the new model and raked C pillar give a sense of being cramped also. LR say that the seats will suit 95% of adults whereas the 3/4 suited all adults. I'm 6'2" and hit eighteen stone and have no problem sitting in the rear seats for journeys of four hours plus. I suggest you sit in them both to compare as I have, you'll be surprised how good the third row is in the 3/4 and what a compromise they are in the "All new" Discovery.
Very nice video and looking forward for the full review, but actually I disappointed about the full changing of the current design of the Discovery I'm obsessed with this boxy shape, it's a tangible 4x4 machine and by revealing the new generation I'll miss the last legendary real off-roader from Land Rover after the dead Defender :(
Did you actually sit in the third row of seats? You state they are restricted for legroom and are only really suitable for kids. Sort of proves you didn't as they have the most legroom of any 7 seater on the market and adults of six foot plus will find them comfortable for long journeys.
+Huw Williams Adults will not be happy back there for two hours on the motorway. The new generation Discovery is a different story as Land River have gone out of their way saying they are suitable for adults.
