You can of course connect up the IID to your phone app. this is just a quick and dirty way to checknthe battery charge (engine off) and if the alternator is working (Engine on). You do not need an IID matched to your Vin and you don't even need to open the bonnet!
TIP: If you are crazy enough to own a Land Rover (a LOT of us are 😂)... be sensible enough and buy a GAP iid tool.. it is THE handiest glovebox tool you can buy 👍
