This video just came up on my recommended and I have a disco td5 and I turned it into a van and it’s the farm vehicle I ripped the back seats out and built shelves opposite the to back doors and then put a wooden wall behind the shelves and the boot is used for the loading area

My father picked out 2001 discovery 2 es7 new from merlin Cardiff when I was 22 and we did a deal with them that we would take it away, put marine primer on chassis and cills and they would waxoil it..best thing we did even know I remember the salesman saying “you won’t need to do that son, these are built to last” lol 200,000 miles later and it’s never been welded and is now my wife’s daily car. We won’t ever get rid as it holds so many memories now from collecting my son from hospital and 17 years later teaching him to drive and him passing his test in it. We’ve been all over Scandinavia and artic circle and most of Europe in the old girl and it gets treated like a family member… on the whole it’s been a brilliant reliable vehicle! If you drop the sump make sure you replace the oil pump bolt and lock thread it well as they can come loose! Also, the rear windows have a felt material seal which drops down making wind noise, I went all the way to Spain with it driving me crazy! If you put the window down and put a screwdriver into the channel, push and lift up at the same time the seal should lift up stopping the wind noise.. anyway, nice looking disco!

Odd as I had been told about them dropping Good advice and let's see on the next videos how it looks underneath and how the service goes with the leaks lol Take care bud

Can never quite understand the mindset that buys a 20 year old vehicle, takes it down a muddy track, and then wonders why it starts falling to bits. I have a disco 2 that I have no intention of "taking off-road", but should I need to then I know I can. Having said that, they do have a tendency to have "reliability issues", but for an old girl who has been to the moon in miles done, I would be hard pressed to drive anything else.

I have to agree bud , I do like them but all have the same problems, you have to love them to own one knowing your going to have to pay out soon lol. But just a few videos to help keep them on the road

@@marksavage But at least we can "work" on them. Yes you need fingers that dislocate themselves, (LR why didn't you make the engine bay 2 inches wider ffs. As any girl will tell you...). Anyway back to matter in hand. How many "modern" cars would you like to work on? More sensors than a trident missile and twice as complicated. Great videos anyway thanks.

@@sisyphussapprentice8976 totally agree as in the service I just did on the wife's car You can't even do the rear breaks on most cars today as you need a computer lol

@@marksavage When I was a "lad" we had a similar aid...It was called a lump hammer. Would fix most things, including your wretched computer.😀
