Excellent video, I showed this video to my wife to prove why we need to by an L322.

Its a good thing Range Rovers switch from torsen center diffs to the electronic limited slip/locking differentials they have now. Cause having that much slip front to rear always kinda sucks.

Someone give this man a r51 pathfinder for testing. Thank you

Something is off. That 1990 shouldn't be performing like that with the center unlocked. There is zero interaxle slip, which doesn't make sense for a VC coupling. Either the VC is setup for nearly locked static friction, its broken and stuck in hump, or the center is locked.

There are no lockers. We don't know if center visco has that hard setup or if it's stuck in hump. Handling seems to be fine.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers It's true that the viscous coupling in the Range Rover Classic's transfer case isn't known for being particularly hard. It has a reputation for being a little lazy to react. Now, criticism often comes from off-roading, in the low range. If you look at how a VW T3 performs in the same situation, you can see that it might be good enough for this kind of test. Now, just the difference in the operating concept of a visco + differential VS Torsen differential goes some way to explaining the visual difference in operation. But I still ask myself the same question One thing that could have been interesting was to have one of the rare Range Classic in the higher trim levels with the V8, some models of which are equipped for the first time with the ETC system acting only on the rear wheels. It would also be interesting to compare it with the Range P38a...

@@Softroader I think ETC on rear axle came up in 1993. It would be great to test such version but there is not much of them here...

@@4x4.tests.on.rollersIn France, ETC arrived with the LSE version in 1992.

Looks like in RR 2004 the electronics are not completely turned off. I haven't watched many videos on your channel, but I'm sure you've already noticed it. A common situation. Moreover, as the owner of a G-generation BMW, I can say that sedan's DCS can be completely disabled, but crossover's DSC are not. I learned about this and saw it with my own eyes at BMW's driving courses.

That's correct. Usually engine traction control goes off but brake traction control remains active.

I suggest to connect (at least) every two frictionless roller with a horizontal-adjustable connecting bars/bridges to prevent roller from sliding after high rev spinning of a wheel, and prefer to connect every roller used with each other. Thanks.
@4x4.tests.on.rollers
@4x4.tests.on.rollers 4 месяца назад
There used to be side bars but we removed them, they were giving a lot of traction. It's much better to do slight corrections with steering wheel.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers your answer inspired another suggestion: every roller is fixed to the ground by vehicle weight, what if you make the with two bases above each other, so a base is fixed to the ground by the vehicle's weight and the above base which connected to lower base by a rotating movement or a single DOF around vertical axis, and the above base must be fixed to lower base then this fixture freed after the vehicle's wheel is on the rollers!

@@LawatheMEid Unfortunately I don't understand what you mean, I don't see it. What would be the purpose?
@LawatheMEid
@LawatheMEid 4 месяца назад
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers to make the rollers spun with the wheel steering, in this case We simulate a horizontal two dimensional frictionless situation (wide spot of ice on the road).
@4x4.tests.on.rollers
@4x4.tests.on.rollers 4 месяца назад
@@LawatheMEid Oh I got it now. It would be complicated cause rollers would be higher. That means that all four wheels would have to be on some kind of platform in order to not exceed the suspension travel and to keep the car balanced.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers Would be interesting in an older 4x4 like this without traction control to install valves on the brake lines so that you could control brake pressure to individual brakes and stop the unloaded ones spinning
