I do not understand this? If the cam lobe is on full lift how can you wind the tappet adjuster down? the tappet/lifter will be hard on the top of the valve, I am assuming that you have wound the engine to full cam lift , but it was not clear at 12 mins where the cam lobe was. Also, if the engine was running OK before, how is it that you could turn the adjustment 2 turns down? I hope this makes sense but I thought the lifters were hydraulic? You can leave off the fan and cowling, I run my TD5 90 CSW in the south of France in temperatures of 40 C without going over normal temp. Chris B.
Hi, its the lash adjustment of the plunger of the solenoid that you are adjusting on these, i.e. when at full lift of cam you are winding the adjuster screw down to the full compression of the solenoid, then backing it off 2 turns to give the correct adjustment. hope that clears that up. the lifters are hydraulic and are separate to this, I was trying to see what was noisy... I will be doing a follow up video as i have found the problem, its gaining oil i.e. diesel leaking from injector into engine (not into cylinder into head so up not down) this is due to a cracked head, so getting that replaced then will do the video.
