Unfair competition? I stayed in a hotel here that was so primitive and run down I checked out after one night. That hotel is still operating... Airbnb provides customers with the security of refunds and insurance and reviews from previous stays. If a hotel has low occupancy maybe they should look at their high prices and the noise of the area they're in. It's far better that lots of ordinary people can enjoy the benefit of renting out spare rooms or apartments and spreading the wealth than a closed market without competition. And, the visitors who stay here enjoy cheaper room costs and therefore have more money to spend in local businesses spreading the money around more people again. Perhaps if the beaches and promenades were smartened up to the standards like say Estepona or Marbella then there would be plenty of demand across the board. I would be looking to boost holiday lettings ...as it benefits the economy to a greater extent as I've explained above.

Poor you. What about the hardworking people who can barely afford rent because the rich have bought up all the properties.

Investors who had invested in Gibraltar before July 2024, should not be taxed all of a sudden. They wouldn't have invested if there were capital gain taxes before Property sales taxes/capital gain taxes should be applied only on properties purchased after July 2024, if the Gibraltar government wishes investors to go elsewhere
