I once did a Land Rover I had with a roller. I warmed the paint in a bucket of hot water first (after adding some thinners) and it sort of blended/melted on to become very smooth after a few minutes. Dust was my main problem because it took a while to dry. Interesting stuff young man!
@@eddiewilliamsfastcarsjetsk5353 I agree that gloss is better and should be the finish on the paint job. A very fine hair bristle paint brush also gives a good finish too.
If you had used a smooth foam roller, then swept a paint brush along the paint it would have looked sprayed on with very little orange peal !! 👍 Good job though !
Thanks Mick. It had a high build primer on as the original body wasn't great so I wanted to hide some imperfections with the peel effect. It actually settled down alot to be fair. Thanks for the advice, next time it needs doing I will try that method.
I painted a Toyota truck almost the same blue. A couple of coats, sand about 1/2 of the orange peel, then another coat, another light sand and leave it. I used an 10”X15” scrap of metal to even my paint on the roller. ( just dipped in the can, no paint pan. When bubbles showed I hit it with a hair dryer med hear medium fan.) patched the floorboards with scrap metal from an old washing machine. Jacked the cab up and cut some wood to fix the sagging cab mount. Sold the truck for $1200 more than I paid for it. My step dad used to say poor people have poor ways. Read Proverbs 6:6-11
Thanks for the comment. I'm glad i didn't now as the time I wasted on it was let down totally by the brand and quality of the paint I used. It scratches so easily and has faded alot already. That will teach me for going for the cheaper paint.
@@eddiewilliamsfastcarsjetsk5353 tekaloid is always the best paint to use if doing it yourself same as coach painters and boat painters use and you can chose the finish ie percentage of satin or gloss . We are just about to paint a transit with roller and brush method so I came here to take a look at yours and the colour is almost same as we are doing but if I get half a chance I will be uploading a video. Great content on your part though and I love the landrover.
Thankyou. Good luck with the paint job. Mine was supposed to be satin also but dried Matt. It gives it some character I guess but all the work I did it still should look great but it looks like an old landrover haha... Never mind. Being a decorator and handyman I should have known better scrimping on materials 😢
@@NorthernGrowsUk Hi. Beware modern Tekaloid - it isn't the Tekaloid of old. Craftmaster paint is very good. Have painted several canal boats with it. 3 coats of primer, then flat back, 3 coats of undercoat then flat back, 3 coats of topcoat, flatting back after 1st and 2nd topcoats. Application always by roller, and tipped off vertically with an empty brush.
Do not go for paints for trade which I did as it was half the price of a decent company like paintman paints. So dissatisfied with the quality. Spend a bit more and buy paintman paints. They have advised me even though I didn't buy their paint.
Én is hengerrel festettem a Land Roveremet. Én szivacs hengert használtam egyszerű selyem fényű zománc festékkel. 1 liter festék elég volt az egész 110-re. Sajnos nem filmeztem le a festést. Egy hétig festettem, esténként munka után.
I found it really went on well and settled nicely after leaving a slight orange peel effect which I liked. Make sure it's a good quality roller. Wash it before use get any lose fluff out of it. Good luck .
@@gavinbroad1743 wash the brand new roller with water and soap. Dry thoroughly. Very minor orange peel. If you dont want orange peel then go over it with a large dry brush straight after rolling. Google coach painting.

Hi it was a satin paint from paints for trades UK but I wouldn't recommend them at all. It marks very easily and has water marks on it when it rains. Paintman paints seem to be the best for landrovers. Cheers.
