New sub to your channel. New to real camera photography as well, so I’m a sponge in learning mode. I’ve always liked photography and landscapes as there is something that speaks from within taking in the view all around. But something didn’t quite dawn on me before ever until watching this stunning landscape video and it’s that with a camera in hand, the whole world can be an adventure in any location, landscape and the most far off and obscure of places. It takes you to places and make you seek out places which can literally be anywhere that without a camera wouldn’t normally seem interesting or reason to hover there for hours soaking in the view, taking pictures of seemingly obscure things as light changes all around. And I guess to me that’s part of the adventure of photography besides ever getting better at stunning photography. That just finally dawned on me.

Stunning country with a bridge truly described as scary Nigel. You mentioned that the Faroes have the tallest cliffs in Europe. I believe that this fact belongs to the cliffs at Slieve League in Donegal Ireland.
@gunlaugurpersson6613
@gunlaugurpersson6613 5 лет назад
Sliabh Liag, sometimes Slieve League or Slieve Liag (Irish: Sliabh Liag),[1] is a mountain on the Atlantic coast of County Donegal, Ireland. At 601 metres (1,972 ft), it has some of the highest sea cliffs on the island of Ireland.[2] Although less famous than the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Slieve League's cliffs reach almost three times higher. Cape Enniberg is a cliff located on the Island of Viðoy. It is 754 metres (2,474 ft) high, thus one of the highest promontories in the world.[1] Enniberg is the northernmost point of the Faroe Islands.[1]
@_Shefarer_
@_Shefarer_ 5 лет назад
I think we are mixing up the definitions here :-) Slieve Leauge in Donegal Ireland, as far as I can find, the tallest sea cliffs in Europe at 1972 feet, true. Any mention of Enniberg (at 2474 feet) I could find at short notice defines it as a Cape. Don't ask me about the difference
@gunlaugurpersson6613
@gunlaugurpersson6613 5 лет назад
@@_Shefarer_ "Cape " Enniberg (Just "Enniberg" in Faroese) is a cape, true, but also a sea cliff for sure. I have been there several times.
@_Shefarer_
@_Shefarer_ 5 лет назад
@@gunlaugurpersson6613 Alright :-) I've been there numerous times as well. I was just trying to figure out why the cliffs at Slieve Leaugue are nominated as the tallest cliffs at 601m compared to Enniberg at 750m

Hi Nigel, Your photography is taking you on some great adventures to some stunning places. Glad your sharing it with us. That bridge looked pretty dodgy for sure but I think Khumbu Icefall Ladders on Everest must be the scariest - Aluminium ladders tide together so that they're long enough to bridge the crevasse and you have to walk on the cold steel with crampons on.

Probably too late now but to avoid motion sickness on a large boat sit near the middle. If you're at the bow of the boat you feel every bit of up and down movement. Also make sure you can see the horizon.

My mate gets seasick stepping in a puddle so the last time we were working in the Channel islands he used seasick tablets for one trip ( he was sick) and on the return leg he used a remedy I had found online, ginger biscuits, not seasick at all. 1:55 I see you pointed out the light, as when you first started talking while on the boat I was like "LOOK AT THE LIGHT behind him...." I'm sure that bridge is quite treacherous. Although luckily it's not very long (I mean you want to see some treacherous crossings -- go look up the last 1/4 mile of Angel's Landing Trail in Zion National Park in the US. The last part (often referred to as the "spine") is very narrow, usually only a chain link fence to hold onto but nothing to protect you from falling, and the drop off in some places is 1000 ft+. The "spine" is also very narrow, like maybe only 3 ft wide in some parts.

Now I have followed both your and Mads Peter Iversen's great vlogs from the Faroe Islands and have been very excited to experience this place myself. I'm already planning my own trip and are now checking best time to travel and costs. Two questions: Mads was there in March, but when did you visit this place? Also - what kind of filters are you using? You mention bracketing so I wonder if you're using graded filters at all, but rather fix all in post. I thought your pictures (and Mads) are overwhelmingly beautiful and something I hope to manage myself. Too bad now it's over with more from these wonderful islands :-(
