@@ginaherold For real, I initially thought he was going to wake up earlier to go and snatch the tripod before Mads. The "rival" talk sounded like a prank was coming!
so refreshing to see your use of the SQUAre & Panorama.... I had to laugh at your shout-out to Square Space in the rain... Have you you made a video on how to protect your gear in the rain? Thank you
Thomas Heaton, rain god...rain clouds follow him around because they love him so much😁🤣...at least it can result in some interesting photography Love the images, especially the first. All are great though. ❤️📷
Hey, Brother! That second picture you took, of the little green bushes, might be one of my favorite pictures you've ever taken. Its alien-like strangeness and color contrasts is just amazing! What an amazing opportunity.
Absolutely love that second shot. The close up of the dunes and the bushes. There is something other worldly about it and it is full of interesting shapes, colours and light. Great work!
Hilarious moment of you talking about Mads as a “rival” given how much respect you have of each other! Was a pleasure spending a few days with you in Lanzarote.
I was lucky enough to be able to participate in the Canarian Photo Week and I just need to say one thing here. Those type of workshops and events are not cheap, but spending time with a fabulous group of joyful people united by a passion to explore, create and wake up at 5:30 morning after morning to enjoy beautiful locations and learn with amazing. humble, professionals like Mads and Thomas is priceless and just fills with infinite amounts of energy and inspiration. Huge thanks to you Thomas and all the organisers and participants!
Great comment Grzegorz K.G.! What improves your photography more? Buying a new $6000.00 body, a $2500.00 lens or spend the cash traveling & a workshop. Traveling and workshops are so much fun (oh I do like new camera bodies and lenses as well lol.) Cheer's from Vancouver Canada
The most impressive part of this video was your one-take promo read in the driving rain. 😆 Despite your shyness, you're a very good conference speaker. I attended the one you did in Virginia a few years ago, when you had no voice on day 2. Your Day 1 presentation was well worth the trip for me and I took your words to heart. When you said it was still a good idea to start a RU-vid photography channel, despite increasing market saturation, I decided to do it. It's made me a better photographer, even if I never approach your level of success or skill. So, don't sell yourself short.
I want to Share my feelings with you sir.. I have been watching your video for about 3-4 years. There is something different about your videos. If I keep watching, I keep watching. I love your videos. It's so inspiring. You will always inspire me like this. I wish you all the best... Love from Assam India 🇮🇳🙏🏻
Great to see you and Mads on a video together, two of the finest photographers that I have the absolute pleasure in watching. Loved that mud image and also your abstract image from the day before Thomas and again a good example that it doesn't always have to be vista images when the scene is tempting you to put on the wide angle lens
Great video Thomas! I also love the second shot. I was in Lazarote as well just 1 week ago but with wife and kid, so could not spend much time on photography. I was able to shoot ~5 rolls of film, can't wait for the developing.
Great photos Thomas!! And so funny this adventure about the search of Mad's tripod. I think that we couldn't enjoy Timanfaya in all it's magnificence... In any case I'm very satisfied with my results. It was a pleasure to share these days with you an the other workmates and assistants. Regards!!
That's a first: A sponsor shout-out video in the rain! Hope Square Space appreciates it. Mud cracks, I'll bet Ben Horne is jealous! Tremendous location and images, thank you!
Hey Tom, just wanted to let you know that your books arrived to me safely in the US last week. Also just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to sign both of volumes for me! It was a lovely surprise and thanks again for all the wonderful content over the years!
Man I would like to see that last shot in color, the warm orange light was just so unique, it looks like the colors you will see being in a different planet, like a science fiction scene. It makes those colors, texture and cracks pop like crazy.
We’re off to Lanzarote soon for three weeks. Walking, caving, photography and of course some sunshine. Wonderful island. We went last year and the island had had a lot of rainfall and I’ve never seen the island so green as plants and flowers burst through after the rain. Thanks Tom I enjoy your videos.
Great video Tom! Was so good to finally meet you in person and getting to learn live on location 😊 you did well to be civilised with your competitor Mads 🤣😋
Brilliant shots. Love the second shot from outer space. ❤❤❤❤ My tripod could write a book about being abandoned. Happened so many times. 😂😂😂 You and Mads are my dream team. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. Found some mud cracks in a farm yard the other day. 😮😮😮
Beautiful images as always, Thomas. I've been to Lanzarote at the end of last year, of course without Your opportunities with Timanfaya, But I took a nerve-racking busride in the Parc like everynormalbudy on the island , with some great views of craters and lava-channels and all the good stuff. Enjoy Your stay
Oh these mud cracks are such a treat, I like a lot the photo you made. This is indeed a fantastic place, you're all so lucky for the time you had there to explore and enjoy this gorgeous park, even under the rain, it wouldn't be fun otherwise. Thanks for bringing us along! Cheers!
Always great when you have a one sided conversation with the audience, there could be more, it's just so engaging. Thank you for taking the sunset photo as well, it might be too much, but I love the colour, and yes, that 2nd shot is so fab.
Love mudcracks. Got some around me, Tom. You need to come over this year. The light on your "cracks" was stunning. Made it look like mercury (or similar). Great video.
Oh and one more thing. Best thing I've learned there: landscape photography is HARD and EVERYONE takes some bad photos. It rarely just, "arrive, obvious shot, snap, epic picture"; it's about persistence, constant curiosity, and most importantly being on location and being aware, not just about the obvious, but about a myriad of small scenes that can unravel around you
Wow! Totally awesome to see you and Mads together. You 2 are who makes me look forward to Wednesday nights. Of course i got a triple treat since Gavin posted today too.
Hey Thomas, this was another enjoyable video with interesting pics. Your second shot and mud shot were fantastic. The second fascinating pic looked as if it came from another planet and the way that you captured the mud cracks in black and white is gorgeous. Last, the section about Mads was hilarious😂
Saw an IG story from Mads where you were sitting at the award show and shaked your head at him filming you, I wasn’t sure if it was for fun or not ;) glad it was for fun 😄
Your videos are my absolute favorites - you always find something quite unique. The second image (@3:04) is incredible and the first question that popped into my mind was how you were able to take a picture from a different planet? The imaginary sky above the sand dunes added a great sense of interstellar wonder. The mud crack was a wonderful find and good of Mads to share it with you. Thanks again for bringing us along on a great day of discovery!
Great work , and i get the mud cracks i really do , i thouhg the water in them might have made for a interesting concept , if they are full just ful and not overflowing , a closeup shot of droplets hitting the water or reflections might be interesting , to be honest my landscape has gone down a bit lately , just more working on my channel i think ill get out there soon with my gear again
Gosh how great that you got the allowens to shot inside the park. Seems you was there in January with most rain days there. Real great shots love it! Don't know if you spoted Teneza if your intretsted into amazing shore lines and nice abstract rocks.
I go with the first shot of the day, Thomas. Colours and shapes were delightful. I am mad also as I agree with you about the sound shots, super abstracts!
Lanzarote, what a place! I went when I was a kid and I have vivid memories of it feeling like a totally different planet. I recently went to Tenerife and got some of my best shots of last year, so we can say for sure the Canary islands are a gem for photography.
Some people like vibrant images some subdued, that's why we ask get the freedom to like what we want. It's just that often times what we as individuals find most appealing isn't what the people were watching on these RU-vid channels are photographing. It didn't mean that the photographer is right and the viewer is wrong or vice versa is just subjective viewpoints from our own personal aesthetic.
