I can't get enough of this place! I visited Yellowstone years ago and it was a short visit. Do you prefer Yellowstone NP over The Grand Teton NP? My favourite is the Grand Tetons but I'm curious what others think. Thanks for watching!
@Trish12303
@Trish12303 7 месяцев назад
That’s a hard question to answer. They are both spectacular places. However, if I had to choose one, it would be the Tetons. But Yellowstone runs a very close second. 🙂

Great work Matt! Those roads brought back great memories for me. We lived in Idaho Falls and I could see the Tetons from where I worked, turn around, and then see Craters of the Moon off in the other direction. A month alone with camping gear would allow me time to shoot about everything that catches my attention. Some of my favorite photos of my children were taken in the Tetons with beautiful blue water. I look forward to seeing what you have to share next.

I have shot that barn with 80 other photographers. It was an experience and we had smoke filled skies
@MattShannonPhoto
@MattShannonPhoto 7 месяцев назад
Wow, during the summertime I'm assuming yes? 80 is a lot! Was it a good experience, bad or just a wild experience dealing with all of that?
@johns6290
@johns6290 7 месяцев назад
@@MattShannonPhoto it was not bad really I got there at 5 am and was the second one there to claim my spot. It was cold though but everyone was having a good time and I met a few good photographers too. I was about where you were when the sun came up and then people left and I went over to behind the little bridge over the swale to the left of the barn and shot higher there. It was very smokey and the mountains could barely be seen.
@MattShannonPhoto
@MattShannonPhoto 7 месяцев назад
@@johns6290 My lungs are burning just hearing that the mountains couldn't be seen. I've photographed a lot in smoke and sometimes it can be a blessing. Some of my Black and White images in the smoke look really cool. like fog really. The smoke also creates a long lasting sunset....so that can be neat. Glad you still had a good time!

Ah yes, Twin Falls, the site of Evel Knievel’s fateful 1974 jump of the Snake River. That 70-200mm 2.8 is one of my favorite lenses, surprisingly useful for landscapes. Your video took me back to September last year where my wife treated me to a guided two day wildlife photography workshop in GTNP. Fantastic, but some of those honey pot locations like the Moulton Barns or the Oxbow are difficult to shoot with the hordes of photographers just like you and me. But the Tetons and Yellowstone are sure worth the trip.
@MattShannonPhoto
@MattShannonPhoto 7 месяцев назад
I completely agree about the 70-200mm 2.8 - it's a versatile lens with surprising capabilities for landscapes. Your wildlife photography workshop in GTNP sounds like an incredible experience! Dealing with crowds at popular spots is a challenge, but the beauty of the Tetons and Yellowstone definitely makes it worthwhile. I met a lot of photographers during my time in the national parks. tried to make the best of it. Showing up super early is a good idea.

Matt, Thank you for sharing the beautiful images from your Grand Teton Mountain trip. Great Video! Do you sell your 'Trek - West' clothing items, as I've never come across clothing listed? Also, have you created a video of how you set up your Jeep for multi-day camping trips? THANK YOU!!!
@MattShannonPhoto
@MattShannonPhoto 7 месяцев назад
I started Trek West years ago. I rigged up my Jeep to take clients on private sessions to remote locations here in British Columbia (Mostly Vancouver Island). We travel to giant trees, waterfalls in caves, hidden gems really. I use to have a clothing line of Trek West swag on the side. Hoodies, hats, t-shirt....etc. I didn't want to spread myself thin so I stopped designing TrekWest clothing. I might start it up at some point since there is more and more an interest in it. I have some clothing: hats, hoodies and toques left. Yes, I plan on releasing a Jeep Setup episode of all my gear. I love the way it is set up right now. Thanks for asking and stay tuned!

Great video Matt. Love the Tetons. I saw several photos shot at f/4. Were you stacking a series of shots to get the sharpness? Why stack at f/4 vs. f/11, supposedly the sharper aperture on most cameras?

The photo of the barn reflected in the water is great.P.S.: Isn`t it possible to stich the photos together in the camera?
@MattShannonPhoto
@MattShannonPhoto 7 месяцев назад
Glad you liked them, thank you! I know you can overlay images in camera but I’m not sure about stitching images together. Most drones have a stitch image option for panos, but I’ll have to do a bit of research on the newer cameras. Great question though.
