PART 3 - Isle of Lewis & Harris - OUTER HEBRIDES
Today we went exploring more of the Isle of Lewis. We started off by visiting the Calanais Standing Stones, they are an extraordinary cross-shaped setting of stones erected 5,000 years ago. They are said to predate England’s famous Stonehenge monument, and were an important place for ritual activity for at least 2,000 years. We also visited a few beaches looking for wader birds. As the weather wasn’t great we did a few road miles too, exploring some of the small villages.
All images and video footage has been taken either from the car, strolling on a beach, or from a public footpath to minimise any disturbance to the wildlife. This video collates highlights caught throughout the day with the following equipment :
