I wanted to update my own question here with details I wanted to find out before I bought my car but impossible to look up online. I finally bought the Palisade SE (base model) 2023 and here are the answers to my own questions: Lane Centering (HDA) keeps me dead center in the lane, it does not ping pong and almost never goes over the lines or get close to it, but it has two catches, a. You have to touch the steering wheel every ~90 seconds just a quick tap is enough and b. It does not turn in sharper radiuses so if the road has sharp turns you cannot use it, and in the middle of the turn just beeps and disables itself so it can get dangerous, basically it works for open higher speed freeways, not mountain roads and c. It can disable itself if it doesn't see the lanes (works great at night and rain but not heavy snow), and for some reason it does not give you any sound feedback when it suddenly disables itself. Smart Cruise: Adjusts to the speed of the car in front, while you need min 20mph to activate it, after that it can go all the way down to a stop and go traffic speed which was a must for me. On higher speeds it caps your speed to 10+ the local speed limit. All local speeds are programmed in the car so it knows your local speed limit and you will quickly know about speed traps in the middle of interstate freeways when passing small towns as the car will suddenly slow down in a nice wide open freeway, yes, speed traps set by local towns and local cops usually wait around to issue tickets, and after the town the car speeds back up, you can see a lot of these on the road from Vegas to Utah for example. If the car in front goes too fast, the Palisade speeds up to 10+ speed limit only it does not go over. In full stop traffic if the car is stopped more than 3 seconds, it wont take off from full stop but beeps to tell you the car in front has taken off in case you arent paying attention and a tap on the gas pedal makes the car go back into smart cruise and follow the car in front. It can also do 5+ or 0+ the local speed in the settings, I just do 10+ because everyone does that. LFA, LKA, LKA+, HDA2 are are confusing marketing terms, if someone knows what the calligraphy does that my car does not, please reply!
Is LFA the same as LKA? Very confusing. I've looked at many Palisades high and low trim and they all have LKA and none, even expensive ones over $55K don't have LFA.
All Palisades as of 2023, even the lowest $35K SE trim have Hyundai's Highway Drive Assist; HDA which includes lane follow or lane centering. This makes the Palisade one of the best values in new cars.
LKA basically helps keeps you from crossing the line of the lane. But only when you are going 40 MPH or more. It turns on every time you turn your car on. LFA attempts to keep you in the center of the lane regardless of your speed. You have to tap the button on the steering wheel to activate it.
For me it a button on the steering wheel that looks like a page, or a rectangle with lines in it, press it to cycle through the visuals until you see what you want
if it cannot avoid car crashes then its just another vulnerability to worry about, I hope you will continue to offer cars with sticks and a mechanical fail-safe to disengage the engine in case the software misfires.
