the only thing is that, your skin should be completely clean before toner. toners, especially this hydration one, is not meant to clean off extra residue. if you feel like you have to do that after cleansing, you’re not doing it correctly
I LOVE how you referred to EWG grading scale as I use the app all the time to look at ingredients! Thank you for sharing this, it seems like an interesting product and I love that it has no fragrance! 💙
I actually pat a few drops of this as the final step in my makeup routine. Adds a dewy glow, keeps my skin hydrated and prevents my makeup from caking. You can also decant this into a mister to hydrate your face in the middle of the afternoon if it's feeling dry. A good product for those with dry, dehydrated skin
I've been binge watching your videos today. I noticed you have several playlists. Would you consider adding separate playlists for cleansers, toners, serums, essences, moisturizers, masks, eye care, exfoliators, sunscreen, haircare, etc? It would make it easier to watch specific categories of skincare. Thanks!
I’ve been using this for almost a year now, as a moisturizer, and i love it. At first I bought it because of the hype, but found it’s a perfect layer under Tretinoin cream at night. (No irritation at all!) I also love it in the AM under my sunscreen. I don’t do the whole 7 layer thing, one good layer is all it takes….i put it on damp skin, right out of the shower. Getting ready to buy my third bottle.
Love how thorough you are with your research on ingredients and all! That's great! Btw, you're glowing :o ! I'm pretty sure a lot of people use it as an essence for its hydration property. At least that's what I do. I heard some people with oily skin would only use it in the summer time and add sunscreen on without puting on a moisturizer.
Definitely, those with more oily skin would probably love using this directly under sunscreen, and it eliminates the issue of sunscreen pilling because of too many layers of skincare. I could also see the Klairs Supple Preparation Toner working with under sunscreen.
I am SOOOOOOO glad you did this review...i had it in my cart, but now i have for sure changed my mind...I value your opinions so so much...You are the best. xo
I bought this the day they released it at Sephora. You can get it cheaper through Kbeauty sites like Yesstyle, but I wanted the option to return in case my sensitive skin freaked out lol. I actually use it as my moisturizer after toner and serum during the summer (sometimes will add some squalane). I have combo skin and use tret... it's really helped with the flakies. I agree though, not sure it can really replace both a toner and moisturizer. I'll sometimes still use something like a sleep pack over it if I'm really dry. I really like the product though.
I love buying from yesstyle or jolse, but it would be a pain to try to return anything, and shipping sometimes takes a while depending on inventory. I could see how combo skin would love this toner because it does add hydration without feeling greasy.
I have been doing the cream skin trend without realizing it. I'm pretty lax with makeup. I usually just wear moisturizer and sometimes sunscreen but honestly in Western Washington in the winter we don't get enough sunlight. The 3 part Harmony by origins is about the same thing. It's like a toning 2 oil and 1 cream moisturizer. You shake it, spread it on your hands and pat on your face. One thing I LOVE about it is... With the amount that I use that bottle lasted about a whole year...plus, since I got it around December last year.
Sometimes a simple routine is good for skin- I totally know what you mean about not getting any sun all winter. I hope to see the sun again one of these days- Minnesota Winters can feel soo long!
Fantastic review! I appreciate that you break down the ingredients chemically... but it’s not so technical that it goes over my head... if that makes sense 😀. There are too many people doing skincare reviews... and their skin is terrible! How can they be trusted you know?.... Your skin is absolutely radiant! Beautiful! It gives me extra confidence that you practice what you preach and I love that. Thank you!!
You are very welcome! This is a great Toner, it doesn't do miracles, but it's always nice to find Well formulated, decently priced, alcohol and fragrance free toner.
I probably wouldn't use this as a toner but as an extra layer of moisture. It looks like it might really do well in the dryer winter months for my oily skin.
Laneige is doing a good job of coming out with some good products, especially for sensitive skin and people who don't like a lot of Fragrance or denatured alcohol in their skincare products.
I’ve been eyeing this, I luv Korean skincare its so gentle, high quality, and affordable (mostly haha). I’d use this after toner, before heavier serums as a booster to my moisturizer at night. I slather myself in heavy goop at night 😜 but will be interesting to test in the daytime heat as a light moisture option. Wonder how it fairs under makeup.
Hmm.. I'll have to try it out in my morning routine and see how it fairs. I also cover myself up in goop and oil at night. Crazy how by the time I wake up it's all fully absorbed. 😆😁
I think that this sounds great but don’t know if I could fit it into my routine. A good two in one is FAB’s Moisturizing Smoothie Primer, even though I still use another moisturizer with it. I know that some people can get away for using it w/o one, but my skin’s just too dry. Well, actually, if I wear a really hydrating serum I can get away w/o a moisturizer. It is a lovely product though:)) Thanks for the fantastic review, beeeautiful🍃🌸
I have been considering trying this out however I just recently got the Misha time revolution essence I believe it’s called and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and comparing it to the Tatcha or the SKIII one. I have been trying to make sure none of my toners have alcohol in it and I’ve only been using the Missha one for a couple of days so we will see 😍
I really like the Missha one too. I love that it's a more affordable version of the sk-11 toner. My only issue with the Missha Essence is the inclusion of acetic acid, thankfully it's the last ingredient, but very sensitive skin can have issues with it so just keep on the watch in case you have any issues.
No BS Beauty ok, I will. If not I will try something else. I am so into Korean Skincare right now! I swear by the Laneige sleeping mask! It’s so good and hydrating for me Day/night and pretty simple ingredients.
I am glad you mentioned using a toner in this video, I would like to start using a toner but am not sure what to purchase. I have dry sensitive skin that has a bit of congestion, what toner would you recommend that will help eliminate the congestion as well as hydrate the skin. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
A few good ones I like: The Kiehls Calendula Toner is a good, but basic, alcohol free toner. I like the Indie Lee CoQ10 Toner, but it is a like expensive. I would avoid anything from Clinique since they still include a lot of alcohol in their toners. I really love most of the Cosrx toners- their AHA Clarifying Toner is great so is their Centella Asiatica Alcohol Free Toner. I also like the Simple brand Micellar Cleansing Toner- very solid and affordable.
Oooh thank you! The lippie is my first purchase from Melt Cosmetics, it's their matte lipstick in the color Pink Heels. Must say I was pretty happy when the formula, pigmentation, and lasting power without getting dry.
Toner shouldn't be applied by rubbing cotton pads. It's too abrasive for the skin. If you're concerned about residue being left over, then you should do a double cleanse (with or without oil cleanser), and then toner should be splashed/sprayed onto skin and then patted into the skin. This is what K beauty advocates for.
I just got this last week and have used it daily since. I definitely prefer using a cotton pad - patting it on my face has unfortunately just left my face sticky :(
If you are cleansing with an oil cleanser firstly then a non foaming gel cleanser afterwards you should be able to use this without a traditional toner. Thorough double cleansing will dissolve and remove all makeup and sunscreen. Just to clarify that Amore Pacific do not test on animals but any skincare, cosmetics or haircare sold in China is tested on animals by the relevant Chinese authority. I'm on my second bottle of Cream Skin and I love the amount of moisture I get from such a lightweight formula. If you purchase this from a Korean website you can get the spray bottle version which is lovely to use, just mist on then press in with your fingertips.
Good review. Is this similar to the lancome comfort? I tried the lancome comfort and it was just too moisturizing as a toner. I guess you can't get too much moisture but I prefer my moisturizing benefits in a cream or even serum. It looks like a fantastic winter product. My sister uses there line and love it. I haven't never tried there line with the exception of their lip mask which is decent.
I have used that toner, I used to use that whole line from lancome. I would say that they are both similar in the fact that they both feel very Hydrating. I'm thinking if you didn't like that about the lancome you probably wouldn't like that about this one either. I do know what you mean, it depends on my routine, but if I'm looking for some Soothing from overdoing it with AHA's or Retinol I'll definitely use this toner.
I have combo skin and can't use this without my other regular toner. It's a nice product though and I did see some benefits from it. Unrelated but what are you wearing on your lips? I love the colour!
Thank you, it's my first purchase from Melt Cosmetics and it's their matte lipstick in the shade Pink Heels. I actually really like the formula because it's pretty pigmented, long lasting, but doesn't feel dry at all. I wasn't too sure about the color but once I tried it on I think I like it. 😁
Laneige is so hit or miss with their products- they have some amazing products like this, then crazy overscented sunscreens... Just never know what to make of this brand but their winners are great!
I was looking at the Supergel Oil-Free moisturiser from Face Theory today and I was wondering what you would thinking about it but I don't even know if they ship to the US? Anyway, I would love to know what you think!
I am hoping that by 2020 all cosmetics will be cruelty free- they are making great progress on it, and China seems willing to work with beauty companies that don't want to test on animals. 😃
I have it... I would not use it in the summertime but otherwise it's an ok emulsion. Still I do not get the hype... I mean "cream in a toner" is what all emulsions are supposed to be right? 4 example I am just trying the Missha time revolution homme emulsion these days and that one is just fantastic (apart for the strong balsamic scent - that is winning me over anyway). It is much more moisturising than the Skin Refiner. Laneige tends to leave me unimpressed most of the times I have to say...
Missha does such a great job with their products- the Laneige Toner is good, but is it "a run out and purchase" product, for me, probably not. Laniege products tend to be kind of bland for me most of the time. Their favorite version of their sleeping mask is their Cica Sleeping Mask, but that version isn't at Sephora yet. The other versions of their sleeping mask (the water sleeping mask, and the lavendar sleeping mask) aren't the most exciting products I've ever tried.
@@NOBSBeauty yep I agree: Laneige is an ok brand don't get me wrong but it rarely surprises me. One of the problems with the Skin Refiner is that it is not clear what it wants to be and in the end it is neither the best toner nor the best moisturiser... it is something in between, too rich for the summertime and too light for the wintertime.
I'd probably pat on the laneige, give it a moment to absorb, then apply The Cosrx after. The Cosrx is pretty thick so it usually works better over other Toners.
I totally agree with you if you use it as your only source, but using it as one reference point with other references is how I use it. I think they rate Retinol as a "dangerous" ingredient, which is kind of ridiculous.
Oh that's great! I ordered it yesterday and I was in doubt because I heard that Laneige water night mask has silicone, and I was afraid for this too. Thank you for your reply ❤️
I don't get this product ... Is it a toner or a moisturizer? Is it both? If so, where does my serum go? It's not for people that have multi-step routines at all. Also it's extremely disappointing that the active ingredient is second to last on the ingredients list. Other than the tea it's just your basic humectants. Super underwhelmed. Hard pass for me 🙄😑
I can appreciate a 2 in 1 product, but in my opinion this is really just a toner, but it doesn't do a ton for Moisturizing, really just works better as a toner with a cotton pad.
