The Laney line of amps is quality. They have had to fight to gain market share, but they did it the right way, with quality gear. Excellent both in the studio as well as live performance. Winner Winner, Chicken, Dinner!
Hi Jonathan, thanks so much for your detailed review to show the aspects of this amp. It seems so versatile for any user. The tones produced were so great in a compact device. Loved it. Cheers ✌️🎸💜
Great review. The only thing I would've liked to have known is how high could you set the volume on the clean channel whilst still getting a purely clean sound with no break up. Thanks
PCB John not hand wired. Nice to see they are actually building them in the Uk again but imagine with parts sourced from China. You do a really great job reviewing this gear … Thank you
I got this off of ebay for 350 (and the cab for 300), 3 months old, the dude just disliked it 😂 don’t think he played it twice. I replaced the tubes (rattle) and it is now my best friend 🎉 Only thing I dislike is the reverb which distorts unpleasantly with higher gain input, but since I use it as a pedal platform (which it’s great at) it’s not a problem for me.
Designed, engineered & made with pride in Great Britain, the L5-STUDIO is the first - and only - Single-Ended Class ‘A’ tube amplifier that has the ability to interface directly with any DAW hughes and kettner has the same features. also they may have been first.
Does the drive channel still work well at low volumes? A few people have told me you really need to crank it to get the sound you would want. I have a Fender Vibro Champ at the moment. It’s a beautiful, clean amp that’s also 5 watts, but you need to use pedals to get overdrive sounds. So I’m thinking of buying the Laney. I miss being able to flick a switch to go from clean to drive. Your review was fantastic, as always 🖤
TBH, I’m not really sure as I was using the line out to my cab clone. I’m sure you are able to play at a relatively low volume without causing a National emergency..😆
Hi Jon, would this amp be loud enough for live situation ?? I would run it through a 1x12 cab then DI straight to the PA desk. Play mainly in small/medium venues. Thanks, Great Demo of the amp !!!
At about 20 pounds, 8 75kg, and $1000 USD, I think 🤔 one could do better fir the money by shopping around. Laney makes high quality amps, at premium prices, if you have the 💸 laying around. Nice demo!
