My question is simple: What do modern designers have against vestibules and/or entry halls? This idea of walking directly into the living room is just dumb on many fronts. First, weather. It rains. It snows. Who wants to be carpet cleaning weekly and replacing flooring every few years? Who wants blasts of hot or cold air going through the house every time the door opens? The other big benefit to a vestibule is that it prevents sneaky pets escaping outside.
