I can't help but think that if this was my very first exposure to McKenna, I'd almost immediately write him off as a lunatic. And in doing so, I'd be completely overlooking commentary that is not only as lucid and sane as could be imagined but also something we all desperately need to understand. In other words, if you're new here, keep listening.
