I'm not saying the monkeys are bad people, because they're far from bad. But despite this, as a species grows more sentient and able, its ego is bolstered, later leading it to be deluded that it is a rare specialty in the interdependent web of life. These creatures then begin to grow less social and more self-absorbed, as their sense of morals dissipate and they become twisted, dysfunctional collectives in the hive mind that is a shell of a former species of sentient, social, compassionate creatures. Humanity has gone down this truly imminent path. These beautifully sympathetic primate cousins of ours will in addition within few ten thousand years, if our reign of devastation and war over this scarred orb of blue allows for their further development mentally and physically

Actually a lot of animals bury the dead. It's not just a way to grieve. It's actually because the dead meat attracts predators that will endanger them. Even dogs bury dead dogs. It's an old instinct.
