In this video I have received a big sponsored battery for my Internet on a mountain project.
The company LANPWR - www.lanpwr.com has asked if I would help them, review/showcase one of their products in my video. And I ended up asking if I could review one of their Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) Battery. They said yes and shipped me a huge 150AH one,, awesome!!

1.8kWh can also sustain a server, a switch, a webcam and your 4G-router. Just add a few more solar-panels and you can have a mountaintop mini-datacenter 😎

The only problem using that battery is the cold in winter. Good idea to put it in a hole, but I would have put all of the electricals in to the box as well. You're going to have to do a little something to fix that panel as a storm will take it down. Also hire a small van and go find some pallets that are usually free :) Oh and painters ezale (what you put to paint on) maybe a better option as you can fix the legs in the ground and also adjust it all in one. Will we see a wind turbine at some point too?
@stuartajc8141

It is Portugal though, and the temerature doesn't often get below 10C, which wouldn't affect the batteries much
@MyPlayHouse

I only expect temperatures between -5C and 45C and when it freezes it is like a few hours. I am not putting up a wind turbine,, as there might be that nabo that does not like the look of it.

Hey Morten! May I just say that I totally envy you for having a summit of your own? What one could do with it! A little observatory! ^^) The downside is that summits attract lightning, and that pole will be the most likely candidate to get struck. I guess it is advisable to get a little metal hut up there to put the electrics and electronics stuff in and make a good low impedance ground connection. How steep is the slope up to the summit? It looks like some 100%/45° in the video. Probably too steep to tackle with any kind of vehicle, right?
@MyPlayHouse
@MyPlayHouse Год назад
My best estimate is a 25-30% steep.. :-)
@f-s-r
@f-s-r Год назад
That's a very good point. If there's no lightning rod nearby, and that's the highest point, it's likely to get struck by lightning. So, maybe it's a good idea to install a lightning rod up there? At least the connection to the house will be completely wireless, so there shouldn't be any danger to equipment in the house, even if the antenna gets struck.

Battery life tip: place a plank of wood under it to raises it more and to insolate it from the ground better ..the ground tends to drain batterys ..what its sitting on is good but adding wood too will help ..if they sit directly on the ground they go dead alot quicker
@dennisolsson3119
@dennisolsson3119 Год назад
Do you base this on the old myth for lead acid batteries? That myth is based in something like the case being of wood that could swell and crack the internal glass containers or made of rubber (if memory serves me) and would start conducting if it got moist. So basically technologies not used for like 100 years, but the myth lives on. :)
@MyPlayHouse

This is a old myth from back when batteries was poorly insulated. the plastic that is used today is good enough to be placed on well leading metal (as it is in almost every car) and it want selfdrain.

@@MyPlayHouse Hi Morten, very nice battery. The voltage difference seen between charge controller and battery is likely due to the thin wire and length of it. You could check the voltage drop along the cable with your meter. Also, luckily the battery has a built-in BMS because I am not sure the PWM controller would have the ideal charging settings for a LiFePo4 battery (they must NOT be FLOAT charged). Looking forward to you hooking it all up to the Mikrotik LHGG LTE6 kit for better PlayHouse 2 internet👍. Have I missed something though, how are you getting the signal back to the house from the hill ?
