Somewhere on Earth is heading to Asia, to discover Laos.
Leua, an itinerant vendor, spends part of each year traveling with his family on the Upper Mekong near the borders of China, Burma and Thailand. He knows this mythic river inside and out. Pheng is also an inveterate traveler but he sets out for the most remote corners of the country at the wheel of his old army truck. Pheng, who practices meditation, is progressing on the path of wisdom that all Buddhists dream of traveling.
A thousand km to the south, near the Cambodian border, are the Khone Phapheng Falls, the largest in Southeast Asia. Sohane is a fisherman, a very dangerous profession. Working above these turbulent waters, he places his life in the hands of the spirits of the Mekong.
What if paradise exists as a place on earth? In this 48 x 52 mins series, we travel to some of the most beautiful places in the world.
This documentary was produced by Patly Prod and directed by Laurent Cadoret. It was first released in 2015.

The scars on his face tell an amazing story. I have heard tales of those who were able to escape the war. Also, hear stories of those who didn't make it.

So, is it’s approval by the government before leaving the country or any special clearance fees ( how about the north side, why only in the south in most of any documentary on Laos ( why more safer )))

The boatman's two daughters need to be at school ! instead of sitting idle on a river boat. At least, they should be reading while on trip. This is their parents' choice to live on water, not their. Pls give them better opportunities through education.

Steven, Don’t be judgemental. Have some empathy.. did you not see how the villagers paid them for their pots.. a piglet? It is called “ bartering” I suppose you expect the Boatman to go to a store in Luang Prabang to exchange the piglet for a life vest . That piglet is food for the family for a week or 2. I bet he would love to send his daughters to School but alas…. Have you ever been to this part of South East Asia..? If not, please understand that 95% of the populace in Laos, Burma, Cambodia .. etc. “ eke out a living” I qualify to explain to you is because, I have visited all these countries & have seen with my own eyes… how these people live.
