Laptop For Streaming? Get Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Instead!
I noticed real hype about the EverSolo DMP-A6 recently. I never was a huge fan of streamers since I head a few in my life and I have never heard any regardless the price that was way better than a MacBook via USB port.
So with a huge dose of scepticism I borrowed EverSolo DMP-A6 and EverSolo DMP-A6 Master Edition from a local Hi Fi store HT Audio from Poznan Poland. I had a chance to compare them against each other and Dell and Apple laptops. Instantly after switching from Macbook (way superior over the Dell) to the EverSolo DMP-A6 Master Edition I heard bigger, more dynamic, better controlled sound. The vocals were more present and had more body. I'd say I made the decision to buy the EverSolo DMP-A6 instantly. The only question was whether I should get the Master Edition or the standard version.
It didn't took me long to decide on that as well. As I switched from EverSolo DMP-A6 Master Edition to the standard one, the energy that filled the room decreased drastically. The regular EverSolo DMP-A6 is in my opinion not as big of an improvement over the Macbook Pro as the Master Edition. The sonic difference between those streamers is definitely bigger than the price difference. So my choice become obvious very fast - EverSolo DMP-A6 Master Edition it is ;)

Thank you for this interesting content! It is actually very hard to hear any differences over YT and would be impossible if you haven´t done this extremely good A/B testing for us. Your speakers and all your gear all together sounds stunning! World class sound capture also :)

Master Ed DMP 6 is noticeably better from my perspective. Percussion is Clearer, plus more overall tonal color and body. Can actually perceive a bit of better stage (even over RU-vid).

It's the clock. Nothing sounds better than precision PCM clocking. You can play louder less listening fatigue.

#1 ES #2 MAC #3 Dell. I stream from my laptop using HDMI I don't know if this is better but it sounds good to my ears. This channel is killer, I can actually tell the difference in a real way not just sort of. Microphones are fantastic. The Qualio's are amazing. I'm a month late to this video but as they say better late than never. My favourite speakers Lascala. Ya love them or hate them. It's about the experience.

Great speakers you have. Enjoyed them very much at the Munich hifi show! Listening on earphones from my phone there is very little difference. Will listen again at the main hifi system that is ultra revealing. I am about to buy an Eversolo or a laptop as a streamer. Already the laptop via USB to DAC is a class better than Wiim pro plus via SPDIF to DAC.

As an update, I listened to the video again using my ultra high end system - my conclusions is that the differences were too small to matter and that a decent used laptop costing 400 -500 euro would do a great job - as good as Eversolo. I am not negating the conclusion of the author as he listened to the sound first hand. But based on what I have experienced from this video, I would say that you would get much larger differences from swapping USB cables. I use Tidal and manage my Tidal running on the laptop remotely from an iPad via Google Chrome Remote Desktop Connection, and it works very smoothly.

I myself have an eversolo DMP-A6 master series, VERS 1.2.40 BETA and genelec 1237a Studio monitors as speakers and just enjoy basic music in my living room. I would argue that a lot of them sound similar to each other, but if you listen to the same song a little longer, the differences start to emerge a little more strongly. Eversolo is richer, i.e. denser in sound and creates certain phase waves within the sound in the living room. Mac and windows are a bit softer or more matte compared to eversolo. They really aren't bad either. I'm pretty sure if someone has the speakers of the ONES series from Genelec, the differences in the structural density of the sound will be even better or easier for all people. Because the ones series is very very analytical to reveal even bigger deep secrets from many recordings and it is newer technology from Finland.

I have the A6 ME , before I was using my IPhone 15 Pro usb C to my DDC- DAC. It’s a very noticeable improvement, bass notes, soundstage , imaging , resolution, details , musicality , noise floor etc. Ofc I upgraded the power cord. Worth the $, easy to set up n use.

Thanks for sharing. I like the Eversolo very much as well, and yes changing power chords in a streamer / DAC can often times affect the sound more than changing the Power Cable on the amp :)

How is the kit fed? straight from the wall socket, are there any power purifier filters? And overall, these are stunning speakers, maybe one day I'll be able to afford them

Thanks for sharing. During that video shot I only used power strip. Now i added 2KW separation Transformer and it does change the sound quite critically ;)

Listening with my highly resolving Focals. The eversolo has more detail, definition and clarity in the high end. Mac is smoother. Windows is close behind, sounding a touch darker. I’d imagine on some systems you may not want the very slight extra top end information the eversolo master presents.

The Dell sounded compressed with the Mac less so. The biggest change came with the Eversolo. The Eversolo was brighter on the top with a distinct clarity, especially over the Dell. I am curious how the A6 Master would sound on my Yamaha integrated A-S3200 with Klipsch Forte IV's.

dmp seem to have mid range more present than the rest, windows device seem to suffer from lack in resolution and dynamics a bit, dmp and mac are so close I cant hear the difference. I run mac mini myself, but thinking of swapping it with dmp myself :P

The sound is slightly better, but I use a PC to view/control the content on my TV screen vs streamer. Finally, I had a Wiim Pro and the app would not display my playlists on Amazon HD as it is not native on the device. You had to search for content each listening session.

idk if the difference would justify the cost, especially since you can get software like audirvana, jriver, fidelizer, eq apo, HQplayer ect..

Yep. I agree Maybe I'll do such test with Audirvana later on. I used Tidal streaming on all three since thats the most often use case I believe ;)

Sounds exactly the same, which makes sense - digital signal is bit perfect, otherwise for example your bank transfer would have different values on mac and win10 laptops. Or pictures would have different colors depending if you keep them on hdd, ssd or usb stick.

agree - played the video on my ultra revealing system, and the differences were too small to matter - a change in USB cable would have a similar effect. However, the differences may be clearer in real life (info lost from microphones etc). As a result, I am buying a used quality Windows 11 laptop to use as a streamer, and will run Tidal remotely from my iPad via Google's Remote Desktop Connection application (runs very smoothly).
