première fois que je vois cette version..elle est magnifique et si triste..Lara...la vit totalement que de souffrances dans cette interpretation phénoménale bravo bravo
Pianist's name is Pierre Grimard. He was also musical director for this tour "En toute intimite". This concert is a masterpiece. If she's never done any other concert after it, she's done enough for a lifetime. Pure artistry.
Serge Lama told: "I adore Lara because she is emotionally indecent, she will never hesitate to do what the story requires, she doesn’t care how she looks or what would the others think, she delivers the message”
@@BangkokVoiceCoach in the same concert, she interprets her own songs and covers very different pieces from La Traviata to Calling You to Jacques Brel, Charles Aznavour or Celine Dion. Always with the same amazing acting and emotions conveying skills. Hint: she has been classically trained and still continues to be, she is a lyrical soprano and only swtiched to pop from opera because she is first and foremost a songwriter (in 4 languages).
J'avais jamais vu cette version. Après avoir vu des dizaines de fois la version à Montréal, je croyais qu'il était impossible de la surpasser. Quelle erreur d'avoir sous-estimé l'immense talent de Lara.
The most telling reactions I have ever listened to but then again, you had the most beautiful, heavenly performance of the greatest artist I have ever witnessed even though only on video. After seeing this, there is just no one to match this, not even remotely. She's 100% living that story. Something truly unforgettable for anyone who attended this performance, including and especially the pianist! The first for him, of that I am dead certain. The sheer exhaustion after this performance is more than just evident. I very much doubt that she would ever give a similar performance because of the energy it took just for this performance. If there is one song that Lara totally fell in love with, it can only be this one - "Je suis, malade". I would love to know what any journalist or anyone else had to say in the media about this. Thank you again for a brilliant and truly engaging reaction. I love it.
As Eric said, the most famous version is from the From Lara With Love concert just a few years earlier than this performance. But this one is also amazing. The whole concert is a gem and worth watching from beginning to end.
I am glad that you are commenting on this version of her singing Je Suis Malade, as normally it is from her other concert "From Lara with Love" that other people are commenting. Great reaction from you.
Tanti saluti dall'italia.
I wonder if this particular arrangement by Lara was motivated by the tragedy of Dalida's life, and death. She was literally, intensely and unbearably lovesick. This rendition by Lara transcended singing even more than she usually does; it was performance art
“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends. Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations. The 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eHSyk4SGtuY.html is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries. The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.
Dalida reminds me very much of Lara. Not just the luscious long hair! But also they way they colour words. Dalida didn’t have the high notes that Lara is blessed with.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach they both are from Italian descent (real name of Dalida is Iolanda Gigliotti), that’s another common point 😀 But yes Dalida and Lara are amazing emotional powerhouses
Great info! Quite recently there was a duet cover on the Dutch music programme Beste Zangers by Belgian-Latina singer Belle Perez, and Dutch-Turkish singer Karsu. Quite good, Karsu sings her part in Turkish!
Great you return to Lara. Lara change the way she interprets her songs in every tour. This is one of my favorite renditions of Je suis malade, from my favorite concert of her (2003 “En toute Intimité” at the Casino de Paris) Believe it or not, it’s even not the most famous version (this is this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eHSyk4SGtuY.html ) But I am glad you covered this one, and loved all your sensible comments. She is indeed famous for her conversational interpretations, able to switch from speaking to singing within the same breath. And she is also famous for being the best at riding the fine line between crying and singing . Now you understand what Dimash fell in love with: besides the vocal skills, it is about acting, interpretation, impersonating a character and conveying a story and the related emotions! And she does that in many languages WOW
Hello Eric Question do you have heard something on your site the Ring of Dimash's participates in lara concert in Astana ? Not yet on Dimash news but the channel does have speculation among the dears . Warm greetings from the Netherlands 🌷🇳🇱
@@Eannemarie739 no. even this concert is a question mark. Does it exists or is it an hoax? Awaiting confirmation from Lara side I was excited at first but now I’m cautious. It only pops up on what’s look like kazakh ticketing web sites but maybe they are fakes
What a wonderful reaction, William. Lara is a beautiful treasure. I have loved her for many years and was moved to tears when she sang "Ti Amo Cosi" with Dimash.
This is truly amazing rendition of a very powerful piece. Lara goes to such great lengths to deliver the deep feelings in this song. I was completely floored by the emotions she expresses in this performance. In addition, the almost spoken introduction and the unamplified shouted ending are strokes of genius. Lara Fabian does not simply sing this song. She shows us what is in the soul of the young girl. French is the language for deep feelings. The English ‘despair’ would fall off implying an ending. But the French ‘désespoir’ rises and lingers evoking ongoing pain. And there are subtleties in the lyrics whose ambiguities are so intriguing. When she was young and her mother went out at night, was she sick over it because her mother would rather not be burdened with a child? Or was it because this was the only way her mother could support her and the young girl was stricken by the thought that it was because of her? Good choice and good reaction.
When she is left alone on stage it makes everyone, and I mean everyone, now feel her total despair and aloneness. I’ve seen this often but know even now I would cry deeply if I watched this in concert.
@@BangkokVoiceCoach yes indeed. She had some fantastic coaching in her young career. Her confidence was well established by age 27 when her team showcased her talent in her first grand concert at Molson Stadium in Montreal. Take a look at that concert some day for a real treat.
She's great, Lara Fabian. The greatest singer, artist. Listening to her is an unearthly pleasure! And even Dimash is inferior to her in this divine artistry, penetrating into the very soul of everyone who listens to her. Goddess.
And totally agree with emotional power of spoken words in songs. Lara is the expert in that register. One of her many signatures. It seems easy but it is not. One needs to sing as easily as one can speak (no tension, hours of training, breath management, ....). But also your entire soul & being and body are living with the song to truly make it seamless, natural and emotional.... Great reaction. thanks.
This performance has much to recommend it, but my gateway drug to Fabian was her performance of it in the From Lara With Love concert. I far prefer that take on it. And down the rabbit hole I went. It was... astonishing. You should check it out. A little less theatrical & incredible choices/technique throughout. Control was was mind-blowing. This particular performance pushed the theatricality ahead of the voice a smidge too far for my tastes. (Not that I don't adore all her myriad approaches to her pieces. I'm a stan for the first time in my life. 😆)
BVC - Nice. Thanks for showing this version. I am not surprised, you seem to have good taste IMO. A GOAT-like performance by our Queen in a version many perhaps have not seen. Some say Lara is "too much" . I would respond, too much great singing? Too much (many) goose bumps? Too much immersion into the song taking you with her, whether you want to go or not? Too memorizing? Well maybe that.
@@BangkokVoiceCoachThanks again for this reaction\lesson. Please do not stop the Lara run now, the Queen awaits, long may she reign. I wish the best of the RU-vid voice coaches (like you) would subtitle their channels something like... "if the voice has been auto tuned I am auto out." If you asked Lara if she ever considered using auto tune she might answer, 'What is auto tune? Is that for your car?". Auto tune is an abomination.
Ohhh .. I was waiting for this!! Def one of my favorite performances!! Discovered Lara F trough Dimash and completly get why he's a huge fan!! Greatings from an old Danish Dear and Angel 🌷🇩🇰❤️
@@BangkokVoiceCoach Hi! Try to watch her performance of this song from the concert you reacted to her previous. It's was more beautiful than this persformance!
Congrats for the choice of the version to react to this song by Lara. It is definitely the most impressive/emotional one. Looking forward to more reaction to Lara's performances: Adagio, perdere l'amore both from Lara with love concert. I believe you already reacted to Caruso (also very nice version from the same concert en toute intimité). I subsribe!
Great reaction, I hadn't seen this performance before! Just wow ❤️ I love how she adds a little distortion when she discusses drinking, and then drops it again like it's nothing.. She's so amazing & it's easy to see the pointers that Dimash has taken from her ❤️ Speaking of whom, I hope you're also reacting to his latest, El Amor en Ti from the Almaty concert! It's bonkers 🤯😂
Hi William, thank you for this great reaction. Lara is one of the greatest singers when it comes to expressing feelings and emotions. Her voice is beyond doubt. But there was also a moment when Lara was overwhelmed by her feelings. You probably haven't seen anything like this before. I don't want to give too much away if you aren't familiar with this recording. - Je t'aime Lara Fabian French and English subtitles - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qO3b-MyyTZg.html Have a nice day and Greetings from Germany
Speech singing is not something everyone is capable of doing without it sounding disjointed. Story tellers draw you in with this technique. Very, very different artist, but Dolly Parton is a master in speech singing & I can get caught up in her story telling. At 78 years old she has adjusted the way she sings some songs. Lara & Dolly spoke about their voices changing with age & made almost identical statements concerning finding new areas within their vocals to highlight. When Dolly sings certain songs, she has a brother that is a high tenor harmonize with her, other songs she leans into the fragility of her voice. I discovered Lara maybe 8-10 months ago. Lara’s songwriting skills & Dolly’s are able to paint vivid pictures when they sing. I ❤️ both these artist. ✌🏼
@@saviourself687 , Dolly Parton turned 78 this year 2024 & she released her 30 track Rock N Roll album with 21 collaboration’s of the “who is who” in the Rock genre. I watched an interview with Dolly Parton on a talk show speaking of her long career. Do you know who she is? Dolly wrote her first song at 5 years old, began singing Country Music on a local Radio Station live at 10 years old, at 13 she released singles & albums that were being played on Country Music Radio stations throughout the United States, Dolly Parton had preformed on the Grand Ole Opera, and then moved to a Country Music TV program at 16 years old. At 27 Dolly went out to becoming a Star in Country Music, then a Crossover Pop Star, and then a Movie Star in Hollywood with hit movies: “9 to 5”, “Steel Magnolias”, and “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”. Dolly Parton has released more than 50+ Albums. Note: Dolly is well known for her Speech Singing, her ease in weaving in & out of her normal singing voice with her, speech singing voice; which, is very useful when a singer is a story teller, and I can forget she is singing because I get caught up in the story. Dolly Parton is a gifted song writer, Elvis Presley love to come by & dig through the songs Dolly wrote for Elvis, Kenny Rogers, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Joan Jette, and a song Lara Fabian covered that was written by Dolly Parton. Forgive me for not making my comments clear. Lara is an exceptional artist who is a song writer, a story teller, meaning I can get carried away by listening too the speech singing, that Lara makes a picture in my mind so vivid & clear. Many can sing, some can write songs, fewer can speech sing, and even less can tell a story singing. Do you know who Dolly Parton is? You might enjoy listening to “Dolly Parton I will Always Love you at PNC BANK” search on RU-vid. Dolly is dressed in white with Silver accents on her outfit. ❤️ Timothy
Hello William, I came to you after Dimash but I stay for you. ❤ There are, of course, different versions of this wonderful song. This one I didn't know, More often I listened to Lara from "With Love Concert". The whole thing is wonderful. I would like to draw your attention to another interpretation of this song. Little known and so wonderful that I can't help but mention it. This is the version of Daniel Levi, who sang this song directly for Lara, in a certain French TV show. If you have a moment, listen to this amazing singer. There is much less theatricality and drama in his performance and yet from the first listening I fell in love with his unique timbre and wonderful interpretation. Hugs.
@@ericsicard910 Thank you for your reply. Yes, it is very sad. I discovered him a year ago and this news was very depressing for me. I think it is important to write about him because he really was a unique singer and a great musician. Of course I know L'envie d'aimer, it's such a flagship song. :) I love practically everything he sang and one of my favorites is also Quarante Et Quelques.
I’ve only ever seen the version “From Lara With Love” that is itself incredible, a lot more singing. This one os just as great but from an older Lara and with a different perspective. You should still watch the other one but goodness, I’ve been meaning to find a perfect word for her and I kept thinking I need something musical but Shakespearean is what she is when she sings!
It s rare to see a reaction to her 2003's version. Which is the most intimate one I know. Her most famous version is from 1999. Anyway I hope you have the lyrics if you don t know the song, they worth it. Clever comments and emotive reaction. (and we re sick now)
Please, react to Lara singing the song YOU're Not From Here (Live). 19 seconds holding a C5 effortless. Lara spent 10 years studying piano, taking operatic/ bel canto lessons. She has been working for many years as a Coach (vocal technic) at The voice. She a Master in breath control, ressonance and emotion while performing. Thank you. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vv8XFXKXRLI.html Plus: Lara is the Dimash's idol. He already said many times that she inspired him since he was a kid. She used to listen and watch her, that's how much she has inspired him in the way he performs and sings.
Thankyou for reacting to this amazing song. For your own pleasure I think you would also enjoy this version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dVvlmpo5g9k.html - slightly less theatrical but gives more of her beautiful limpid voice soaring & tumbling. ❤️
@@BangkokVoiceCoach yes, I’m lucky to be bilingual, so just wanted to add that her expression exactly matches the words as they happen and the intonation is precisely what you would use if you were saying the words to someone in real life. It feels really 3-dimensional.
Thank you, this is stunning, I got chills! My jaw dropped when I 1st heard this with a different performance that was absolutely devastating but quite different from this one. Here's the link to that one, it is a masterclass: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5kp0dw4MuWs.html

Is she rehearsing a theatre production? Sorry Will I prefer her singing this 2003/4. Too dramatic for me. Lara appears to be changing her style again. She has a tendency to do this every few years. Age is changing her but she has a wonderful singing voice & have always enjoyed her over the past 23 years.
