hello i m french lille north or france lara fabian is incroyable voice merci beaucoup for this moment peace and love usa!!!! aurevoir bonne journee a toi
👏👏👏👏 bravo, bravo, a great analyst, of a great performer, even today 2021, Ms. Fabian still can sing like no other...🥰👍 thank you for giving her the credit she deserves.
Thank you! IMO one of the best live performances I've ever seen, like you said she's so invested and she just draws you in to that moment in time and you can't focus on anything other than her, her voice and the story. Amazing! Sorry to be greedy with requests but I hope you'll react to Morissette - Akin Ka Na Lang sometime as well!
Great reaction and analysis! I'm a trained singer and I have 4 idols when it comes to female singers: Edith Piaf, Maria Callas, Barbra Streisand and Lara Fabian. I grew up idolizing the first 3 then in 1994 I've watched a live performance in a morning talk show in Montreal by an upcoming artist singing 'Je Suis Malade' and my world was rocked to the core. I've never thought in a million years that anyone, ANYONE could reach Babs' level both in stage presence, vocal mastery and complete immersing into the song. It's been 26 years since I laid my eyes on Lara singing that song and still, every time I watch this performance I end up breathless. From that morning on I became Lara's devoted fan, but there was one more thing that I was waiting for before elevating her onto the pedestal of my 3 idols. There is one benchmark that I use to grade every singer who came after Barbra Streisand. That benchmark is Babs' two greatest songs from Yentl: 'Papa Can You Hear Me' and 'Piece of Sky'. The difficulty level of those songs is a twelve on a scale of ten in a studio environment and a fourteen when it's performed live. So, in 1998 in Montreal Lara sang BOTH songs back to back in her live concert in front of thousands of fans in honor of her parents who were sitting in the audience that night celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. That 7 and a half minutes long of absolute masterpiece was so astonishing, that in my eyes Lara not just reached, but sailed beyond her idol. I know, it's near blasphemy to make a claim like this. So, I would really love to see your expert take on that performance. Here's the link, and I hope you'll do a reaction video on it soon. Thank you in advance! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fwrR9Feb0kg.html
@Now Then Hello, (5.55 mn in video) For me this is what differentiates the Latin and Francophone European school of "realistic" singing (I've not found a word more explicit than" realistic" to define this style) and its representatives, the singers; Piaf, Brel, Aznavour, Montand, Reggiani, etc., with that of the USA and the Anglo-Saxons in general, who are more anchored in vocal performance, violins, grandiose like was; Sinatra, Darin, Crosby, Streisand, Houston, etc.). And this is the great strength of Lara Fabian thanks to her French roots. Because in this song, she coordinates the two perfectly (american and francophone style). This is why, moreover, I prefer Lara to Céline Dion. Perhaps it's because I'm European and therefore lulled by this "realistic" style since my childhood (?). But where we can really realize this difference of schools, it's by listening to the title "Pour que tu m'aime encore" by Céline when it was released on disc, and therefore recorded in France with Goldman (European latin school) in 1995 and then when she sings the same song in Las Vegas (I'm not talking about her tone of voice which has obviously changed, because she has aged, but about interpretation, the way of to interpret words, to carry them). In fact, as soon as she embarked on an American career, her vocal and stage style totally changed. She's a metronome, there's no mistake, it's powerful, clean and calm. It's ultra professional and therefore very "American show bizz", there's not a gap. Even the words that she exchanges with her musicians or her audience are prepared, repeated in advance. But for my part, I find that it's to the detriment of the real emotion, the very slight anger, the fierce energy which emerges from the original are no longer really present. It's beautiful, it's very enveloped, a lot of effects, vocalizations, games with the voice, but the soul is no longer there. The European school is simpler, more direct than the American-Anglo-Saxon school which always favors brilliance, a certain form of superficiality, let's say. Here we prefer let talk emotion. But it's also a difference that we see in the two cultures in general. Isn't it in Europe that one says "the best is the enemy of the good ..."? :) Thanks for your react. Friendly,
One of the best review of this particular performance. Lara is A Story Singer and her immersion into each second of the song is total. This is also why it s taking her a while to get back to reality once her performance is completed. Thank you.
Great analysis! As far as I'm concerned Lara Fabian is a living legend. I've been following her career since 1994. As a trained singer myself I can honestly say that Lara is in a league of her own. I grew up idolizing Barbra Streisand (so is Lara) and Edith Piaf and I thought nobody will ever come close to reach their level. Then Lara came along and my world was never the same. For me there is one particular benchmark for rating a female singer: How she performs singing Babs' famous 'Papa Can You Hear me' and 'Piece of Sky' in a live concert? Many famous singers covered it, mostly in a studio environment which can correct and hide flaws and strip off the pressure of a live audience. Some did sing them with various level of success, but I can't recall a single performance that made any great impression on me. So, naturally when it comes to Lara all bets are off! The year was 1998, Lara was giving a live concert in Montreal. Her parents were sitting in the audience, celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. To honor them, Lara pulls off a 7 and a half minutes long pure, magical performance singing Babs' songs. By the time she sings the final line to her own dad 'Papa watch me fly!' I'm a crying mess. 23 years later I still tear up when I watch it. I think that was the year when she eclipsed her idol in my eyes. I leave the link for it below, please. I invite you to judge it for yourself! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fwrR9Feb0kg.html
Wow....congratulations!!! This is the best reaction I've seen on Je suis Malade from Lara in over a year. Your knowledge and talent in singing gives her the credit she deserves...really your my top 5...oh wait....maybe my top-3!!!
You will also love her way of singing Broken vow and Adagio (both written by her) from her concert From Lara with Love. You can also appreciate Caruso, Mademoiselle Hyde, you are not from here, Perdere l'amore. ... And so many others. These could be a good beginning.
Hey Brigitte, Thank you! I've done a reaction to Adagio! I'll definitely add the other request to my list. xx ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KnGT2ckk31c.html
Thank you very much for your analysis, I would very much like you to even react again to Lara Fabian on the song "You're not from here 😉" it would be a real pleasure for me 😊
Hi... I tkink you are the first reactor that said.. "this is art".. I'm can't agree with you more... You never heard or see any other singer perform like Lara did in tis song... Just mesmorazing. Great reaction, make me subscribe your channel. Please do more of her, may I suggest the songs Broken Vow or You're not from here both of the same Lara With Love concert.. Greetings from Portugal.
Hi Paulo!! Welcome, thank you for your kind words. “Broken Vow” is definitely on my list of songs to react to. Just working through peoples requests. It’s a long list but I want to endeavor to give people what they want from this channel and make high quality reactions that are informative and inspirational. Thanks for subscribing. Warmest Regards from Yorkshire! ✨
@@nowthen.4363 you're surely in the right track to do so.. I like to see reactors take the song apart and talk about the technique, and the way the singers are invested into the song. Broken Vow was written by Lara! has a sad story behind, but it a beautiful song.. I don't want to be a a spoiler, so looking forward to see your reaction..
Nice reaction. New on your channel. I just love browsing vocal coaches and/or singers reacting to Lara's performances, because she's not from here (ah ah). All is said in other comments before mine and by you in your analysis. I just love how she's living her songs.
Amazing reaction, please react to her live version of : you’re not from here From the concert : from Lara with Love She holds the LONGEST note I have ever heard a pop singer hold.
I like your analyze. You put words to exactly what I feel about her. She is brave! It takes guts to let your soul out as she does. It takes a real spiritual being to go there. Her technical skills is just there to support the communication she deliver. Just amazing! Thanks for sharing! Excellent job!
I have seen this video so many times! I learned still more from your lively, review, full of interesting artistic and technical observations! I liked your reference to voice "colour" . Applying concepts of colour in music - hue, intensity, tone - helps analysis I think.Thank you.
Hi Frank!! Thanks so much 💙 I absolutely agree. I’m my opinion ‘singing lessons’ or vocal coaching gives us the opportunity to explore all the ‘colors’ of our voices. And everyone’s are different. We can access new areas and develop the tools to work with most efficiently. After we have developed all the tools we can use them in any which way we want to suit the style, story and character of any song we approach. Be it jazz, musical theatre, rock or pop, the tools are the same we just use them in different ways. 🎨 That’s what makes you an artist. Just because it’s not sat in a gallery, it is still provoking an emotive response from the audience. It’s instantaneous art. Sorry for my rambles. I love that people are getting passionate about voice with me. Thank you for joining. Christian x TNVC
@@nowthen.4363 Your reply was much appreciated. I am intrigued by how different voices ( or is it performances?) have a huge emotional impact on some listeners, while the same voice/performance leaves other people cold. We all have different emotional make up, but also maybe our bodies have different sound receptors, or sensitivity. In my case Lara's colour (tone/ resonance/ dynamics, whatever) penetrates deep into me, while, for example, Celine's voice sounds (to me) somewhat "glassy" and Whitney's somewhat "metallic". Both cold by comparison. They are both technically brilliant singers but Lara's tone is warmer and more comforting. On your comment about "art" and "artists", who else but a true artist could have produced "Le Secret", Lara's 2013 album? Other artists like her, I agree, are Annie Lenox, and I would add Kate Bush and Christine and the Queens. Their common points are that they are a) independent, and b) are songwriters with something unique to say. That's my ramble! I look forward to seeing more reviews from you. Cheers!
Your reactions for Lara are the best 😍 you can read through her music 🙏🏻 please react to more Lara. Caruso or You are Not from here 🙏🏻 and adding to your list is of course: TORI AMOS. What a performer🔥
I guess that you may enjoy a singer who idolizes Lara since his youth. His name is Dimash Kudaibergen, and apart from having learned dramatic singing from her, he is gifted with a stunning range, the ability to move in and out many styles at will, and an angelic beauty of his voice through all registers. A good starting point is SOS d'un Terrien En Détresse (SOS of an earthling in distress) from the Franco-Canadian rock opera Starmania from the late 1970s.
Hi Mr. Then. Happy 6 months today... Here's a song you should see. Je t'aime (Live in Paris) - Lara Fabian. She sings Je t'aime (I love you) and the group who sings with her sings: On t'aime (we love you)
Yes - A VERY skillful analysis. I'm very new to 'discovering' Lara & am just blown away by her mastery of every element of her craft. The sheer bright light beauty of her voice - her nuances and sensitivity - the way she immerses herself in the vulnerability of the emotion without a single waver that is not intentional. The layers of expression - her complete control of her vocal range - breath control - stage craft - power to engage. She's the complete package. Phenomenal. I heard this performance described as 'a professional singers Master Class'. Seems like you might agree with this? I certainly do and I'm barely an amateur singer. There are a few professional singers I admire - but can't think of anyone who surpasses her. If you haven't already - please listen to her Caruso next time. Cheers L
Please react to her “Ti Amo Cosi” she sang with Dimash and Aida. The 3 of them did an excellent job. Also please react to Lara’s song Adajio performed by Dimash. I promise you’ll be shocked and amazed. Greetings from San Francisco
You are a really lucky coach to have discovered Lara Fabian, what teacher would want more than showing vocal techniques inspired by Lara. Your students have to say thank you for having such great material like this. If you like big performances, check out Lara's VOCALISE with Dimash's great pianist, Igor Krutoy. It is a real treat for the ears. Thank you from Montreal. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MlZ9250gkjo.html
Not sure about the 'I'm reet northern me' but as a non singer I really enjoyed your knowledgeable and enthusiastic reaction to Lara Fabian. I don't know if you have reacted to Angelina Jordan, I will check on your past reactions, but if not you must as she is still only 15ish but an incredible singer, a prodigy.
Hey Matthew, I’ve only just started really. So I haven’t no. But will add her to my list. Thanks for the request. I am northern haha and proud of it. Cheers
Hi, Sid from Belgium here. Please react to this one "I guess I loved you" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4BBBBLa8Jms.html This is one of her most beautiful songs she ever wrote. I get it, Je suis malade, Adagio, Broken vow...are the most known songs of her. But EVERYONE reacts to these songs. Be different and react to some other songs.😉 Also... everyone is reacting to songs of 20 years ago. Nowadays she still got the voice! You should see her now. If you ever have the chance to see her live...you won't regret it. Big hug and kisses from Belgium 🇧🇪
Hi coatch ! Normaly the accent tonic is je suis maLAde and not je suis malaDE but i think it's more strong on the last syllabe for the expression. You think the same or not ? Merci a toi coatch
Actually I can only think of one person who has done this live and always sounds better live, Whitney. But no one else. Not with that incredible voice to boot.
and if you want to see the maestria of he queen...... here it is another different version of the same song another demonstration ......of what singing means when you're a master , version from 2003 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BI6ysCN4CY0.html
Great reaction! I wonder what you gonna say about her live performance of "Je t'aime" from 2001 in Paris ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JoZ6P6ihzCU.html !?
If you want to hear something a little different from Lara you should check out this song ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lSHhHuCc4uk.html
So it doesn’t look like you’ve reacted yet to THE greatest vocalist of ALL time, Kazakh singer Dimash Kudaibergen? Please try reacting to SOS ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W29zEuZVaxs.html at Slavic Bazaar 2018. He is currently 26 years old but in this performance of SOS he’s 23. He was greatly influenced by Lara Fabian and it was his childhood dream to sing with her, one day, which he did in 2019. Lara has written lyrics for Dimash’s songs composed especially for Dimash’s great range by Russian billionaire and music mogul Igor Krutoy. It would be great to see you react to Dimash as he is considered the greatest singer of our time by many famous vocal coaches. Thanks for your reaction to Lara! She’s a great singer, but I’m absolutely sure even Lara would agree (like Igor Krutoy does) that Dimash is the best in the world! Dimash sings many of the songs Lara sings and his performance of Lara’s song Adagio in The Singer competition, is certainly on a par with this performance from Lara, as one of the best performances of all time by any artist!
I see you just can't stand not to hear the sound of your own voice ! To talk over, then stop and start the video is not only disrespectful to the artist, but the performance as well. Play it all the way thru, then go back if you feel you must, to comment.
Hey! Thanks for the feedback. I’ve only been going a short while so still figuring out the right balance. I don’t quite understand what you think a reaction video is if it doesn’t include commentary. It is like a commentator watching a football game. It doesn’t take away from the skill or the excellence of the sport but just highlights the exceptional moments as we go. I’d suggest after you’ve seen the reaction then go and watch the original video that I always link below. I’m sure you’d enjoy just watching me stare at my computer all the way through... but sort of defeats the point. As you can tell from the video I have been more than complimentary about this fantastic performance, she is an amazing artist, and I show no disrespect. I don’t think reaction videos are for you Douglas. But I wish you well! Christian
