This video demonstrates why I respect trailer drivers so much -- it can be difficult enough to navigate a large vehicle alone (buses, box-trucks) because of the distance between the front and back wheels, imagine the difficulty in driving with something heavy trailing behind you! And with all those loading trucks that might open their doors anytime. Especially love the curve at 6:20, really taking care that the trailing bit doesn't go over the white line, but not straying to far off. Just perfectly going along the line. Impressive stuff.
Way to thread the needle. Only took one UPS letter blown off his cart. Ran the city a couple of times, but at night. I couldn't have had better escorts. The boss actually drove semi for Pepsi in the city Ran one during daylight but it was only 10' wide and you appeared to be closer to 12'. Can't quite figure out how could you ran that during daylight hours but that's your story to tell. . Had to do a 12' wide thru downtown Miami one day on US-1. They put up barrels on both sides of the street and brought my lanes down to 1 lane, and I gently rolled every barrel on both sides off to the side for a 1/2 mile without knocking any over. My escort was proud of me. Have a good day.
Driving these streets would give me such bad anxiety. 😂 Love those Jakes and stacks though. Could listen to it all day, I guess 26min & 57sec will have to do for now. 😉🤘🏻😎
11 ft wide in a 10 ft lane. Nice and the people crowding you after they get by the machine. Ahh the memories. I did oversized for 20 years and I am still in therapy
Love the sound of that tractor! It looks like a Peterbilt tractor, probably running an 18 speed Roadranger. Love the Jake Brake! And so nice going down Second Avenue in my city, NYC! Reminds me of my days as a tractor-trailer driver navigating the streets of NYC back in the day. It can be a challenge, with cabs cutting you off, pedestrians jaywalking (I'm guilty of that!) and other hazards. And that's with a standard trailer that's 102 inches wide. This heavy-hauler in the video is pulling a lowboy with an excavator whose tracks are than the trailer, so in addition to the other things he's got to look out for, he has to consider his wider width. Nice video! Thanks for posting this!
Watch again with an eye for people getting by the machine by staying wide then crowding the truck itself. This gave me stress when I did it. Make you have to stop or slow to avoid canopener action on dumb fools cars
@@I_Am_Your_Problem every good trucker knows that a 2cycle Detroit builds power at the top end and they know how to use that top end power . Go do your research and you'll find that the usa military still uses 2cycle Detroit engines in their tanks .
Absolutely, at least the streets are super wide and the NPC traffic seems very slow and aware, imagine doing this in some narrow roads in the UK, Germany or Italy 😢😮
@@stayphun6188 In a longnose, impossible. But the cabover you would certainly be driving through there has all the visibility, turning, and compact-ness you could ever need. Take your time and you'd be alright.
Regardless of the driver's natural skin tone, I'll bet their knuckles were "Brilliant White" after this journey (although I'm also guessing it's not their first rodeo through NYC traffic).
In my wildest fucking dreams bro . My dad drove a long nose Pete in jersey and Classic XL , I’ve heard the stories and you making it seem easy bro . Respect man
99% of the steering wheel holders do just that, stop glorifying this shitty profession. I am long haul flatbed 26 yrs now and it's a job, we are not superheroes. Jesus man, they import 3rd world savages to drive trucks now, it's almost a brain dead, dead end occupation
My ex girlfriend said that to me I said get ur cdl I make 2 and a half times what you do. She said but I don't want to. Glad I got rid of that bitch. My wife drives my pilot car you can see why I keep this one.
That was some EXCELLENT driving, I'd like to know how long he was. I'd employ that driver any-day. We are always moving our own Ex's and in the UK even a '325' can be fun once your off the 'Main Rd.'
BROTHER FROM SOMEONE WHO DROVE TRUCKS FOR OVER 30 YEARS.......I THINK THAT THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN..... HE KNOCKED A PACKAGE OFF THE FED EX'S MANS CART..BALLS SAID THE QUEEN IF I HAD THEM I'D BE THE KING....LOLOLOL
the single most miserable place to drive in the world. I respect these guys so much i could never, the anger from even the thought of doing this is insane
Driving a tractor trailer within the 5 boroughs of NY and/or northern & central New Jersey HAS to take years off your life. Narrow streets, poor signage, A LOT of super aggressive (and oblivious) drivers, constant road construction, 100 year old bridges and tunnels..........and people EVERYWHERE...........day and night. It must be difficult to get experienced drivers to go into those areas.
Hate to admit it but my blood pressure would be tacked out doing this. I haul ten wide steel plate in downtown Seattle occasionally and as soon as I come off the freeway into the city my adrenaline is pumping.
