Very cool! Love fairies. I bought the little birdhouses you can get at JoAnns & had my granddaughters cut & paint shingles for their house, then they painted their house. We made little platforms for the house to sit on & glued moss down. I had 3 little fairies, they picked the one they wanted & glued her on the platform. They all loved their fairy & the Fairy house they made. So much fun. XXX
I think your hand-sewn edges are fantastic ! They really add an element of whimsy and true hand-crafted goodness ! I will definitely be borrowing that technique if you don't mind. =)
Sweet lawd almighty, I love this! I mean, I love all your work, but both your fairy journals are right up my alley! Those hand stitched pages are awesome. Makes it look like a grungy old journal that's been passed down through the generations.
I love this journal! Spiderwick Chronicles is one of my favorite movies. The cover is very creative! I really like the stitched pages you did . Nicely done, Marina! Blessings, Debbie
This has got to be my favorite of your journals so far! I love it, I made a fairy journal for my little niece, but hers is a more "Fairy Belle" style. I love your earthy take on fairies. I love the hand sewing and the vinyl closure. So many great ideas! Thanks so much for sharing.
TOTALLY AWESOME JOURNAL! I luv that cover...omg...so cool! The bookmark ribbons with charms is a really nice touch and the fairy images are unique and old world authentic looking. Great job Marina! Always luv your creations! Hugs! xo
@Say Something Crafty Lovely fairy Journal. Really beautifully done. There's a lot of blank pages though so I would have embellished them a little just so They're not completely plain because You can have writing pages but still with a little interest so there aren't such long spaces with nothing to look at but other than that it is a lovely journal. Really imaginative. Lots of cool techniques.I like the torn egge pages with the sewing around them. Really cool.
Not just ok but fantastic! I've been watching your videos for some time. Everything you make is so unique. Both fairy journals are wonderful, but this one, with the hand stitched pages, the rune chart etc. makes it look like somehow you found someone's old guide to the hidden folk. So cool!
A wonderful charming journal! Your special effects,(hand stitching, seals, images)make it so special. It must be fun to be so creative. I just love this! Sharon
Beautiful journal Marina! I love fairies...love Spiderwick and I LOVE your journal. I love how you did your outer covers...giving it a leather kind of texture yet with a magical vintage flair. Gorgeous work! Thank you for sharing!!!
Very nice, so many things I haven't seen before. I love the hand stitching inside on the pages, that will make a cool touch on some of your Halloween type journals. The strap closure is also cool and different. I tear and distress but I've never burned my paper, I've burned fabric for flowers but not my paper, it's an awesome look. I like the contrast of the bright colorful spots on the botanical papers with the distressed look of the other papers. The fairies are gorgeous. Another great journal full of detail and crinkling pages, love that sound!
This is so AWESOME!!!!! Your work is also AWESOME!! Thanks for sharing your creation with us. Love the cover, love how you made it look so old world and love the sewing on the page!!! I have always loved fairies, and if I can figure out how to do one, I might just make me one as well. xoxo
Carole Ann Colca Thank you so much Carole! I truly enjoy being able to share my work with everyone. I tried my best to make it look older, but not too old. I hope you do make one! It's so rewarding once completed! If you do make one, please let me know. I would love to see it!
Another amazing journal!!! Love the hand stitching!!! Graphics are awesome, don't see that everyday so makes for a very interesting journal. Very neat closure with the vinyl straps and looks like you put your vintage patina piece to good use, looks great on the cover. So many textures and graphics to look at, I wanna open it and touch it, very inviting with the colors and textures used!!! You have see the movie, kinda teen like but cute if you like those images you use. Cute story. Good family movie, my son liked it and he's 7... I liked it too. Good family fun. TFS! Big Hugs! Hope you're well! Happy crafting!!! Andi
Andi Rozdzynski I was thinking that I really wanted to sew on some of the pages but I didn't have a sewing machine. Plus I really like how great it looks with hand stitching! You noticed the patina piece! Yes, I was excited to use one of them. I did see the movie. It's been a while so I don't remember a lot of it. I'm thinking I will go back and watch it again sometime. Thank you Andi, Big hugs to you!
I love the closure and binding hinges! I have that die and hadn't thought of using it on the journals! New subbie. I love hearing the sound of the dyed papers and seeing the images you've found. Also new fav on Etsy. Creative Blessings!
Hey Marina :) this is my favorite video of you! I've been loving fairies since I was a child and this journal looks so great. It also inspired me to make a journal for the birthday of a friend.
This is very cool. I love the sound of the pages as you turn them. ***Coffee or tea dyed and oven dryed??? I find oven drying makes pgs with that great crunchy noise. Anyhow, very nice job. Creative. You have a great imagination. I like how you added burning page edges. Sweet idea. Thanks for sharing. Austin, TX USA
I loved looking at your journal! It is gorgeous! It is fantastic, and I love the copied illustrations that you got from Arthur Spiderwick's Fairy Field Guide! My Mom has that book, and I love looking through it and reading all the notes about the creatures. I believe the PHOOKA is pronounced "POOKAH", with the H being silent. Have you seen the movie about Spiderwick's Fairies? It is very entertaining, and a little scary. I've liked this video, and subscribed to your channel. I'll check out more of your vids! Cheers! ~Janet in Canada
Hi Ms. Marina! Omg!!! I so so have to have one like this!! Am a "fairy books" collector. Can you custom make me one, similar? Love the tattered torn look. And hardware attached! I'm fairly new to all these videos on youtube! Totally addicted now! Hope to hear back from you..🤗😄
I would start with a single signature journal. I taught a class of beginners to make a single signature journal and they were very happy with how it turned out. It's a great way to start off! Then when you get comfortable you can take on making larger journals with more than one signature. Reusing books is also a great way to skip the hard journal cover process!
Hello Marina, I have just found your lovely you tube journal video, your journal is beautiful, there are so many gorgeous surprises when you flip through it to share with us. You mentioned something about finding images via Spiderwick chronicles, have youncut these from an original book or are they downloads? I would love to know which and where you found them please. I will be going back to watch more of your videos for sure. Warmest best wishes from France, Luvcreatincards
Thank you so much! I found my images on Pinterest! Some of them I just used different keywords. I didn't really download anything. It was a lot of searching, and image saving. I hope that is helpful!
Wow wow wow I absolutely love this book it's so stunning, the papers and pictures are really beautiful, where did you find them? You are so kreative and immainative.
Ebelitha Thank you, Ebelitha! The papers I used are from DCWV Once Upon a Time paper pack. The images I found were from Pinterest! I hope that helps. ^_^
ReflectionsOfAmber No, this one was a swap journal for my good friend Johanna Clough. I made two so I could feel out which one I should send. Lol The other one will be on my Etsy soon! Thank you so much Amber!
wow ur journals ate amazing, they breathtaking, omg 😱 so, i have a question, where did you get all those images from, and what stamp u used, 👍 and how u come up with such gorgeous ideas f ur journals
Amazing fairie book journal! I’m new to you and would love to know where you got that symbol paper you showed in the beginning. I would love to purchase one! Your fairies are fabulous! So authentic! Tyfs! I subbed to you!
I actually don't have a video on how I put this one together. I do have one that is made in a similar way on my channel. How to make a Junk Journal Using Your Stash. You can always tie in your signatures if you don't want to set them! I hope that was helpful!
I've been making journals officially since 2014. I decided to join RU-vid at first because I got so many requests to see videos of the journals I made. From there, I got requests to teach/show how I did things. It just grew from there.
Thank you, Lynn. I used Sizzix Bigz BIGkick/Big Shot Die By Tim Holtz Alterations, Hardware Findings. I bought mine on Amazon.com I found a Walmart Online link for you that has some great deals if you want to try there too. It's way cheaper on Walmart then it was for me on Amazon! www.walmart.com/ip/25257823?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227017804563&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40944374432&wl4=pla-78885134792&wl5=9016643&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=25257823&wl13=&veh=sem
Hi, I just love this journal, could you give me the name of the seller who you purchased the images from? I caught his first name, Arthur but missed the last name? Are they from an etsy digi kit? Ty for sharing this beautiful journal with us.. x
first of all, i love this little book! what are the dimensions? how do you attach you little "page marker" with the charms on the end? and is there a specific site you use for the images or do i just have to browse images?
Thank you, Carla! I belive this one is 6x9 with a 2 inch spine. I think I glued the page markers in before I put the signatures in. I used Pintrest for all of my images and I used different keywords to find everything. I hope this helps.
Chris Rasmussen Hello Chris, I print them out and then coffee dye them. Just make sure it isn’t the cheap ink. If it’s the brand of ink that is supposed to go with your printer then you won’t have any problems!
Chris Rasmussen Lol no, I searched for them. I looked at a lot of fairy images and I didn’t like most for what I was trying to do. Then I found Spiderwick’s feild notes! They have a ton on Pinterest. It was just what I was looking for.
