I love Planetside 2 so much. I remember getting into huge battles and spending like two hours at one point to get unpinned from a conquest point with my team lol. Amazing game, highly recommended

If u want to see chaotic battles, arm chair generals, and your kd fall below 1 then planetside is the game for you. It's hard for new players to adjust but once you embrace the madness it is so rewarding. Still playing ps2 and will always be there because ain't nobody coming close to the size of these fights

Rising Storm and Insurgency Sandstorm are some of my favorite games for quick realistic fun. Glad you included them.

Rising storm Vietnam just went free in epic games last week and imma tell you that this game is a ptsd simulator. Fun and terrifying at the same time

I own all of these games except for Starwars Battlefront 2. I highly recommend all of them, I have at least a couple hundred hours in most of these games and still happily play them all today. Planetside 2 will give you the best "Battlefield" feel in my opinion due to the way vehicles work. Squad also has some fantastic vehicle gameplay (Tanks, Technicals, Helis)!

The biggest problem however is that the 'realistic first person shooter' isn't what Battlefield games are. Battlefield is more blockbuster than realistic, so a realism shooter isn't a relevant alternative. It's a shame that no one has perfected Battlefield better than Battlefield because others tend to focus too much on the realism in spite of what makes Battlefield so addictive in the first place. There's nothing wrong with realism shooters -- I love a good round of Arma 3 -- but games like Arma 3 aren't the same genre as Battlefield and as such aren't what I would advocate as a 'better' alternative to an archady blockbuster shooter.

Its even harder to find one when you don't got a PC :(

By far my favorite large scale shooter was rising storm 2. Completely loved the TTK, the weapons, the setting, and the community

The more I look for games like Battlefield the more I realize that I just want the BF2, BF4, BF BC2 or even BF Play4Free servers to be alive/full with players again.

Planetside 2 is releasing a new update soon that adds the Goliath tank, which is meant to be a 5 man tank with four heavy MG's on each of it's four tracks with a main gun thats massive and gunned by the driver. Its meant to be the land equivalent of the Baston, which is the "Mega ship" Drewski mentioned. mind you, the Bastion is MUCH bigger and has like, twice as many guns.

Oh my god bro, Planetside 2 used to look so damn beautiful when I was younger.

As someone who usually plays the domination kind of gamemodes, what i always liked about Battlefront games is the feeling that you really have to plow trough to the next ccontrolpoint. It always feels like a non-stop war. The maps are always somewhat bottlenecked into 3 paths 'left,right, middle" but because of the big differences in verticallity and large amount of cover it gives you lots of options to flank and outplay others. The large player numbers and fairly fast respawns, keep the reinforcements coming so you need multiple small battle victories to make progress on the map. But when you manage it, it feels very rewarding and it leads to many satisfying clips.

I still prefer Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad over RO/Rising Storm: Vietnam, especially for the gunplay. But both are great.

Yes, Planetside2 is on the list, I am glad at least a few prominent RU-vidrs give that game some credit, because after years there's still nothing like it.

Squad isn't "easy" to get into in my humble opinion.

First of all, thank you for talking about Planetside 2. There's certain points you touched I would like to add to: PS2 isn't pay to win, I can't talk about how it used to be but right now you get enough currency to get about 60% of the upgrades for a certain class (out of six) and at level 15 you get an option to refund almost all you purchases so you can invest them on the class(es) you enjoyed the most. Yes, you can buy guns with real money but non-default weapons are sidegrades, they specialize in a certain area but are worse in others; the most well-rounded weapons are actually the default ones! I made a new character a couple days ago an at level 14 I have already gotten (but now completely) upgraded everything a meta Heavy Assault needs. Now, the developers of PS2 weren't bought. If I remember correctly they just separated from the company they belonged to. If anyone who is considering trying it out in the NA server, I would love to help you with you first hours, just tell me here :) Also, check Commander Cyrious and Camikaze78's channels, they are my favorite content creators for the game :D

As a Planetside vet it makes me so happy that people still play it and reccomend it. Been playing it since 2014 and still love it. As for the P2W it's very mild at the best of times. Newcomers say it is P2W because you can buy all the guns with MTX, but since all the guns are sidegrades anyway, it doesn't matter. The starter loadout is the most versatile one. There's also the implants (perks) which you can craft with in-game resources gained over time or get them in lootboxes. They are the most P2W aspect, but even that is very mild as the bonuses they give aren't really gamechanging and you need to be quite experienced to take full advantage of them.

Would love to play squad on XSX, I know the amount of commands would make games like Squad and Arma3 difficult but I also think that in that case a secondary “controller” or mini keyboard device or a wheel system could be cool to allow the port to be easy.

Ight he talked about battlefront and I just remembered back when I was younger and me and my friends would hang out and get our huge Xbox controllers and plug them in. We would play the ORIGINAL BATTLEFRONT (the one on the original Xbox) and just laugh and have fun. That made me tear up a bit. Anyways anyone reading this have a fantastic day.

Love how you added Battlefront 2 in this. I still play that game to this day but in only the Heros VS. Villians mode. the other modes are sadly dead. Hopefully a Battlefront 3 comes out and is as good as this.

Halo's Big Team Battle game mode is alot of fun, its only 8v8 but the maps make sure you are always in combat.

Insurgency is not an easy to jump into game. Maybe for a Squad vétéran it is, but the game has an incredibly well developed meta and the learning curve on competitive gamemodes is steep. The team death match mode is quite similar to the TDM from Battlefield 4 though in that they’re both fantastic fun.

I love how your putting the Bf3 soundtrack in the background, Bf3 was a amazing game and the soundtrack is AMAZING

ive played planetside 2 and my favorite moment is when me and a squad of 50 or so people had to fend of atleast 100 enemies, we ended up losing man after man but put up a good fight

Rising storm 2 Vietnam was just on sale on steam so there have been a ton of new players.

Thanks for putting planetside 2. And about that "they got bought out" part, let me clarify. The developers were being handheld by the corporate structure and the other corporate game ideas failed and planetside 2 was still going strong, so they decided to give them a different name without having to be under the corporate staff direction all the time making them try to drag updates out in favor of cash grabs. So yeah... rogue planet games is the same daybreak team just more expanded since they're finally getting support to the game since planetside arena flopped, and the other games that daybreak keeps putting out aren't as popular. So now planetside 2 is getting consistent updates again for the first time since 2011 or so, and we're getting some every month or two with LOTS of content compared to the past years of updates just being a new weapon every few months.

I love and still play Planetside 2! It’s recently been optimized even further to run a lot better and had a huge increase in players! Would definitely recommend and plus.... it’s free!

Planetside a pay to win? I never paid and everytime i play i'm on a rampage.

I think as a far stretch you should have included project reality and just explain what it is and how different it is from Squad especially since it is free and with its recent update included WW2 combat in as well.

I play all of these to make up for the days I was playing as SVER on MAG.

My way to play planetside 2 is to gear out the stealth class for as much invisibility as possible, change keybinds so lm is knife and sneak around enemy bases shanking people. Had some crazy cinematic moments sneaking through enemy convoys planting explosives and such

Best gaming experience out of 15 years playing fps was with Planetside 2.

Planetside 2 is one of the greatest games I have ever played. I have seen a 1500 person battle. No game before or since has done that. Its more pay to honk than pay to win. If you team up with a buddy, and be smart about what you use, it's super easy to get certs quickly.

Rising Storm Red Orchestra was one of the first PC games my brother let me play. Some of my fondest gaming moments come from RSRO

OWI (developers of squad) have also come out with beyond the wire on top of Post scriptum and Squad. Beyond the wire is a ww1 verson of squad and post scriptum

One big difference with hell let loose is that there is a progression system. You unlock class sets and cosmetics as you grind different classes. So if you play the game you can spot the veterancy of a player in his role off the bat. Plus a level system to see the overall veterancy.

I've been playing BF3 and BF4 for almost a decade... Games still slap. BF3 aftermath with the earthquakes and dusty old Phoenix, Rhino, XBow.. shit is so fun to play. Edit: Also Rising Storm Vietnam is INSANE for realistic insta-death

I'm a pretty big ww2 nerd and I collect old firearms from ww2 and I can say after playing post scriptum the devs were very faithful to the weaponry and gear, I have all sorts of ww2 guns but my favorite is the M1 garand and everytime I use it in post scriptum I wanna drive to my local range and pop off a few rounds. I love when games are faithful to history to the extent someone like me can geek out over something as small as a reload or uniform designs

About Squad I would definitely welcome AIs or dedicated PVE/COOP alteration of Game modes it has

so glad you covered PS2, the game has had a huge resurgence this year with three massive updates and even more on the horizon. there has never been a better time to pick it up for the first time, or dust it off and jump back in!

insurgency sandstorm doesn’t have the biggest maps in the slightest but that game masters the atmosphere, it’s gritty and every bullet hurts and hurts bad, every bullet that nearly misses you makes your heart skip a beat. it’s just such a good game for us console plebs.

I’ve been playing Project Reality for a few weeks now and it quickly became my favorite. It’s free to play, has 100 player servers, land sea air, and it’s very light weight (runs well on low end pc). If graphic isn’t a deal breaker for you, it’s definitely worth a shot.

Glad to see Insurgency on the list. The original and Sandstorm have been my go-tos for years now.

3:40 that is because there exist around 2 or 3 layers for each game mode in each map. But yeah, I agree that this game would be amazing with 140 players or 160

I really like Rising Storm 2 Vietnam. Its so raw and intense even without vehicles (except for the helicopters). And for me personally its also a good balance between too realistic/hardcore like Squad or Arma and too casual like CoD or Battlefield. There is no other game that gets me as excited as this one when rushing with teammates through the jungle while artillery fire is raining down on you and you start shooting every single bush that slightly moves in case there is someone hiding. Rising Storm 2 makes spray and pray fun and intense.

We really need a MAG 2!!! That mixes MAG with battlefield destruction and Planetside 2 players count games

I can't play Battlefield 1 and 5 because the game shows you where the enemies are, tells you when a grenade falls near, and most importantly the weapon spraying is so precise that if you miss a shot from your Gewehr type riffles, the enemy turns around and sprays you to death from 1 mile away in 1 second.

Well boys, finally upgraded my pc with a 2070 super, and just bought post scriptum, squad, and downloaded planetside 2, and i already owned Rising Storm 2. Time to blast some people.

If any of you have a console some of you might like vigor it’s very fun it’s not like a large scale battle but most of the modes are cool
