Have you ever wanted to see a REALLY BIG Gorilla? If so, get ready because we found the largest one in the Congo!
On our first Brave Mission, host Mark Vins is teaming up with the Rangers of Virunga National Park to search for some of the last remaining Mountain Gorillas in the Congo - including the largest Silverback in the region. While trekking for these gigantic primates, Mark and his elite camera team must evade poachers and rogue militias in the DRC, while learning how to protect its critically endangered wildlife from extinction. The mission to save Africa’s oldest national park will transport viewers to the front-lines of conservation and invite them to participate in the goal to rewild our planet - which is now more critical than ever.
From Executive Producer’s Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Vins, comes this thrilling mission to prove that conservation IS action!

with the climate crisis we're in, we don't have much time. Half measures won't do. We must come together and uproot capitalism worldwide, because that's the system which rewards and perpetuates the worst forms of human greed and destruction. Trying to treat the symptoms, so to speak, will only get you so far. What we need to do is address the root cause, and that's the economic system that rules the world. for anyone interested, one should look into democratic/libertarian socialism and green anarchism. Try to organize locally, develop mutual aid networks, and worker solidarity.

My favorite wild animal's, are the large male gorilla's. When I was 5 yrs old, my parent's took me to the zoo. It was the zoo in Dallas,Tx., where I grew up. I headed straight to the gorilla area.There was a particular very large male gorilla, that I had made eye contact with. I was so thrilled to see him! My parent's knew how fascinated I was, so they would let me watch him, for as long as I wanted to. I knew he recognized me each time we were there, and from that first time on, my parent's would take me to the zoo often. I came to form a real bonding relationship with him. He was so majestic!!! As soon as he saw me, he walked over, and he never walked away for as long as I was there. I looked into his eye's, and I really felt love and care for him, and I believe he could feel that. I wanted to go into the gorilla area, take him by the hand, and tell him that I was going to find a way to take him, and his family, out of the zoo. I truly wanted them to be back into the jungle, once and for all. I know to this day, he understood that I cared about them. I also knew that he and his family, were being very well taken care of, and he seemed happy where they were... I just wanted to take them back to where they belonged, and that was into the jungle. Now, that was back in the 1960's, and 1970's. The last time I saw him, was in 1979. I cherish the memories of him, and all of his family members, I always will. Everyone that truly love's animal's, can understand what I'm saying. Looking back, I thank God, that I had parent's that were sensitive to the need's of their child. 🤗 🙏💖

They also mentioned a lot of rebel groups. I wonder if these groups also do poaching as a side hustle, or that their main beef is simply with the government and it's politics. It would be nice if leaders of the main rebel groups could agree to not harm the gorillas. They may or may not have legitimate reasons to hate the government but at least it would be nice if they didn't also poach. Those 'poachers' do have a heart, for feeding their own families, in spite of the fact that often the only paid work is to kill the animals which are often "set up" in these parks to be readily available to be hunted,for profit. Most of that profit is not left in the country of the animal's origin. Consider other animals on game preserves all over Africa. The pangolin, for example. "protected" as are the rhinos. So, how do they perish on the land where they are supposed to be safe? Who is really getting away with eliminating these glorious, majestic and peacecul beings?

@nerdtasticzelda1737
@nerdtasticzelda1737 2 года назад
@@Nonpeon Get off your high horse. They have these conservation areas mostly for tourism and education: without the animals, the government receives no tourism investment and no investment from universities and research institutes. The government NEEDS these animals to fund them. In an area like this no tourism can occur. One reason why there isn't a wildlife conservation like this in England is because you have no wildlife of major conservation interest. England doesnt have a high density of animal, insect, and plant species per unit of land, and is also extremely small in comparison to other places like Africa. Having to control a major land area of a conservation is much different. England is also a 1st world country. These people do care. Are awful things happening behind the scenes? Of course; it happens everywhere. There if always greed. But that does not alter the hard work these individuals put in to protecting these creatures. Putting their lives on the line, they most certainly care. So get off your high horse. You will never have a conservation as beautiful in Englad because England is boring. 🤭
