In today's video I will demonstrate the wonderful Jordi Bosch Organ of the Església de Sant Andreu in Santanyí, Mallorca (Spain). This instrument was finished in 1762 and features a rich "Trompeteria" as well as the largest existing mixture (Ple) in the world which is composed of 25 ranks and 1.104 pipes!

An incredible organ from Spain. Its amazing that an organ from 1762 is still in such good condition. Paul, your demonstration allowed us to hear all of the unusual pipe sounds. So many reeds and trumpets with a very distinctive sound . Obviously with the simple bass buttons rather than pedals, the organ literature of this time and place was nothing like that of Germany. This is a historic instrument and this video is a permanent recording for future generations. Thank you for your important work.

And there is one more Bosch organ in Madrid, Royal Palace, but it lacks of space so much. Incredible demo, thank you. Sonus Paradisi has it in their collection but live sound is always better.

Paul: A very thorough and entertaining demo of a special organ! The foot buttons in lieu of conventional pedals was an interesting twist. Never seen that arrangement previously, but I have encountered two organs with just two stumps of lever/pedal for C and G; one of those was in a Sydney harbourside (South Head) chapel and had once been in the possession of none other than Napoleon - I played with Napoleon's organ. (Ahem. I'll get my coat …)

I find that the pedal board is unusual, compared to what we are normally used to as organists. Also, are you going to demonstrate the Niederzwehren sample set that I recommend?
@PaulFey
@PaulFey Год назад
It is, and it also limits the repertoire you can play 😀 I‘ve looked into it and planned it for the future - I wanted to show some real organs first though 😀

Vielen Dank, lieber Emil!

the mixture is 25 ranks!?!?!?! So you don't need to pull out the 8 4 2 before, so can you just go straight to the mixture?
@PaulFey

Yep, it’s absolutely crazy - at the beginning of the video I‘m playing it with the 8‘ only - I think! It sounds very very rich 😀

Wow I love the sound of this organ. I’d love to know what’s what on it that makes all these different Baroque sounds from more contemporary yet antique organs and if anything is still produced with these sounds

What a wonderful organ, Paul! And I'm not just referring to the trumpets or the great sound of the tutti, but to its beautiful soft backgrounds, flutes, etc. Is it possible that there are no couplings on the keyboards?

Are you sure the Clarins are 8'? They seem to sound an octave higher than the 8' Trompeta Reial...
