Why am I so often in tears when Gert van Hoef plays? I think it is the way he loves the work intensely, then lives it completely, and presents it as a generous gift to his listeners around the world. Even a piece as familiar as this, becomes something new and enthralling again.
The two.young people Playing this organ tell.me.that This is want the New people of to Day can bring in.to the churches To help it on it way.when the virus Has gone so good ,
This is Heavenly, to say least! You have to come to Atlantic City and play the Midmer-Losh organ in Boardwalk Hall. It’s the largest pipe organ in the world and it’s waiting for you to perform on it with your God given talent! Thanks for all you do!
You are like a virtuoso alien! I am not a musician but music speaks to me, I like to listen to the organ and your talent fascinates me, hypnotises me, transports me. I listened to Marie Claire Alain, Pierre Bardon and others, now I listen to you with immense pleasure! Thanks to you, Jan and Marjolein. I hope to see you play one day in France ...
I absolutely love this composition by Handel. I would never have thought that a instrument other then the human voice could have rendered its beauty and pathos so elegantly. Gert thanks so much. I am in awe of your interpretation.
No doubt : Gert is one of the next great, great, GREAT names of the organ. May he dare, using the HW technology, and - why not - alongside another superstar named Cameron, may them both dare to pull the organ out of his stone straitjacket, bring it out, bring it to the streets, to auditoriums, to cafe terraces, I don't know whereelse, but closer to the audience that it is by now. May them bring the organ to the audience - rather than wait until its audience pushes the doors of a church to come to him. May them play all those great organ masterpieces, and also other stuff that commonly cannot be played in a church, for morality reasons. Why not jazz, rock n roll, why not national anthems, why not movie soundtracks... Something nowadays is possible with HauptWerk, that has never, never, never been possible since near 2,300 years the organ exists. God bless my wish. And God bless you, Gert.
This recording demonstrates the love Gert has for Baroque music at this time. Such grace and tempo control. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. Each time I sit under a plane tree in the park I think of this wonderful video and the joy it gives so many. I still have a recoding of Kathleen Ferrier who sang this song in the 1940s.
The organist at the forefront of this planet, thank you!
Great playing and use of registrations for this piece!! Makes it very melodic and heavenly sounding, which is the original intent of this piece!! Really am glad to see you growing so much in your understanding of organ literature and also sacred works!! Keep it up, as the Lord is definitely gifting you more and more!! Amen!!
I bless the day I discovered this talented young man. S much expression tecnique and and delicatesse in every note. Truly he is the future standard for organists world wide. I must hear him live sometime soon.
Very well done indeed! Tempo and Registration perfect. Just the right balance between emotion and restraint. Gert you are brilliant. This is the best version I have EVER heard. Marie Allain was a bit cold, and Richter technically superb, Koopmans definitely good, but you have something different to all of them, and I cant quite put my finger on it. I think it maybe is your Faith in God.
This Xerxes/Largo Hauptwerkconcert always sounds so GOOD I repeat it many times over and over. the Pedal Base on that organ sounds the best I've heard in a LONG time.
I don't know any more beautiful melody than this one by Händel. And to hear it so wonderfully played makes this rendition to one of the best I've ever heard.
I simply cannot get enough of Gert's rendering of Handel's "Ombra mie fu"/Lardo on that pipe organ "counterfeit"/electronic Mixture Intrada organ whether 3:30 am or during lunch, it's that captivating. Never take it off the Net!
Hans! Nice to "need" one with such good taste! Wonder how it would sound on a large orchestral organ such as the Wanamaker in Philly or the one at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall; maybe the Longwood Garden Music Conservatory--biggy? Who can do the job like Gert??
Beautiful. The emotion is evident. Having the video, as well as the music makes for double enjoyment. Thanks to your camera crew. Waiting to hear you play Elgar's Nimrod.
Today I´ve been recording some Abba songs for a choir´s rehearsal and now before mixing, I had to "cool down" a bit and what could be better than this beautiful music played by my favorite organist Gert. Thanks Gert, and I wish you All the best for the future!
I have 2 sons, one is a stock broker the other a real estate broker, it would have been nice to have had another one like this kid around playing the kind of music I like. Alas he belongs to some other proud father.
You poor bastard. Could have been worse though: Life Insurance Salesman instead of a Stock Broker. And instead of a Real Estate Broker ... no maybe not.
Count me too. I search from my history and listen again. God bless Gert. (Blessings from India). Also thanks for the Hauptwerk software team for developing this wonderful software.
