carbon fiber shafts are not a good idea. if you have ever seen one break you would understand. the bits cant be picked up on xray to yer they aren't a good idea.
I'm unsure of *exactly* how you're nocking and drawing your arrows, but it sounds as if you're using your fingers to put pressure on the arrow. This is not going to help because you're going to end up pulling the arrow off. Instead, use your fingers to set a hook, pull back *on the string* without touching the arrow (more pressure should be on the string) and draw straight back.
If you use the Couere de Mithril arrows, you may benefit from a nocking point of some kind as it promotes consistency and will help keep your fingers from interfering with the shot. You can use nylon thread to tie one on or a brass one from an archery retailer.
This has been bugging me for awhile now but an archery release aid only ever touch the nock is if you don't use a D-loop, and even then the arrows don't have that thin of a nock. To be honest I've never seen a nock that thin anywhere
I'm considering buying a dozen Coeur de Mithril arrowheads and wanted to ask if you've seen a change in their quality since posting this review. Also, if you have recommended techniques for installing these onto a shaft, and what shaft size you find fits best. I am an avid target archer and want to use these with a 35lb bow for archery tag.
Joseph Mascaro Since this they have only gotten better. They offer more colors and the casting of the heads is more consistent. I use standard carbon arrow shafts for mine. I can remember the dimensions, but the brands are Gold Tip and Carbon Express. I add a little bit of tape to the end of the shaft to get a tighter fit. I use Gorrila Glue to attach them. This is a very permanent fixture because the glue expands into the shaft itself.
Robert Cornelius I don't advise this. The arrows already have plenty of weight in them and have quite the thump. Cutting into the foam would also weaken the integrity of the arrow head.
