Most plp. think this song is about a man and human love. But the story behind the song is that Mr. Graham had started studying the Bible, and soon after became a dedicated Jehovah's witness .He told of his experiences at a convention some years ago, and I was blessed to be there. No wonder it is such a soul stirring song ....
this last generation is void of passion and also commit themselves to an art their form of it is using generated, beats and loops, putting them together for background music and then talking over top of it, and mostly is about garbage that they think is interesting. l when most times it’s nasty perverted, violent shit that really doesn’t have a place in music so there’s nothing put into it as far as artistic value in order to appreciate anything creative or artistic you have to have passion so the music fits the times like music always has 60s. It was about peace and love 70s and 80s. It was about access and partying in the 90s love it was about being depressed and violent. Now we moved into basically just mindless street trash. I found it fascinating to learn how to play instruments and I found it more than just relaxation to create it with other people. It was the thing that kept me sane In a in sane life and world I always admired the guy. He’s before my time a little bit. I was a little kid when he was making music in the 70s loving the base brought me to hear. I know the song I just didn’t realize it was him. I’m not surprised because he was incredibly talented. He invented the slap and plucking on the bass which i utilized often In fact, I learned it from instruction video my brother had of him. his vocals are just like his bass warm rich great vibrato
Larry Graham is very well known, the greatest bassist of all times, multitalented musician...he put Sly & The Family Stone on the MAP & the Founder of Graham Central Station! Do your homework before making this kind of statement, he's multiplatium!
My memory of this song forever will be dancing with my wife at our wedding and looking over seeing my parents dancing and smiling at each other in pure joy. It's one of those moments that I hope never fades. One of the happiest moments of my life.
Love this song. It was our 1980 Wedding Reception song. It has beautiful lyrics that we both felt and still do. Thank you Larry Graham your vocals are beautifully expressed. ❤

When you're singing about your Grand Creator your God Jehovah, who's One in A million, means He has been given a chance of a Life Time to have a Relationship with your Heavenly Father God Almighty ....someone introduced Brother Larry Graham to Jehovah ❤️

Love had played its game on me so long. I started to believe I'd never find anyone. Doubt had tried to convince me to give in, Said you can't win. But one day the sun it came a shinin' through. The rain had stopped, and the skies were blue. And oh, what a revelation to see. Someone was saying "I love you " to me. A one in a million, chance of a lifetime. And life showed compassion. And sent to me a stroke of love called you. A one in a million you. I was a lonely man with empty arms to fill. Then I found a piece of happiness to call my own. And life is worth living again. For to love you to me is to live. A one in a million, chance of a lifetime. And life showed compassion. And sent to me a stroke of love called you. A one in a million you. A one in a million, chance of a lifetime. And life showed compassion. And sent to me a stroke of love called you. A one in a million you.
It's like it's my grandfather telling us his story. I walked all the way to his house to tell him about Jesus. I can't explain why I did that. But all glory to God.
What a beautiful voice. Used to think this song was a love song between a man and a woman. Now, I think he speaks of his relationship with Jehovah. When you've been found by Jehovah it's a love like none other. "One in a million" for sure!
JAMA Jehovah is God's personal name. You can find it in your King James Bible at Psalm 83:18. Larry is one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I believe is an elder in his congregation. Wonderful brother!
Dude became a Jehovah witness jus like Prince hell Prince converted to become a Jehovah witness cause of Larry Graham so thats yalll dnt hear from him anymore
My mother absoultely loves this song and used to play it repeatedly. Larry Graham is a living legend and I just learned that as a bassist he popularized the "plucking" style!
Larry Graham was a man of his own music and no one could sing or Express their feelings into a song like Mr Graham, One in a million is my wife of 35 years and me, this is our national anthem, 🥰 I play Larry Graham everyday for years to me he is a true king of music 🥰 it's an honor to hear him sing

A beautiful song from an era when songs were beautiful. A live band came to sing this for me and my wife at dinner during one of my early trips to the Philippines. This song will always have meaning for me and described how I felt having my beautiful Filipina there at my side.
We made this our Wedding Song in 1981. Well, mostly me, because she couldn't decide on anything. I have been to 2 of Larry's shows in the past few years, at B.B. King in Times Square, NYC.
Amazing! The first time I heard this song was on the radio in the Philippines while I was riding in an Uber vehicle with my girlfriend in early March 2016. I, too, had my beautiful (maganda) Filipina by my side, who will one day be my wife.
Larry Graham, one of the finest bassist ever. Broke ground in Sly and the Family Stone, afterwards embarked on a successful solo career. He's the uncle of Aubrey Drake Graham, otherwise known as the rapper Drake.

You know what's more awesome than a man who can hit high notes? A man who can drop that low and make it sound deep as fuck. Beautiful song. That first low note at the beginning is the highlight of this song.
Lawd, this song has been playin' in my head all day. I just had to come and check on it. I just love Mr. Graham's musical versatility. This song is so pretty and I love his voice. Dag, I wish brothas were still able to deliver a ballad like this again. Quiet Storm classic.
Along with "Just Be My Lady", this has to be the greatest wedding song ever. When ever my wife use to get mad at me and started packing her bags, I would play this song first, and then I would play "Just Because" by Johnnie Taylor. That was many years ago,(1996) and it worked. The first two years of marriage is very tough, It isn't easy learning to live with someone. A lot of people give up too soon, before a person can grow and change. We are very happy with three children, and it's been seventeen years now.

I did not realize after all these years that Damon Waymans looks just like Larry Graham, all he has to do is ad a wig. This is one of then songs you never forget.
you I look at it again and I still think it's Damon doing one of his comedy acts. The way he does his lips like in Major Payne when he laughs or when he done the Hobo in the OJ trial.
this song was sung to me by my late husband philip when he asked me to marry him how could I say no we were dancing we were married for 35 years when he fell asleep in death in 2016 he was my one in a million to this day in 2018 I love you with all my heart my beloved philip
