This is Linda Wellens (Pugh) with her partner Gary Beathard. This was one of our first Larry Kane shows in color.

I am extremely happy to find this, thank you! My Dad worked on the show when it moved to KPRC ch2 as the audio engineer I often went with him

I suppose I had a bit part in the shows cancellation. In the early 70's one of the Hot Spots in Houston was the Scene West. One of Larry's directors hung out there and got this great idea to use some of the Scene West regulars to dance rather than their regulars. So he invited about 20 of us a couple of Saturday mornings in a row. The show aired in the early afternoon but I recall taping was late Saturday mornings. At any rate our bright idea was to stay up and say loaded all Friday night after Scene West closed and then head straight over to the taping. I don't think his TV channel hosts appreciated the loaded folks that were dancing those two saturdays. He was canceled soon after those two shows. But he had a long and successful career as a lawyer so I never felt too bad about the events.

I seem to remember that they had some of the summer shows out at the Channel 13 swimming pool.

I knew Larry. Actually his real name is Harry Lieberman and later in life he was an entertainment attorney. I met him back in the mid 90's and he did some legal work for us at our studio. He was a great guy! Sadly he died a few years later of a heart attack.

I just learned a 1st cousin 1 x removed was a camera man and director of the show sometime in the 60's. I don't know the dates he was there but if anyone has any information his name was Tony Tamburrano. I remember this show so well and watching it on a black and white TV. I wish I had known back then I would have asked him to get me on the show.

That show had a great crew. There "videos" of popular bands looked much better then any nationally aired shows at the time. I have a much longer unaired interview with Larry about the show, but I doubt I will ever put it up.

Is this the same Larry Kane that anchored Eyewitness News at WABC New York?

djrage70 No, that's a different Larry Kane. This one was completely based in Houston, but his show was syndicated for a while.
