Lane Rockford Orsak....my DAD was your Mom's biggest fan...all through the '50's and '60's my Dad would take us to every public appearance, regardless if she was opening another Weingarten's or a box of saltines!!! Looking at her at 70, now, I can see why my Dad thought we needed to be there....ha! She was a doll!!! Hope she is well.
Miss Scotty Trip from KILT. Our bus driver let us have a radio and loud speakers on our school bus and we would blast KILT rock music to school and back from Oak Ridge North to Conroe. SOme boy got the idea and we took up money for it. We old sing along all the way to school and back to Janis Joplin, Cowcills, Crosby .stills Mash and .young, whoever. Plus I remember Kitirik when I was a tot at Morgan’s Point LaPorte before the Hurricanes flattened it. It was such a fun place to live. Gas was 10 cents a gallon and we didn’t have a lot of money but we could ride the coastline all day and go aight seeing as we called it and swim at Galveston .stewart beach. Larry Kane show was the bomb, too. He was Houston version of American Band Stand and had national bands live. Many mothers did not work and they were home to entertain all the neighborhood kids. We only had one car but there was always someone who kept the hubby’s car for the day and took us shopping at a mall or whatever. Life was so wonderful and carefree then. Even if you were poor, you weren’t actually poor. Economy was fantastic. I remember NASA beginning to be built. Crime was almost non existent. Kids got left in cars all the time with windows down at the grocery store.No one died or got kidnapped. .we didn’t have air conditioning. Nobody cared. It was a treat to be in at conditioning when we went out to eat. The restaurants would paint the words on their windows “Refrigerated Air”. Lol! We rode those merry go rounds in the park and had 10’ slides and nobody got killed. Lol! Our parents watched us and taught us to be safe, There was less population and less crazies running around. We didn’t worry much about things.
2011, she is still alive and well (and still can fit in her cat suit!), but today she entertains her great grand kids, Chase, Lindsey, Chris, and DJ. Her charm with the little ones is eternal. Thanks for remembering Houston.

Kitirik helped me through a rough time, I had major surgery at Texas Childrens in the early 60s and for a long time after I had to stay at my grandmothers apt. in Houston. I remember watching Kitirik and enjoying it very much. Every time we visited my grandmother we always watched Kitirik I remember her on the swing.
I was one of the lucky ones who got to go on my birthday once I don't remember which one I wrote but I was on one I have never forgotten this show as of Dawn Mahoney and Jeana Claire Bozo the Clown Houston wrestling and every Saturday morning cartoons we didn't know how good we had it
Although I was born in a specific part of Indiana that is close to Chicago and the local kiddie shows there (Chicago, that is) included Bozo and Ray Rayner, I think it's interesting that this show in Houston had a special merry-go-round type ride for kids having birthdays each day. I wish Bozo or even Blinky the clown had that feature on their shows. By the way, as a kid, I took some summer vacations to Wyoming and some towns there picked up a few Denver channels. Blinky had a TV show there and that's why I know him. Also, it's quite weird that the host of this Houston kiddie show is named Bunny in real life and yet she's dressed as a kitty cat here.
I have two Kitirik stories. One was when she asked the little boy what bread he liked. He was supposed to say Rainbow but he said Mrs. Bairds. Kitirik said "I knew that was going to happen sometime". The other story is that I was on the bleachers when my sister was a birthday girl. I fell off the bleachers and screamed! Our neighbors watching the show heard me screaming. Kitirik was a really important part of our childhoods in Houston.
Don't forget BUY YOUR CHEVROLET FROM PERSIA---MIKE PERSIA CHEVROLET! I used to watch WEIRD every Saturday night at 10:30 and fell asleep and was tooooo afraid to turn off the television! Needless to say, I got in trouble first thing Sunday morning when my mom found the t.v. on and no picture---just snow and noise!! LOL. Do you remember KILT610 in Houston! AND Elsie the Cow neon sign in Houston!!!

peggypie04 Yes, used to listen AND watch Mike Persia Chevy commercials. But my VERY FAVORITE tv. commercials to watch were Art Grindle used car commercials. This would have been in the early to mid-60s. He would yell, "I want to sell you a car!!!!", while slapping the hood of a particular used car, and sometimes parts would fall off of the car.😂 I lived in Cypress then. 👋

Hello, Kitirik was the best. I remember nod. The young sidekick's name slips my memory. I feel like it was Gary. My Cub Scout Pack was honored to visit her at the studio. It was interesting to see how the program was produced compared to watching on television. She would visit with us in the bleachers during production breaks. With Kitirik what you see is what you get. She is a sweetheart. Sorry that I had to join the workforce and miss her final seasons. Kitirik is a fun person. I was a small child watching her on a black and white TV. I didn't know she couldn't hear me, so I talked to her through the TV speakers. Great memories.
Michael Burke I too lived & grew up on FM 1960 close to Hempstead Hwy (290) in Cypress. FM 1960 was called Jackrabbit Rd then. This was in the early 60s.👋
@@t4texastomjohnnycat978 l grew up north of FM 1960(Jackrabbit Rd.) near Kuykendahl&Spring-Cypress Rd. When we moved out there in 1970, the Champions area was the only neighborhood. Imagine 1960 being a two lane asphalt road from US290 to Dayton.
Cadet Don & Seymour in the mornings, Kiterik & Skipper & Nod in the afternoons, just great TV for us kids. And to this day Kiterik (Bunny) is still a Rock Star to us!

The little spaceship Seymour was in on the Cadet Don show was also used on the late Saturday night sci fi/horror movie show called "Weird".On 13 they used a fire extinguisher and it had lights around it and they used camera effects like fading and focus--good old days
One little girl was giggling as the carousel rolled up to kitirik and she asked the little girl who was 5-6 years old whats so funny? She said "LeRoy just farted" on live TV......im guessing this was 67 or 68.....i was 10 or 11 back then ..... The other show was Mary Janes Magic castle on 39? at 3:30 pm i think.....im to old and cant remember that much about her show.....
I thought KILT was STILL a rock station. They played "Born Free" at 10:00 every night back in the late 60's and I tuned in every night so I could barely hear it all the way in Austin!
the first Kitirik had a breathy heavy Bea Arthur voice. After about 4 years she was temporarily replaced by a lady with a high, Southern voice like Ellie May Clampett.
Both my brother and I were on Kitirik.She asked me what was the name of my dog was and I answered Checkers.Not sure why I said that 'nervous I guess cause Checkers had died years before that .Great memories !!!
