Lars Andersen has trained new Robin Hood star 

When naive people become cynical, they think they know everything because they've become cynical.

If a 'trick' shot can pierce wood, it can pierce skin. Whether it could be used in battle depends on the archer's skill and the situation or what his opponent is wearing.

First off, Robin Hood is probably the most well known trick shooter in history. Second, please show some sources for your claims that trick archery was used for training and on the battlefield. Third, I highly doubt archers would bring a trick bow to a battle since they wouldn't be able to penetrate armour, and using a warbow to do trick shots will not result in the same accuracy Lars shows in his videos. I strongly suspect that falls under the physically impossible category. Finally trick shooting and war shooting are not mutually exclusive, so I don't argue that trick shooters wouldn't be effective archers on the battlefield, but I doubt you would resort to trick shooting with a heavy-weight warbow when your life depends on it. You'd probably just take the safe shots rather than the impossible shots.

In many cultures, archery heroes are described as performing different forms of "trick" in war, indian, arabic, japanese, Vikings etc.. there are actually really a lot of such, that's what makes them heroes !!!

Love seeing that Hollywood has reached out to utilize your style. And I love that the film showcases not only the archery but also mentions various historical facts about archery in an engaging way. Personally, I tend to be a purist about historical films, arguing that a historical film should not be at all allowed to knowingly get anything wrong, but considering that "Robin Hood" is a legend in the first place and not a real historical event I would agree it gets some flexibility, and since Robin Hood is the name most associated with historical archery in the western world, using the name to showcase historical archery from multiple cultures of and around his period is brilliant. It's still so strange to see so many comments questioning the historicity of Lars' techniques... I thought it had long been addressed, but dispelling misinformation is a hard thing . So to try and clarify: -Lars' arrows in the shooting hand technique is described in instructional "how to" detail in Arab Archery 1500 in section XLV on pages 150-153 in the standard print, this is further verified by in period art. -the specific rate of fire referenced is found in the book Saracen Archery 1368, this rate of fire is described as expected using a full war bow, not a trick bow. -while Lars does most of his shooting with weaker bows he found this form in his 40s and is a fellow with a slight build, historically all of these techniques are usually performed with bows ranging between 80 to 165 pounds as specifically mentioned in Arab Archery 1500, this is further verified by artifact bows we physically have from these areas and periods in museums. -It is as ridiculous to expect actors to be using 80 to 165 pound bows in filming a movie as it is to expect all the swords and weapon props to be made of sharp steel. That is both highly impractical and dangerous - Arab Archery 1500 in section XXXII (pg. 90) also specifically mentions that archers should have a "bow for trick shooting" which should be quote: "very flexible in weight, not more than half the capacity of the archer." So yeah, they did specifically practice trick shooting with light bows to make them better life and death archers overall and practicing such trick shooting is specifically described by the period translated source book.

Open Google Maps and have a look at the geographical location. If you cross the red sea, you're in Africa. Egypt is in Africa. The movie is correct about having black people there.

There would have been black people all over the place since the Egyptians traveled the world centuries before the days the Robin Hood story is set. We're just brainwashed by the 'education' system into thinking that certain countries were all white or all black and never traveled anywhere outside their borders. Borders are a relatively new construct too - just another method of control.

Agreed.. I remember Lars used to be shunned by lots of 'pro' archers. I'm no expert but there's no way you can fake a recorded archery. Lars is just focused on his training thay he doesn't care about advertising his videos.

@@Immortallised Don't quote me on this but I think the concern wasn't that it's not real, rather that its not actually as historically accurate as he claims, since in order to shoot that fast you can't draw the bow all the way, which just reduces the damage, so nobody would do that if they weren't in a really tight spot. But I'm a noob archer and just watched some criticism on him by channels i follow no idea if I'm in the right here

It's impressive, yes, but it's not a viable combat strategy, as it requires a weak bow, or a bow at a less than full draw. He's not bring criticized for his skill, he's being criticized for his claims and misinformation.

(seeing as you call any shot where you are not standing still a trick shot). And it's not only about jumping up and down, it's also about aiming and releasing at a very quick pace. However, you can't always control how your enemies attack, especially if they have close combat weapons, so being able to move while shooting can be a crucial skillset in reallife battles. I’d actually be more interested in Robin Hood vs Oliver Queen. (Arrow), who is at least as fit as he is portrayed in the series.

Imagine how people were 5,000 years ago without God’s True Book. How would they have known how they were supposed to live? How would they have known how they were supposed to be in order to please their Creator? So God gave the law of Moses back then. This law was for the people to know how to be. So God has expectations once He tells His creation how He wants things. His love and grace gives His creation time to change. He is willing to help them change if they ask Him. Then His creation, while repenting or changing to do His will, see His Beauty. This is a relationship formed now with the Creator. If He is the Most Beautiful Being, which He is, how can His creation not want to obey Him? How can His creation not want to please Him? The reason why is because of foolishness. Man loves his own foolishness rather than God’s wisdom, Jn 3:19. Man loves his sin. If anyone loves himself, he will stay in sin. So man who stays in sin rejects his perfect Creator or Father, and exchanges it for his own foolishness. So now fast forward to today where we have God’s True Book. We officially know what God wants. God gave His creation a big help, the Word, to show us how He wants us to live. If we follow His perfect teachings, we all live with perfect peace, love, joy and unity. This is His perfect design for His children's lives. When we go against His perfect design for what we want, sin, we throw away that perfect plan. We throw away that perfect peace, love, joy and unity. Giving up these things is foolish. So sinning against God proves to be the worst plan for us! God wanted to help mankind. God wanted to save man from his foolishness. He wanted to help us the best way possible because He is Good. The best and only way to do it, as God saw fit, was to give mankind His Son. Why? The Son is the Word, Jn 1:1. The Word always obeys the Father's will. The Father's will is spoken through His Word. The Word proceeds forth from the Father's will and mind. So now instead of the law of Moses showing us the way to live rightly in God's eyes, we have the Son. This is the New Covenant. In Jesus and His blood, we now obey Him instead of the Mosaic law as part of this new agreement between man and God. So as man wants to live rightly to please His Creator, man now must turn to the Word of the Creator. So obeying the perfect teachings of Jesus brings us to how God wants us to live. The Son conquered the grave. The grave is the end of all who sin. The grave is the payment for sin. Satan founded the grave. How? Because Satan started death by being the first to sin against Almighty God. Jesus destroyed Satan's creation and fulfills the very first prophecy spoken of the Savior in Genesis 3:15. That's why Jesus came to "...destroy the works of the devil," 1 Jn 3:8. Satan came to ruin God's Creation with sin. Jesus came to ruin Satan's creation, death, with perfect obedience, which His blood shed proves. That's why in His blood, there is life. So the Gospel is God's reconciliation with man. How? @@braveheartthecommentor5805 Well I don't know a whole lot about bows, but from what i've heard dry firing a bow (even at half draw) can cause some huge internal stress to the point where it can cause permanent damage to the bow. This is because the energy from the string doesn't get transfered to the arrow as normal, but instead goes into the bow.

@@jameswest9388 Robin Hood shoots (mainly) targets that aren't moving around. I would call him GOAT in olympic archery, with practice on battlefield, but feel free to correct me on that, since I don't know everything about Robin Hood. I just remember some stories where he shoots sticks and quadratical pieces of wood, an inch long, to scare of a bounty hunter, and that time when he competed in the official turnament and dyed his hair to disguise his identity.

There is LESS power in the arrows to be sure. But even a kids 17lbs practice bow can kill if you have the right arrowheads, and place your shots right. My broadheads are sharp enough to shave with- you telling me you need more than 17lbs driving your razor?

But dry shooting is documented as one of training methods for mameluk archers in 14th century. It doesn't hurt the bow if it is light and used only for training, which this one probably is. You would not want to shoot 90lbs longbow like that, but they are not doing it.
