Grew up a rejected misfit in my home. Being the black sheep of my family. This song will always hold a special place in my heart. If I'm having a bad day i crank this tune up and my day will get better.

My teenage best friend passed away around 9 years ago. We were great friends, told each other everything, and still I miss him like crazy. I found an old box today that had an old CD case in it and I found a CD he made for me around 15 years ago called “Lars and the bastards”. I never listened to it and got rid of any CD player I ever had many years ago so I took to YT to search this band. I have tears in my eyes, this reminds me of stuff we’d listen to as teenagers when we’d go to shows, rip up all our clothes, dye our hair just to piss off our parents. Times were so good back then, feels like yesterday

My 2.5 year old son is Lars Frederiksen And The Bastards' biggest fan. I put on this video and he lost his mind! He jumped on the couch through the entire song. When the video ended, he asked me, "MORE!"

Bought this album in 2001 in NYC at Tower records. Will never forget the train ride back to south carolina listening to this on my Sony discman.

My God, Lars sure has a wonderful voice. Perhaps not the best grammar, but a wonderful voice. Perfectly punk rock.

I've been listening to this album A LOT lately and it just doesn't get old. From skateboarding in front of my house to "Dead American" in 2001 to blasting this in my car in these modern times of isolation, it's a certified classic.

I liked this. However, the original lyrics "All they taught you at school, was how to be a good worker, the system has failed you, don't fail yourself" are much better than the replacement lyrics about dropping out and getting a guitar.

Just for the record... this is a Billy Bragg song. Lars didn`t write it. A lot of you seem to think he did. And me saying this doesn`t mean his version isn`t brilliant. Because it is.

Late 90's early 2000's punk is some of the best stuff there is. I'm glad that I got to grow up and come of age in a time when the music and scene was so cool. Not that there's not plenty of good music out there today (or from way back when), but it was just a special time...

Second my knowledge of punk music is limited but I have to say I really dig this one. Its classy, humble and bad ass all in one big mixture of Awesomesauce :) Stay thirsty my friends.

ahhh yes!! the golden age of hellcat records, when the biggest punk bands would all play together in the dirty streets of Hollywood, no band was too famous or too unknown, everything was just perfect from 2000 to 2003. hell even rancid and NOFX did shows together for a short time, that's something we're probably never gonna see again.
