We go to Vegas every year or two…because we have the ability to rent a beautiful suite at the Bellagio - where all my honey likes to do is sit in the room, read a book, have a drink and watch the fountains. It’s his time of peace in a crazy world…and I love that he enjoys it so much! My fun comes from wandering the town and enjoying everything! 50 years together..our system still works!!💕

SW was the best ever for Vegas. He brought "class" to the city. The fountains is "class". Old yes, but still classy. The guys in black shirts once owned the city, but now corporations. For them only the bottomline. Hope they keep the fountains and thank you SW.

The Bellagio Fountains is the most iconic part of Las Vegas, dare I say more than the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. Yes, change is constant in Las Vegas but this is the best free attraction Las Vegas cannot let go.

Over 20 years ago, those fountains were my favorite part of Vegas, and they still are! Every time, I have to see the fountains, stroll the Bellagio conservatory, and have a meal on the property. I have been known to even play the occasional slot machine (a rare thing for me) as a way of thanking the Bellagio for having such a wonderful destination property.

There’s a fine line between Las Vegas reinventing itself and Las Vegas killing itself. I feel it has now crossed that fine line. I used to live there. I used to visit several times a year, going all the way back to the early 90’s. I don’t go there anymore and to me, that not only speaks volumes, it also saddens me beyond words as, for the greater part of my life, Las Vegas was my favorite place in the world.

Vegas continues to shoot itself in the foot. Between absurdly high resort fees,new hotels trying to capture the high end crowd, totally forgetting about the middle income tourist(looking at you FB and RW) and more boring shopping malls being built on the strip every year I’m just wondering if it’s worth coming back anymore.

So sad if Bellagio Fountains is replaced by MORE retail (I find shopping very boring) and restaurants. Imo the Strip is looking more and more like a huge shopping mall. No more lions at MGM, no more pirate show, no more volcano, no more art museum at Venetian or Wynn, no more cute bird shows at Trop. I won't be returning to Vegas. --Thank you Steven for this excellent presentation!

The fountains are staying! The shopping development - 3 stories of retail, etc. - will be built down the strip between the Cosmo and the Bellagio parking garage according to the plans I’ve seen. It looks like it will eliminate most of the strip views for the condos at The Jockey Club which is surrounded by the Cosmo.
@fbuckler7331
@fbuckler7331 12 дней назад
I agree. Even though MGM is greed city, no way the smart people in the company ever get rid of them. Its the number one draw for foot traffic, intangible profit for the company. They doubled down grabbing the cosmo, more views of the fountains, number one draw for the balcony rooms. I predict they tear down the Bellagio to build a newer luxury casino before they would ever get rid of the fountains, but they don't have the capital to pull that off any time soon.

Water is not the concern with the Bellagio Fountains. Not only is the lake and the fountains on a closed loop system, the property sits on and OWNS a large aquifer the water from which is used to maintain the lake level and is owned by the property owners and not part of any public water entitlements. Speaking of water entitlements, Nevada is still not using its whole Colorado river entitlement because we have aggressive water saving policies.

Closing the Fountains would be a big mistake. The Fountains give class and humanity to the Strip. It has lasted the test of time and is now an iconic sight. Hold on to this rich tradition established for the Center Strip.

That will be VERY dangerous for the strip. Taking all the attractions away (TI Pirate show, Mirage Volcano, Bellagio Fountains). Vegas is walking a very thin line here akin to a city letting its major shopping mall die, it will have a ripple effect!

MGM is CEEAP as heck, but I don't see them getting rid of the fountains. They do that and people aren't going to pay the astronomical rates of the restaurants and elevated rates for hotel rooms with fountain views. It would bring in less $ and they don't want that. Also - if you think on it people with rooms at Ballsy/Paris, Cosmo (also an MGM property which charges more for views), Planet Hollywood, etc. pay a premium for fountain views prompting them to visit Bellagio and spend $ in the casino and food and beverage and want to stay their next time.

I had always heard that the water supply to the fountains is from wells under the Bellagio property, the same wells that irrigated the Dunes golf course and it's always recycled. None of the water for the fountains comes from Lake Mead. Is that correct?

The Bellagio isn't in the category of a Riviera, mirage or Tropicana, which were trends and cheap copies. It's the Renaissance - an authentic piece of 15th and 16th century Europe....and that doesn't go out of "style". Those fountains will stay, or Vegas loses it's momentum and potential. The entire property is an Italian experience without the airfare cost.

I've been saying it for years, that one of these days, they will want to monetize these money losing acres out front and put something that makes money on that land. Sooner or later. F-1 may have started the ball rolling. The white tiger display at the Mirage, off the side hallway going out to Caesar's Forum Shops replaced by a burger place. TI's and its pirate show, turned into a Mexican food place and a CVS. The volcano at the Mirage currently making way for a tacky guitar shaped hotel tower sitting on top of a podium containing more gambling, boozing and food right out to the Strip and eliminating the expensive nightly eruption. I can't imagine how much money the Bellagio pays for maintenance on their lake and fountain shows but it no doubt is a fortune. They pump the water from the ground, owning the water rights for the former Dunes Resort golf course. They are currently about to start building more shops, restaurants and booze bars on the south edge of their property. They will chip away a bit at a time until the fountains are no more. It won't affect my life.

Vegas would be NOTHING without the fountains ! They killing the city little by little getting rid off the most of iconic attractions we have here for years ! One thing is innovating and the other thing is leaving this city like a ghost town ! It’s a nonsense idea to eliminate the fountains and build retails stores or expanding casino or whatever ! We have a lot of stores in Vegas we don’t need more retails in here ! Just Leave Vegas as always been !!!!!!!

Good evening Edinburgh , Scotland here. Many great features of US cities have replicated around the world The fountains at the Burj Kalifa , Dubai , blow the Bellagio out of the water. Both are spectacular, however the Dubai fountains take the concept to a new level Look them up
@kennixox262

Been there, seen it and done it and agree that Dubai, the fountains there are much larger. Most people here could never find Dubai on a map with a cartographer pointing it out to them. The most spectacular show I was in Dubai was a high-rise condo lit up like a Roman candle when the place went up in flames. Flammable cladding like the Grenfel tower in London.

I stay at the Bellagio all the time and love the fountains. The water is really not that big an issue, it is mostly recycled while it is drained fro cleaning it is recycled back in. They keep building huge projects like the Sphere so the little water the fountains use is not a reason to close it. I would maintenance and costs to run it would be more the reason most likely.

Not only have I grown up in vegas, I drive uber on the strip and years ago you'd always see a crowd all day/night in front of bellagio to see the fountains, so much so you'd be elbow to elbow with the person next to you to squeeze in and see the show. The last 3 yrs now I hardly see anyone out there, the whole front sidewalk along the blvd is essentially empty almost everyday. The fountains are beautiful but definitely outdated. They need a major update (maybe new laser light show or drone show)
