The first three minutes is highly developed. Then you cross Horse Dr. (looks like it's Skye Canyon Dr.) and BAM! ....desert. If you stood 10 feet north of that road and looked southeast at all those buildings, you would never guess there was 400 miles of desolation behind you.....
I love that idea too, unfortunately Nevada doesn’t have the money to pay for the road expansion. If you’ve ever been to Vegas (off the strip) you would know we have some of the worst roads EVER!

Thank you for this video. I've been looking for a place to go for just me to get away. This is it. I've been to both Vegas and Reno but I've never taken the road in between. I love the remoteness of it. Can anyone recommend a good half way point to stop with cheap hotels and nightlife with a great view of the night sky? I am hoping to see the band of the milky way at night. Out here in Connecticut that is difficult to see.
I’ve been on interstate 15 before to hurricane Utah and Interstate 15 is a four lane freeway north of speedway Blvd in Las Vegas but I would still prefer I-15 over highway 95 since Us highway 95 is a single lane road for 315 miles between Fallon and Crystal Nevada. Has anyone driven on Us highway 95 north of mercury highway because that’s where this road changes from a four lane freeway to a single lane road.
Same here. I think I would prefer to drive to Barstow and then take 395 up to Reno. Google maps says it's about 2 hours longer, but is probably safer, more scenic and more relaxing.
@@805NAVE Until you have a horrible deadly head on accident at 90mph because someone didnt properly judge speed when passing. Ending the lives of two families.
They decided to have I-11 from Las Vegas to either go to Fallon on US-95 and to I-80 in Northern Nevada, or to Fernley on US-95, and Alternate US-95 and then to I-80 in Fernley Nevada, or to Carson City/Reno Nevada, via US-95 to Hawthorne to Walker River area, part of NV-208, and then to US-395 and I-580 from Carson City to Reno Nevada where it ends at I-80. I-11 will merge with I-80 to Winnemucca Nevada and continue on US-95 in Northern Nevada, Southeastern Oregon, and Western Idaho, along the Snake River where it end at I-84, about 50 miles west of Boise Idaho.
I bet it will be 30 years until that happens there just is not enough people to support such an investment. From Idaho you can take the 15 or enjoy the awesome drive on 95 especially in winter it's basically empty of anything but trucks at least from WA/OR, Jordan Valley and in to most of Nevada. Such a freaking awesome drive!!!!
im in Nevada, never seen northern Nevada, but wow that's a lot of desert... as a kid when i saw Reno on the signs on I95 i was thinking reno was nearby but no it's around 8hrs a drive. maybe one day I'll go. not driving through, 2 lanes omg that's just scary, when we went to AZ, there were lots of 2 lane freeways.
Hey your Direction is wrong you are supposed to take Highway 50 west and Highway 395 North that’s on your map why did you kept going on Highway 95 and and toke interstate 80 those directions 50 and 395 is quicker
