The first installment of new arrivals to my Laserdisc collection that have accumulated since starting this video series. This portion is for the Directors, Animation, Disney, Horror, Music and Series sections.
Good description of Hitchcock's Saboteur. It's the continually ovelooked middle of his "man on the run" trilogy, bookended by The 39 Steps and North By Northwest, and it's almost as good as both of them, just with a little less glitz and star power. Hugely entertaining, and yes, his first truly "American" film.
Your videos are great and informative. I enjoyed, all the videos you released so far and even gone back and re-watch a few of them and taken notes for myself. Hopefully, this year i will get my first player. In the mean time, I've been buying some disc to get a head start ( lol ) until then. I Collected laserdisc back in 1991. My first player was the Sony MDP-333 and my first disc was the original T2 release. Tower Records was my go to place here in NYC in the Greenwich Village area. Fred Norris of the Howard stern show was a frequent customer and buyer of laserdisc there lol it was nice to see him there from time to time. You and Sam Hatch are just fantastic content providers of explaining the laserdisc format to newbies and collectors like myself of physical media. Keep up with the great work ! Thanks for the great response! Glad to know you got a lot out of these, and I'm glad to be here. It's always interesting to hear of experiences back during the heyday of LD. There's much to be said for what's still available out there on LD and how much fun can be had in 2019 for super cheap. Good luck on the player hunt. Just make sure to get the best player you can find as it will make a world of difference.
Great video... thanks for taking the time to make these. You mention finding discs locally.... what region are you in and what stores are you visiting to find discs? I am in Atlanta and our best options are 2 Half Priced Books locations, 2 Book Nook locations, and a couple of record stores that are hit and miss.
Steve Owens thanks! I’m in TN. It’s usually very hit or miss and there used to be nothing until a few years ago when occasional lots of discs started showing up in local record stores and the like. I usually pick up a few every time new batches come through.
