Lash - Take Me Away (Official Music Video) 

I can't believe that I've loved this song since Freaky Friday came out in 2003 and they only made this music video available on RU-vid this month.

Disney shoulda put in credits ORIGINAL: BY LASH or something. Disney messed up not giving credit to lash for take me away because no one could barely hear beauty queen.

It's crazy that the original music video is finally up on RU-vid and in hd quality I'm so glad cuz i needed this song so badly in my life again. Childhood me is so happy right now 🥺✨

All these years and I thought this was a Freaky Friday original song. Crazy to think that everyone who watched the film back then likely still believes it's Disney's song 😢

These girls are from Perth, Western Australia. I found out today that the iconic song from one of my favourite teenhood movies originated from my hometown ❤

Micaela Slayford (singer/bassist) was 18 here (I think, discogs says she was born June 24 1982 & this single was released in March 2001), but she looks younger here. The drummer Jaclyn Pearson looks really young too.

Why so many comments about the solo in the movie version? The Freaky Friday version has the solo because Disney wanted a different version of the song, Lash didn't put it in because it didn't make sense to write it one their composition. Give this version another listen before dismissing it, the song was written/performed this way for a reason! The vocals are obviously more pop oriented in the other version. Christina Vidal's vocals in are less.. heavily toned than in this version I guess, and less harsh than Belinda's (the on-and-on part). Micaela Slayford also sings down to the lower parts a lot more strongly than Christina does, like at 1:03 and 0:19, which is something that I think makes Micaela's voice unique, though Christina's voice works for the movie version. The guitar tone kind kind of is more pop in the Freaky Friday version (though not excessively so) as well, it's a bit less distorted than this version, just as the vocals are. The bass is almost inaudible in the Freaky Friday version, which is something I really miss compared to this original version. Lash's album "The Beautiful and The Damned" has that issue in many other songs in my opinion (not the band's fault, it's the production), though it's worth listening to that album for sure, "Better Than You", "Caged My Soul", and "In My Head" are some of my favorites. Disney toned down a lot of the rock-like elements in the song. I'll admit the solo can work for that version because of that. But this version isn't based on guitar quite as much, the bass&drums are much louder in the choruses, and so I don't think the solo would fit at all. Because of this, they just include a shorter solo with an instrumental break at 2:18, before going back to the chorus & ramping up the vocal harmonies at 2:58.

This is a such an underrated band! I am still mad that they never gave them credits at all -.-

I’ve been saying “same old shit, never ends” whenever I sing this song to myself for fun, not even realizing until this very moment that those ARE the original lyrics, and THIS is the original song… NOT the Disney version… Disney’s is apparently a cover. What the actual HELL??? My childhood has been a lie.

I remember this song from the movie Blurred, an early 00's Aussie comedy about the coming of age ritual of going to the Gold Coast after finishing high school known as "Schoolies Week". The soundtrack included a who's who of Aussie rock at the time.

They always seemed like a band who kinda fell through the cracks of the Oz music scene at the time: too poppy and polished for Triple J, not pop enough for commercial radio. If a band like this came out today they'd probably have more success.

It's been AGES since I've heard this & been looking for forever & just gave up, actually couldn't remember the lyrics either, just the beat. Was totally stoked to finally find it!.... For some reason it just doesn't sound as heavy as I remember it... I remember the drums sounding heavier... I also remember a Doll squeaking when she said Shyt...I swear I seen this on Rage (before it went f*cky) & the lead singer was wearing the same style hat but pink with white trim... weird how the memory f*cks with you over time.
