LAST ADVENTURE before packing up the Mog 

I appreciate the respect you two appear to show for each other. Travelling in a confined space is so much more enjoyable without either person bullying or being bossy or condescending. Just two very capable souls making the most of what they have brilliantly created for themselves. :)

I was a coffee freak in the mornings.. changed to Tea with honey for breakfast, found it to wake me up more, and felt more motivated

I am 61 years old and I started drinking coffee when I was 5 years old going hunting with my dad, I have never smoked anything or taken any drugs my entire life I drink at least 1 pot and some times 2 pots of coffee a day and I have an expresso machine and I add 1 double shot of expresso just about every coup. Yes caffeine affects everyone differently but I am not ready to give it up. I am happy that you realized it is affecting you and you walked away from it.

Hi Chris and Angela, this blowing tube to help with the fire needs to be crushed at one end so that it only lets a slight breath of air through, that is, so that when blowing the air it gets compressed, and it will work a thousand times better ;)

I grew up there, it is one of the most spectacular parts of the coast. Almost vertical cliffs dropping into the bluest sea. The whales often come in very close to the coast. Seals are common around sheltered little coves and also truly massive sharks patrol along the coast looking for stranglers. It's so nice to see other people enjoying something that I often took for granted but realise now how privileged a childhood I actually had.

I had migraines starting in my early teens, I went off coffee and they stopped. I didn’t have another one for over a decade and no more headaches. I gradually got back into it starting on weekends and then every day. But only one a day, occasionally 2. Still no headaches so I’m happy with that. I’m definitely addicted but I know I can stop if I want / need to.

Simpson desert and firewood….. I could write a book or tow about it. Here’s the short version: first trip I carried a heap of pre-collected mulga -> nearly killed me when the roof rack collapsed. What I settled on is a combination of mulga & eco logs. About 2 bags of nice mulga + 1 bag of eco logs. Top up with local timber if needed. Cooking in the Simpson, for me is 100% gas, doesn’t matter how much I’d like to cook on a fire the resources are sparse and it’s just a small disadvantage. 2 eco logs + a nice bit of mulga gonna keep you warm (with a couple of jumpers)

Mount the diesel heater fuel pump outside to something solid like the chassis. I can barely hear mine fixed to the chassis under my Sprinter van. Mine runs from the main fuel tank. I had an issue when one of the plastic inline filter barbs broke off and after filling with fuel it started to syphon fuel out. Good idea to carry a spare along with spare fuel line.

To get off of coffee I started by gradually adding more and more decaf coffee and less and less caffeinated coffee. This avoids the headaches. 🙂

All diesel heater pumps have the tick tick tick sound. I cannot recall where you put yours, but best to mount it underneath the truck on say the chassis rail, make sure it is properly rubber insulated and orientated. I cannot hear my pump inside my caravan, only when I go outside can I just hear it if everything else is quiet.

Great footage of the whale! Good to see a humpback, the area is more known for Southern right whales. Deep creek is a great area, we're lucky as we only live 40mins away and frequent the park alot.

Having had an ESPAR diesel heater in my boat...make sure the pump is in the proper orientation, You could wrap it in soud proofing material, the fuel pulsing through it keeps it cool.

Mel at big van small world has hung his noisy deisel heater pump off a cable tie , Huge improvement . Bowser needs a frog and kiwi logo somewhere !

With my diesel heater I got 20 cm of 120mm poly pipe and put the pump in there wrapped in sound deadener and then put the drilled for the fuel line caps on each end and wrapped the poly pipe with sound deadener. Mounted it with a horse shoe shaped plumbing fitting on a rubber mount to the chassis. Works a treat.

Diesel heaters are great, but the pumps can be loud. I saw someone put one in a camper van and they put the pump on rubber mounts outside on the chassis rail to minimise the noise inside.

I only have coffee when it is needed, big uni assignments, early wake ups etc. Apparently after the initial peak is warn off you end up more tired for the majority of the day.

I stopped drinking coffee a few years back, very occasionally have a cup probably had 6 cups this year and that's a lot. Also stopped using milk 2 years ago never felt better just drink tea or water and way to much beer 🍺 and 🍷 got to live a bit.😁 enjoy your month away.

The whale footage is awesome and the sound design is excellent as well. One hint regarding the positioning the drone in relation to sun position: On your way down you should have kept the drone on the right side of your truck so sun would be about 90° - 120° to the left. This gives much more shadow structure. If you fly on the same side as the sun, the image gets flat as there is less or even no shadow in the image.

hey guys great video as normal, on the coffee chat im on calll for work so get called out to break downs any hours so id spend my on call weekend just sitting at home driniking alot of coffee hard to get into anything when you dont know when the calls coming, 1 weekend i swapped to tea and felt ALOT better monday morning all te things you said you felt after that i now drink mainly tea or decaf coffee and its made a massive improvement

Love the video of the whale guys....super majestic and nice to see such a large mammal just playing! The Unimog looks great with the changes. I'd imagine Chris really likes the Saharan Military vibe but I think it needs a bit more of your personality on it. Your logo is a nice piece for artwork and shows a bit of your personality. Maybe putting this on the Mog on the larger canvas on the back would give it that little bit more interest and show some personality to make it more a reflection of your brand :)

Great episode, amazing footage of the great majestic whale. I also gave up coffee about 5 years ago (took me a year to come to terms with it) didn't believe the beloved espresso/flat white could be causing more fatigue and anxiety. Other hot drinks aren't quite the same but it's more about the experience anyway. All the best on the trip!

I love the taste of coffee, ( drank it for 20yrs, had some issues with some brands ). but I haven’t drank it in 10yrs, because I’m actually allergic to it.( the oils in it ). The allergy has gotten worse, now I have anaphylaxis if I have coffee in anything. Live confidently and peacefully

Coffee makes my reflux worse. But it helps with my mental clarity. I quit coffee for 6 months. And just found better management of reflux was better than no coffee.

Coffee... man I had no idea it could have such an effect on how Ur head works. I had gotta a lethargic dizziness for about a year, I have been for 3 ct scans as I thought it was my sinuses from diving, I was struggling to do daily activities. I was running out of options and a Dr gave me antidepressants which I had chosen not to take and I decided to quit caffeine and it was about a week and I have had complete clarity and life is back on track. Keep the vids coming bro.

Hey, Chris and Ange, I think going down that steep path using your four-wheel drive was good safe driving. But when you going up the path you did not need to use your four-wheel drive, you could just use your rear-wheel drive would have saved some fuel from being burned as it is a heavy-duty work vehicle off-road and very strong it can climb a path like that without any problem as it was not muddy or you could not any steep rocks.... Once more I enjoy watching the high bird eye view of your drone has taken... Cheers.

Hi there are a lot of u tube shows on how to set up Chinese diesel heaters and how to improve the installation I split a piece of pool noodle length wise and add a bit to the side so it sheathes the fuel pump then tie it up loosely so it hangs with a coil of fuel line each end to absorb vibrations from the pump then on top of that I cut pieces of pool noodle with knife cuts in them and place the fuel line into it and hang that as well so as little of vibration as possible can be transmitted to any hard surface as that's where most of the noise comes from also if interested it's expensive but in the UK bobil vans make heat exchanger kits that are miniature 3d printed radiators to heat water that go into the heated air outlet pipe from the heater so that you can heat up water for a shower or washing up every 2 to 4 days also there are fittings that can brought to silence the air from the fan as that's where a lot of noise comes from too I used to own a Toyota coaster camper with the pool noodle around the fuel pump to a diesel heater it was fitted under the bed it wasn't that noisy but I he'd the diesel pump under the floor as well to silence it further I've also seen the heaters fitted under the floor in a tool box with just the outlet and air inlet for heated air going inside the camper or caravan also check out Max and Sophie in a van it's a van build series on u tube I hope this helps if further help is needed I'll look up clips on u tube for you n post u the sites there is heaps of info out there with how popular living in a camper is these days even if the trend is starting to die out the resource of info is still there to be used cheers n best of luck on your travels love the show

Back in the day we would often store items in the spare wheel rim of the mogs (blocks of wood, bags of straps, ropes etc) and in my experience, never lost anything. I can't remember if you modified how yours mounts but it would I'd imagine you could fit half a bag of firewood in it.

WHEN I was16 yo at boarding school in JAMAICA BWI, the LAST night @ school, if you slept, you got black,brown,& shoe whiting + dubbin slathered in your HAIR so I has 19 cups of COFFEE to not sleep, well coffee has zero effect on me. I have 2 cups black with breakfast, but have had a few cups ESSESPRESSO, THEN TO BED AND SLEEP, NOW 80 YO STILL NO EFFECT , BOOZE IS BETTER to sleep. Coffee cult is real… I had similar issues 👍 I still enjoy an occasional coffee but really make it an occasion rather than the ritual. It’s amazing how your life revolves around your coffee drink… almost excitement leading up, almost terror if you think it will be late or missed… and a sense of craving… your body/mind demands it… it’s a real addiction.
